I just got a deep revelation of this scripture through your teaching sir
Acknowledging my insufficiency without God is what God searches for in us 6:41
Very profound, well understood. God bless you Daddy Gideon Odoma
Apostle Gideon, how can we not love you for profound Bible accuracy? Jesus Christ keep your servant🙏🏽
God keep blessing you, sir, Apostle Gideon Odoma.
Wow! Thanks Apostle for the illumination❤
This is so profound sir. More yieldedness to remain with Jesus.
God bless you Apostle Gideon odoma
The point being made by the distinguished Apostle and theologian is clear and well taken. I also understand the basis for his interpretation of that scripture given the contextual situation that necessitated that parable from the Luke's account of that parable being that the Pharisees complained that Jesus receives sinners and eats with them hence the parable. However, and with due deference to the learned biblical scholar, a comparison of the same account from Matthew and particularly 18:12, it talks of one of the hundred sheeps going astray, presupposing that the remaining ninety-nine did not go astray, and this fact was confirmed in the succeeding verse 13. From the Luke's account, 15:4 also speaks of "...if he loses one of them..." supposing also that the remaining ninety-nine were not lost. Verse 7 concludes by saying "...than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance...". If scriptures calls them just and states that they do not need repentance, I think that is just what it is without more. I think that the reason mention was not made about the ninety-nine he left in the wilderness in search of the "sheep which was lost" (Lk 15:6 NKJV) was because at that point the subject, search light and focus was on the one that was lost and not necessarily that he left the remaining ninety-nine in the wilderness because they claimed not to be lost. This is my humble view on that parable. But as I said earlier, the point being made about being self righteous is well taken. God bless you Apostle, I love to listen to you expound on the scriptures actually, because of the depths of insight you have.
I think from his explanation, it is very clear that "none is righteous. No, not one". And because we all have "gone astray", all of us one way or the other need repentance. This then means that there is no one on earth "that doesn't need repentance". Considering that, I stand with the apostle's position.
There is a need for everyone to repent. You might want to consider Acts 17:30.... "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent".
No one can therefore say he is just and doesn't need repentance, as the Pharisees viewed themselves as righteous and others as sinners
@@kevinfangnan5973 What if the 99 were already truly born again,..? And it's not an issue of self Righteousness,...?
I think that's what the comment is addressing.
It's possible, the Scriptures is not Calling the 99 just in a sarcastic manner,.
Perhaps dey have been saved already,.
Please how can I buy you ice cream
What Daddy is trying to explain is very simple, the 99 are the self righteous ones who still believe in just the law/morals to be saved while that one sheep is the man who understands and acknowledge that morals can't make you righteous except you put on the righteousness of God through the blood of Jesus on the cross.
@@baridandeesor5829 😁😁it won't be needful sir. We are just seeking to approach the word of God with an open heart and trust the Holy Spirit to give interpretation to it.
My God! On a second look, I had always wondered why Jesus took only the one sheep home and left the rest. This is true ooo. This is wisdom. Only the wise will listen and be wiser.
Thank you sir.
More grace, Apostle.
Thank you sir
Well understood
We have all gone astray!!!
This is a dangerous twist. I would appreciate if Daddy Gideon will explain better on this space.
Very profound. This is the first time I am hearing this message explained with clarity. Many preachers have gotten this wrong
This is truth
we all
Daddy, you are wrong with the illustration of 99 not getting home and only 1 making it home, sir.
Share the link for the full sermon please my Spirit couldn't rest am still looking forward to watching the full sermon share please
The law
The 99 will have a problem with this message...
Due respect Sir and more grace to your ministry.
Please allow me to state what the parable actually means with the following points:
1. The 100 sheep belongs to the same fold and the same shepherd. "My sheep hear my voice....." "I lay My life down for the sheep....."
2. One sheep went missing from the fold.
3. The good shepherd, like every normal person, leaves the 99 "safe children" in the custody of a close relative and joins the police in the search of the missing "child"
4. The shepherd rejoices when he finds the missing sheep like every man would when he found his missing child
5. He comes home with the sheep/child jubilating and throws a party to thank God with his neighbors.....and the other 99 sheep/children joins in the celebration.
6. This is exactly what happens when a man finds his child that had been declared missing or kidnapped. Same thing.
I hope this helps 🙏
This is not true
Based on our human sense, your points above are what we believe it should be. But, if we restrict ourselves based on the Bible text only, some of your information are wrong;
3- The parable didn't mention the shepherd had an assistant or relatives helping to watch the 99 in the wilderness.
3 - If we interpret the wilderness based on all its references in the Bible, it is not a good place. It is where there is no food and water. It also has the presence dangerous animals. Luke used wilderness, "Matthew" used "mountain". Mountain also is not a good place for the sheep.
5 - The Parable didn't mention the 99 sheep join in the celebration. The Bible didn't mention the Shepherd went back to pick the 99 in the wilderness and return home together for the celebration.
Another key statement in the parable that must be properly decipher is "99 righteous people who need no repentance"
"99 righteous people who need no repentance" -
Do you know there is difference between the two statements below;
99 righteous people who need no repentance.
99 righteous people, who need no repentance.
The comma changed their meanings.
- The first statement with no comma means there may be some righteous people who need repentance.
- The second statement is what we called non-restrictive clause in English language. This means what comes after the comma only qualify the noun before the comma. For example, Apostle Arome, who is the General Overseer of Remnant Christian Network is coming to my Church tomorrow". "Who is the general overseer of Remnant Christian Network" is only telling more detail about Apostle Arome. It is not really necessary.
In the parable, there was no comma. Even in the original manuscript, there was still no comma. It's good to check the original manuscript in this kind statement so that the case won't be like Isaiah 59:19 that King James added comma where there is no comma and totally changed the meaning from what was written in original manuscript and many Pentecostals think the enemies are the ones coming like a flood.
This now lead us to a question, who is a righteous man?
Jesus has never called the Scribes and Pharisees sinners. In Matt 5:20, He said "Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribe and pharisees you will not enter the kingdom of heaven". Here, He is telling us they are not righteous enough. All the righteousness they acquired through works are not bad, but it won't take them to heaven. Matt 9:13, Jesus also called the Pharisees righteous. That's how the scribes and pharisees see themselves. Jesus never had issue with it. He's only telling them, it's not enough, that accepting Jesus who is our righteousness is still necessary to complete the deal.
This is the reason some Pastors interpreted the statement "99 righteous people who need no repentance" as 99 righteous people WHO THINK they don't need repentance. Remember the event that preceded the Parable in Luke was pharisees who think how can a righteous Jesus be eating and dining with the sinners.
In conclusion, I think I would lean more to Apostle Gideon's position. That is, Jesus prioritizes the one who is lost and cry for help compare to 99 who feel they are already righteous.
Instead of you to ask the Holyspirit
Wow
It's pretty clear from John 10 that the "sheep" has never included the Pharisees. Jesus has His sheep, given to Him by His Father before the foundation of the world. When Jesus speaks about His sheep, He always refers to those who were given to Him by God the Father. This would include those He's saved already(99 sheep), and those He is actively pursuing to save(the 1). Interesting interpretation anyway.
We all !!
Could it also mean that they were the ones that are standing and haven't gone astray?
Similar to the brother who remained working for his father while the brother went on excursion (prodigal son).
That there are standing sheep, there are also stray sheep, also black sheep and also goats too...
Consider...
Remember the word is like silver tried 7 times. There at least exist 7 layers to biblical truths that never clash but complement other truths.
My submission
Spot on. The prodigal son was illuminating for me.
Zec 11:16 ISV for I am now raising up a shepherd in the land who will neither search for the lost, nor care for the young, nor fix the broken, nor sustain the healthy. Instead, he will devour the meat of the best of the sheep, tearing off their hoofs.”
So there are these at least 4 categories of sheep... The lost (or stray), the broken, the young ones, and the healthy (the strong, matured and standing).
The word is wholesome.
Thanks
Truth be told Bro Gideon, is wrong on this I think he needs to check again no one is above correction, if I have 100 Sheeps and 1 ran away I'd now live the 99 to die in the wilderness and save one, who loose abeg, see let's not take scriptures out of context, Christians represent Sheeps, the Pharisees are wolves in sheep clothing, so that Scripture the 99 represent Christians that have not fallen into sin but have kept the WORD of Truth, they need no repentance for they have been saved
Do you think the older son was not problematic?
Remember that at the end of it all, it was not recorded that he entered that feasting hall.
That is a wrong interpretation of what Jesus said in that parable. The Pharisees also need repentance, the only people who don't need repentance are those who have repented and are still repenting.
"who do not need repentance" in that context means that they don't think there is necessity for repentance because they believe that they are without sin, hence, they don't need repentance
@@FavourEmeruo-k2j no that is not the context. The word used there is "Just" not just righteous and on top of that there is no where in the Bible where there is a suggestion that the pahrisees did not believe in repentance.
You’re not right bro
@@tematorjusticebaaji8619 Jesus literally told the Pharisees this, "Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth".
That's exactly what he is explaining. John9:14
@@tematorjusticebaaji8619 John the Baptist preached to them
Repent and bring fruits of repentance
Apostle Gideon, I greet you. Thank you for this new rhema but I will humbly say that it is NOT the perspective Jesus was coming from.
Jesus was giving that parable in order to clearly reveal the importance of GOING ALL OUT for ONE SINNER (especially a backslider in this context). Remember, the Pharisees were disturbed because He was visiting sinners.
Now, that parable means what we all know it to be:
1. The man had 100 Sheep and one got missing. So, it's clear that the missing one was part of the fold.
2. Jesus clearly stated that the ONE MISSING was LOST! It's very clear that the missing one was termed the LOST ONE. But Jesus never said/called the 99 sheep "LOST".
I wonder why you are saying that the 99 are the sinners.
The only sinner mentioned there is the one LOST.
3. It is not in the character of Jesus to leave the 99 SHEEP alone like that. In fact, it's clear that the 99 SHEEP never did anything wrong. It was not recorded that they committed any offense. They were only left by the shepherd who went to seek THE LOST ONE. So, you can't call the 99 sinners. I don't agree.
4. Remember, when he got home, he calls neighbours to rejoice with him for the LOST SHEEP that was found.
The focus is on the LOST SHEEP (the sinner/backslider).
That's the reason you didn't see him talk much about the 99.
5. This whole parable was given to CLEARLY tell the Pharisees that THE SON OF MAN CAME TO SEEK AND SAVE THAT WHICH WAS LOST!
6. The following parable in the same passage about the LOST COIN also explains the same thing the LOST SHEEP parable was explaining.
Can you also say that the 9 pieces of silver that was left by the woman to seek the LOST COIN represent the sinners? 🤔
These are what I see in the Scripture.
God bless you, Apostle.
