Thanks for this document about Blue. I think, that Blue are big and really important part of boyband's history. Lot of girls grown up on their music, they were our idols and more... for me were Blue and their music also very important. That music stood me on my feet, literally.... because when I was 11 to 14 I had operated my joints and I was afraid of walking again. I told myself, I can't do that, I can't walk again, even when I was allowed to walk. And I used to listen to their music at the time. It played song "Flexin'" and it wasn't directly walking, it was half of walking, half of dancing. But I had trying again and again, and suddenly I wasn't in my room but in the hallway. I was screaming: "I walking I walking!" while laughing. Thank you. :)
I would love for Lance Bass to do a Documentary called "I'm In A Boy Band, & I'm Gay". Him, Duncan, Jon Knight of New Kids On The Block and even Ricky Martin can talk about what it was like being Gay. Also you never see Women in Girlbands Come Out.
Another person who got "Outed" was US Soap Actor Joe Breen who in the 1980's was one of America's Top Soap Actors. He played Paul Slavinsky on Loving, Will Jeffries On Guiding Light and Scott Eldridge on it's sister Show As The World Turns. He was "Outed" by The National Inquirer, was HIV Positive and at last report was doing a Play but you know he's on death's door.
Blue got ripped off big time. Even I bought their song. Where did my money go. I wanted it to go to Blue because I liked them. They bring enjoyment. Lee is hot.
You've got a great point there! Sadly enough they teach these Kids how to be Pop Stars but they don't teach them how to go on with their lives "after" the fame ends. I would love for some of them to go to Performing Arts High Schools in the US and talk to the "Children" there. They lived it, they know it and they could give them sage words of wisdom.
They kind of remind me of 98 Degrees who were one of the Few White Groups signed to Motown Records. Their "First" Manager got fired, they were remarketed as a Boy Band and although they did well in America in The UK & Asia they created pandemonium. Also when a Boy Band/Girl Group go away for awhile in the UK The Fans seems to always be there. In the US it is "Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind". New Kids On The Block found that out the hard way.
The same thing happened with David Ruffin of The Temptations. He thought that because he sang "lead" on their biggest hits like "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" and "My Girl" amongst others, he was ten feet tall and bulletproof. He gets fired in 1968, comes back in 1974 with a Solo Hit called "I'm Gonna Run Away From Love". Him, Dennis Edwards (His Replacement) and Eddie Kendricks all found out the hard way after leaving The Temptations life isn't all that sweet and since they didn't have the same Status that Diana Ross had it was a bitter pill to swallow. It's so beautiful that Simon & Duncan stepped up as "Daddies" At 18 alot of guys wouldn't have done it.
His accountant didn't seem to be very good eh!! Didn't notice there was something starting to go wrong he only just noticed when he was 6big BIG ones in the red and that was only to the tax man
It's not as uncommon as you think. Look at Aaron Carter, his Mother Joanna managed him and when he was old enough to come into his Trust Fund there was nothing. His Mother stole from him and he had to declare Bankruptcy so his Parents including his Father Bob wouldn't go to Prison. His Father died about nearly Two Years ago and another Sister Bonnie Jo died of Drug related causes. She couldn't handle the fact that she didn't make it as a Pop Star and Aaron and Nick did.
blue didn't do so bad...it was in the top 5 in the televotes, it were the juries that brought them down. the performance was kind of awkward tho. better than last place

I don't think Eurovision is a good way to make a comeback. The voting is too political for any British act to ever win.
