- 🚨 Are you holding yourself back with negative “I am” statements? 🚨
Too many people define themselves by habits they don’t even want to keep. Saying “I’m not disciplined,” “I’m lazy,” “I’m not a morning person,” or “I’m always anxious” keeps you stuck in an identity that doesn’t serve you.
The truth? You are not your bad habits. The more you repeat those statements, the more you reinforce them as part of your reality. In this video, we’re talking about why you need to stop self-sabotaging through identity statements and start aligning with the version of you that you actually want to be.
💡 In this video, we’re breaking down:
✅ Why your words shape your reality (and how to shift them).
✅ How labeling yourself with bad habits becomes an excuse.
✅ The power of identity shifts-start saying who you are becoming.
✅ How to stop reinforcing an identity that no longer serves you.
✅ Practical mindset shifts to redefine yourself in an empowering way.
💬 What’s one negative “I am” statement you’re letting go of? Drop it in the comments! Let’s reframe it into something empowering.

Thank you so much for this Video. This really opened my eyes to how negative I actually think about myself even though I try my best to become better every single day. I'm definitely going to try your tips you shared. Much love and keep up the good work! 💛
I agree 100% I’ve been medically diagnosed with anxiety when I was younger, but I’ve never claimed it and I’ve been blessed to not experience it because that’s not where my focus was
@@melissavonado Amen!! Our words are so powerful! 🙏🏾
This was great babe. Keep up the good work.
@@DJC819 ahh thank you! 🥹
I disagree that simply changing statements when it comes to mental issues such as anxiety and depression is enough. However, I do believe - and agree - that shifting the approach towards yourself and your traits - even the ones you or some might consider negative - is a powerful attitude. I love the idea of saying "I am getting better at (insert here whatever comes to your mind)" because it shows a movement to another state, maybe a more peaceful or positive state. I, for example, would say that I am getting better at controlling my anxiety. I might deal with anxiety my whole life, who knows, but saying this silly little phrase gives me a good feeling. I could provide multiple examples, but I think you get me.
Again, mental issues need medical treatment, and not only positive affirmations. But, one doesn't need to exclude the other; I know, for me, adding these statements makes things a little bit... lighter and smoother.
Thank you for this take! I completely agree medical treatment is definitely needed for mental issues. And sometimes just shifting our words can really help in dealing with things.
girl when someone has anxiety it can be a disabling illness. it isn't a negative trait, it is a medical condition.
@@YaSmithe I still wouldn’t want to continue affirming it. Any illness can be healed but if you continually say you have something you continue to create that experience. It’s okay we all have anxious moments and bouts of anxiety.
@@yourcoilyness i think you need to educate yourself about mental health
@@YaSmitheI think you’re triggered and that’s okay. Wishing you well on your journey!
@@yourcoilyness I liked this video and agree with it but I definitely took what you were saying about anxiety as more like temporary anxiety. Using it as an excuse or affirming it as your identity when you don't have a clinical disorder. But clinical anxiety disorder isn't something you can just say you don't have. So I kinda agree with this commenter on that. I still think there's an ounce of truth though even in that case. I have anxiety disorder (clinically diagnosed) but I don't think of myself as an anxious person in situations, I concentrate on other more positive traits that can help me navigate around anxiety disorder like that I'm a very disciplined person, an outgoing person, an extrovert, and have a calm nonplussed personna. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that that's probably what you mean anyway. Like you said if you want to be lazy that's find but you don't have to make that the center of your character.
Wanted to add, the flow is nice, you're easy to follow and lively enough to keep my attention. :)
@@160p2GHzthanks so much! ☺️ Yes I definitely was talking about more temporary anxiety not clinical. I appreciate the feedback! I know I definitely will make sure to be more clear and specific in the future too. Glad you enjoyed! ✨
