    Love these tackle tip videos. I’m just getting back into saltwater fishing after being out of it for 20 years and a lot has changed. Keep making these awesome videos !!

      I noticed that you tie to a solid ring, then use a split ring to attach the Gomame jigs. What size and brand split ring do you recommend using on the 100g, 80g, and 50g Gomame jigs? I had great success last year with school sized YFT on the Gomame, they are great! Thank you for the videos sir!

      @@sroe12211 Size numbers vary with the different brands, so you really just need to "eyeball" them. Mostly #7 and #8 Owner split rings, and #6 or #5 Owner solid rings.

      How do you fish the Gomame? Straight vertical drops or are you casting, sinking it and retrieving up through the water column to cover water? And what retrieve speeds for both ways?

    • @tunanorth
      @tunanorth ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@WatchMeEDC Every possible way! On the slide, just drop it back and then crank it in fast. Stright down yo-yo. Cast far, let it sink, and crank back fast. It gets bit pretty much every way you fish it.

    Fun Fact: I caught a 200 lb. bluefin tuna last week on the exact Williamson Kensaki jig I am describing at the 4:30 mark.

    Steve
    I enjoy all your videos, especially from the deck of a sport boat.
    Wondering, What’s the name of that Wahoo bomb with spinner in the video.

    • @tunanorth
      @tunanorth 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No wahoo bomb in this video, but the ones with the spinner in the middle of the body are "Catchy Tackle" brand, and pretty much every brand has a spinner on the tail end.

    O.K. on the 'Search er' what is your terminal knot to the jig? Also on your jig examples I think I saw some with double rings (solid or split ?) and or with heavy duty snaps (clips). Is that what I saw and if so why and when?

    • @tunanorth
      @tunanorth 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My terminal knot is almost always the "San Diego Jam" [single], with the number of turns varying depending on the pound test. I do like double rings, so that I can tie to a solid ring instead of a split ring if at all possible. I am not usually a big fan of the heavy duty snaps, but some anglers do use them with success.

    Steve, is that a small ring tied onto the end of the short 80 lb leader?

    • @tunanorth
      @tunanorth ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the black ring is an Owner solid welded ring.

    Do you get more bites on the fall on the dart style jigs or the wind?

    • @tunanorth
      @tunanorth ปีที่แล้ว

      Both! Slightly more on the fall than on the retrieve, maybe 60/40.

    I have a Makaira Trolling rod 6ft rated 50-120lb test line with full roller. Can I use this rod for this type of fishing?

    • @tunanorth
      @tunanorth ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A heavy roller-guide rod is not really suitable for fishing these smaller "daytime" jigs. A short 6 foot rod is not ideal for heavy night-time jigging activities, but it can work temporarily. Rods of that type are primarily used for kite fishing, and trolling.

    What color(s) are the kensaki jigs.

    • @tunanorth
      @tunanorth ปีที่แล้ว

      I have done best with the silver/pink color with glow stripes, but correct weight and depth of presentation is even more important.
