Sad day for the Music industry! We lost to great Artists - Lata ji and Bappi da - within 10 days! Bappi Lahiri introduced the Disco music genre, one of my fav genre’s, in the 1980s. He also created a Guinness World record by composing 180 songs in 1986! Wow! Most of his music are very melodious and soothing to the Ears, just as Lata didi’s songs were. Even though Disco music has disappeared from Indian film industry, but I listen to it many times in recent years. Thanks Bappi Lahiri for coming to this world to entertain us. You left us too early! You will be remembered for centuries to come. And I will be listening to Habiba for as long I live.
one more thing to add ...despite being 30+ years old music , the stereo effect is so strong and clear ..hats off to all musicians involved on creating this piece of work.

This is the result of Bappida's summer vacation trip to London where he got into a studio with dance producers francis usmar and martyn phillips, who pulled out this wicked dance number with analog bass synths, drum machines and a luxury those days.. the fairlight CMI sampler computer, which sampled the phrase 'Habiba' chopped it up and programmed it on the the sequencer to give the chants at 3:54 and a pitch bend slide to give that falling effect.. Gated vocals.. turntable scratches.. all unknown in India those days... Bappida's open mind to experimentation makes him stand apart from his peers.
I ran to buy this audio cassette just as it was released in 1989. And i almost bought all bappi lahiri da's privet albums like "Dancing city , Jawaani Jawaani, and the one album with padmini khollha puri, and one aulbum with his daughter, I have forgotten the names of these two album's... I mostly bought all of bappi lahiris movie albums with Mithun chakraborty, and usha uttuph.
