Hey man. I don't know if you still make gas tanks or are active on youtube, but thank you for the video. I was thinking about making a gas tank made of carbon fiber (or atleast try to), but I had quite a hard time trying to find a video or a forum post that showed how to mold the underside of the gas tank on to the top part. Thank you for the walk through explanation. It helped a ton ❤

Liking your videos, and glad I found your channel. I have a 4x4 that I need to build a custom 16 to 18 gallon diesel tank for. What resin do you use that will not be eaten by gas or diesel. I am no pro at glassing, but I have built a custom snorkel for my 4x4, and just last week a custom in floor battery box. I overkill everything, and the battery box ended up 1/4" thick wall with some reinforcing added for good measure, but it does need to carry a 100 pound battery, and the glass fiber floor of the vehicle was also 1/4". I wont be working off of a mold, but building straight off.

Make sure you leave space in your battery box to remove the battery :)

@@goonglassrubber8322 I presently run a hand-me-down 120Ah truck battery which is a right fit in this box. But one day when I get to buy the correct battery, it will have a lot of spare space.

    Polyester resin?

My supplier and I had a special corrosion resistant resin formulated made that is polyester based. Currently I have a test tank and test strips that have been submerged for almost 3 years and there is no breakdown or de-lamination. However, the caswell treatment is done to offer a high quality and durable gas tank that will last years. We are in the business of making high quality us made items that do not have to be replaced year after year breaking the bank for many. Also, ya never know what People put in their gas tanks. I have done a lot of repairs that reek of methanol and other extremely corrosive fuels that are not legal.
