@@ThatsLifeDude I ended up switching to tech. I’m looking to pass L3 soon. In interviews people always place you above others and always ask about the exams. It’s a very tough exam. You need to put the time in
Huh? Paper? I have no idea what this means, but if you are looking for the easy way to pass Level 1, all you have to do is read the content, put in some hours on working through problems and mock exams, and spend some time reviewing the content. Within about 250 to 300 hours, you should have it.
You didn't really mention time, most people would struggle to come up with an extra 300 hours to set aside, especially since working hours in finance are known to be long.
I just got my degree in finance. So this really isn’t as difficult as all the course work that I did in my degree? I have a hard time believing it. But I’m going to go after it. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Thank you for taking the time and giving us a heads up! And motivation I’m studying for my Nicet 1 in water based systems my boss is threatening to take away my prevailing wage jobs if I don’t get it 😡
I got 100% correct on the first attempt. My tips is to be very detail orientated when you import data and write formulas. Make sure the formats are correct, think source to target. Review the topics before writing the exam. Make sure you know the formulas and when to use them. Know the syntax. If you do this you will be fine.
The summer 2021 cfa1 exam has 25% people passed. It it hard to imagine that 75% of students were not prepared (many of them took the exam several times already). What is the percentage of errors in the results of these exams? Errors are made all the time. Could it be that someone made an error and that made 25 % of students to pass? Would that pass percentage could have been higher if there were not errors in gradings of the tests? Why does it take 2 months to show the results if the exam is electronic graded? What is the rate of the exams getting harder and harder by the year? Do exams get harder and harder each year? it seems so that this year only 25% of students passed the exam.
hey, in one of the lectures, you mentioned about reading a book on Stock market which was written by an Indian. Could you please let me know the book name again?
I know this is an old video, but I am here now and wanted to ask a question. Firstly, thank you for all the advice and content, I appreciate it. Secondly, how many mock/practice questions do you have on your site? I recall from one of your earlier videos you said you are trying to get 10,000 mock questions. From my university experience practice is the key to understanding the concepts thoroughly so access to a massive question bank will be extremely useful.
level 1 is trivial stuffs. i could have played pokemon go with my right hand, and answer CFA level 1 with my left hands, and still pass all segments, on stream. if only they allow us to do CFA while jogging.
Ive read almost everywhere that the CFA goes much deeper than an MBA in terms of what you end up knowing about finance, so im confused about what is said in this video, that the MBA goes deeper.
Thanks, Mark; the videos proved to be very practical and helpful in understanding concepts. Could you also recommend a book for practising/reinforcing the idea delivered in the videos?
Hi Mark! Exactly what I wanted to ask you. Could you please tell how do CFA (3 levels) and Master degree in finance (or business or whatever closer) correspond? Not in terms of difficulty but in terms of content and applicability. Would be much grateful for your reply.
It depends. An MBA from a low rated school that few take seriously is just a waste of time depending on where you want to go. However, once you have an MBA, it is always yours. The CFA requires you to keep paying each year to use it. Once you stop paying, you can no longer use it. A finance MBA will go much deeper than the CFA but will cost you much more to get.
Hi Mark, for the past few months, I was able to finish the Ethics, FRA, and Quant portion. As reference, I'm a Finance graduate so I do have a little bit of background in most of the topics for the Level 1 this December. I'm studying for the exam full-time starting today (October 17), and considering the time and the recommended "Cram Plan" from 300 hours, here's my plan: I'll finish the Equity, Fixed Income, and Portfolio Management topics for the remaining days and then just acquaint myself with the other topics by answering the practice tests. Hopefully, I'll start the full mock exams 2-3 weeks before December 2. What I do have are from Schweser, Wiley, and from CFA Institute. Do you think my study plan is doable? I think I can study 8-10 hours per day until November 13 (28 days x 8-10 hours).
Hey, Mark! I plan to finish all the readings for level 1 on October. After that I will only make practice questions. The question is should I start studying for level 2 on October? Or should I wait until I get results for level 1, but that would be on January and I would have only 5 months for studying? Does material of level 1 go along with level 2 and would I get syneries for studying it before level 1 exam?
I would not begin L2 until you have done the exam. You may feel finished at the end of Oct but you need to spend Nov doing problems and reviewing. Once the exam is done, then you can start L2 feeling very assured that you passed L1.
I have been doing really well on the CFA Curriculum and Shweser practice questions. The practice questions provided by Investopedia are much more difficult and I have not had as much success with those. Are the CFA Curriculum practice questions representative of the level of knowledge the CFA Institute would like Candidates to have?
The EOC questions are easy on average, the mocks are harder, the actual exam may seem harder only because its real, and you feel differently. So, candidates tend to remember it as harder. Its called affective bias.
Hi Mark, I've been reading that the CFA Institute questions are a lot more difficult, as well as similar in difficulty to the actual exam, than the Schweser mock exams. Would you happen to know if this is true? Also I am on borderline passing based on my Schweser mock exam. I've only gotten up to 20% of economics but finished all the other topics, do you think I should focus the rest of my time on the heavier topics? Exam is in a week also lol. Hope to hear back soon and thanks
As far as the difficulty - I am not sure. I have a hard time assessing what is difficult now. Its not difficult if you know it. As for what to do now - focus on getting the big topics down. You can't get past Level 1 without high performance in FRA and Ethics.
Hey Mark, I was just wondering since you have written questions before, how can we reverse engineer the cfa question to quickly get an answer? would it be possible to do so on the level 1 exam?
Mark, Why would companies prefer MBA candidates? People go to some random schools and pay over $60k for an MBA degree. How useful are they? To me, a master of finance degree is better. It varies. Some of the notes are as short as 70 to 100 pages, others are about 150-175 and FRA is over 300, being the longest section. At this point you only have 11 weeks. Unless you plan to spend about 5-6 hours per day, everyday, I don't see how you can get it done. Start with Quant and FRA.
