Mr. Arka Chakraborty, the pianist who is featured in the opening and the closing of this video, is my teacher.
And he's the best jazz pianist of this time and the best teacher one can ever have..!! 😊

Fantastic video on the legend- I had the good fortune to listen to him....and even danced to his tunes at The Chowringhee Bar 😊
I guess he also talked that day about his friend from Bangalore Viddu who made some famous music of 80s pop with Nazia /Joheb Hassan. He talked about jazz and fumbled with Nina and instead told him Nancy Simon and he so lovingly said probably someone new has come and forgiven my foolhardiness.
His eyes were moist when he said I regret it - perhaps he meant both the decision of not listening to the advice of Louis Banks and also perhaps he had to even utter these words in the interview regarding leaving Calcutta and Park Street.
Those who have seen his nimble fingers doing the magic on the frets will never ever forget this magician of guitar and Yes as Nondon da said he was the best but was not recognised as it should have been .....had he been in America or elsewhere where jazz is loved then perhaps he would have become a legend by now and we would have been reading it in the books of music .....having said that I would also say that he will forever be there in our hearts and a magician who preferred to show his magic to Calcutta only and those who could not listen to him were sheer unlucky fellows.

Thanks for the story! I was looking for a video on the guru of Jazz guitar for very long. Missed to learn from him while learning from a couple of his students, including Nanda da. Someone created a CD on Carlton's music, which was released in Bangalore. Are you, by any chance, aware of it ?

Sometimes testing musical instruments and tuning them or playing off tuned is also called a genre of music. Regards
