- The original Mini Cooper is a TINY vehicle. Probably lighter than a Civic. But, as is with a lot of cars of this era, it came with a pretty anemic motor setup compared with modern times. The solution? Honda power. Duh. This K20 swapped Mini is micro car perfection.

I love this kind of build, small car with a "reasonable amount" of power. Also wilwood brakes and aesthetically it's not overly modified. It's perfect.

Vq35 is were it's at for nissan boys...love the vq engine,,,honda k20 is an incredible engine too.
VQ35s DE and DD are the newest rice in socal over the last 5 years, they're all stock (engine/drivetrain) with shitty exhausts, beat up, and auto. Hardly any of them are HR or have a good exhaust.
Usually only the VQ37HRs are modified

What an amazing car! We had a couple of Minis and this brings back some great memories.
Beautiful build! My 1970 Mini had a Vauxhall/Opel XE 2.0 with 250bhp running on 6x10 Minilites with 165/70 Yokohamas. It was a real handful!!

We love that he uses it as a daily driver! The k20 is an incredible power plant, it is a “monster” due to torque steer when maintaining front wheel drive, put it in the rear and its power delivery is much easier to drive fast.
Here in Indonesia, even a wrecked Mini is so damn expensive. Not to mention the K-Swap and that cool whole front-end pop up. Thanks for the video, Larry! Shout out to the owner.

Something always confuses me when Hoonigan look at cars- they don't skip a beat over the idea of importing weird parts from Japan, but when they look at British cars its always "where do you get parts from?!?". You guys know we speak English in England, right? Its got to be the easiest place besides canada/aus/nz for an american to buy stuff from!

to those who were weirded out with the horn sound - it is his homage to the Philippine Jeepney. Jeepneys are public transportations here at home that are mostly tricked out (stanced, straight pipes, loud sounds, etc.) and the horn sound is one of usual modifications you would find in the Jeepney.
You should try the Minis with the motor swapped in the back, too

Seen a swap like this back in like 2006 ish range. Massachusetts builder and owner.
I think I remember those cars being featured in Car and Driver. Must have been a B16 swap, not a K20.
I do remember Minitec needs to lengthen the shell by a fair bit to fit the Honda swap, which none of the commenters seem to recognize. That disqualifies this build in the eyes of Nik and Richard. Wasn’t it episode 1? “If it’s not 100 inches, it’s not a Mini.”

edit: I wanted to add that I used to own a 2006 Kia Rio which had 110hp, manual, and 175 tires. I could easily spin tires in first and get tire chirp power shifting into second (yes I abused that car severely). I can't imagine 175s with 200hp, absolute insanity.
My 06 G6 GTP was 240 from a 3.9 and 6-speed. Shed chirp with ease and that had 225’s.

I realize there are packaging restrictions, but why would you put the air filter right behind the radiator? Hot air intake...
d16vtec is good enough to daily in a mini. fits better than a kseries or bseries and can use factory transmission and factory wiring

@@heyoitssky1191 Don't gotta explain it to me, I have a '62 Meteor I want to build into a 60s Nascar/SCCA/TransAm clone.
Doing things right always costs more, but at least you don't have to go back and redo it.
Biggest thing with the WRX swap would be forward mounting a radiator and possible intercooler, unless you mount them above the engine and closed off the rear half of the Type 3 with a firewall
@@perotekku yeah I plan on doing it right the first time it may take me 10 years to do it but it’ll be done right and as for the intercooler and radiator I’m not entirely sure what I’ll do but I’ll cross that road when I get there
@@heyoitssky1191 I think using the existing air vents on the sides of the car as ducting for the coolers would be sick.

My car to choose to make a drift car would be a Volvo Canadian wagon....but something weird would be fun.
