As of one of the recent updates, you need to add an extra step to make this blueprint. Break the statue with a flamethrower trap before snapping the bottom column back in and you should have no problems.
You can also blueprint two catwalks and a small object close to it, doesn't even need to touch the catwalk, just being close, you can use the distance to ajust the height of your catwalk against the floor. This will allow for floating catwalks with nothing supporting to them.
I deleted part of my camp as a mistake. Then this video saved my camp and my mental sanity, thank you!!! :) PS I had no such statues so I used a shooting target tin can :)
If you've got a free floating staircase and attach floors to it, the only ways to remove them are to 'legitimately' support the staircase by attaching it to a foundation, or re-place your camp so everything is stored.
@@kikibplays ya but i got a sky camp and cant place foundations unless theres a trick to get foundations in the air? If I cant do that maybe I could use roofs as “floors” and delete them as needed. I think it’s only stairs and floors that wont let me delete them, not roofs
@@David__________ yep, that's correct. The stairs and floors will remain locked then, and you'll have to re-place your camp to get rid of them. Any time you're using unsupported stairs with floors, you absolutely have to plan ahead before you place any. I usually build using roofs as floors, and then if I want to use floors in the finished build, only place those down after I'm 100% sure.
Good job darlin. I build some wicked places. I love it. I don't play on a public server due to "online tough guys" with Legacy Weapons. You're a decent builder. I think you and Mr . Church are top notch. If Bethesda would let us all build together, we could build some outstanding places. Keep drivin on darlin. AATW!
Thanks, I really appreciate it! It would be so great if we could properly do some kind of collaborative building. The system we have now for that is way too limited, and has only gotten worse over the years 😕
@@kikibplays Lol. Building in Appalachia before was a hair pulling experience. I remember having to just log out and go out in the garage and mess around. Lol. The current "Collide" and "Free" options make it somewhat easier. I don't have to destroy as many items as I used to, to combine them.
Do you know of anyway to snap with accuracy one container on top of the other. Maybe with using the 2foundation stair piece? I’m trying to figure out a floating build using the shipping container and having upper floor pieces to access it. Similar to your build but with the floor pieces and snapping accuracy 🤷🏻♂️🤔. If that makes sense lol
Unfortunately the containers don't actually snap to anything, so you'd have to manually align everything. Off the top of my head I can think of a possible way to (I think) make a blueprint that might make them snap on top of one another, but I'm not 100% sure. I'll have to test it out in tomorrow and see what I can come up with.
Waitwaitwait! at 1:48 you've been extra-quick on probably the most critical part :D So you...selected the foundation, then pressed "grow selection" twice? is there a specific order to select the items if, for instance, I can't use the "grow selection" tool? What's the correct order? (I heard it's important)
I didn't use 'grow selection' (that feature is weird and even I don't understand how it works), I used 'select structure' which just selects everything that's touching/attached.
Could this be used to get around that BS camp placement where it lets you place your camp module but doesnt let you slap down a small blueprint you made with foundations? Think i got a 2x6 hut i made with 4 turrets and an ally and shelter entrance with walls, ceiling, doorway, and stair in the vault style but i can never seem to place it anywhere when i move my camp. Honestly just wanna keep my camp as simple as possible but throw in all the things i need for various resources and crafting. Just need to not have any issue placing the blueprint when i move my camp.
2x6 is actually not at all small, and unfortunately I can see why you have trouble placing it. There's not a lot of terrain flat enough to handle that. What you could try instead is blueprinting it in maybe three 2x2 chunks, place down the middle one first and snap the side pieces to it. I have a system of modular blueprints that I use that way and they work pretty well.
@@kikibplays well I guess this shows how much of a noob I am with the camp system then. The radius it shows gives an incorrect impression of how big I can build then. Guess I'll have to figure out how to downsize it then. If anything I only intend to use it for items I can't place in the shelters anyway so I only need enough space for all of those items so I can just plop them down when I need them. I suppose I can have one camp dedicated to a static farming location for various resources and another intended to move around with me. Just gotta figure out how I can use two camps if at all possible. Bought a second from the atom store but I have a feeling it acts more like a load out then a Secondary camp I can place.
@raventhorX no, the camp radius shown is your entire build area, it's accurate. The issue is terrain. Any slope in the terrain is going to limit the size of what you can put down in a blueprint, because the silly build system basically (and I am really oversimplifying) expects all the foundations in the blueprint to be placed roughly the same height above the ground. It causes a lot of issues with large blueprints. Basically anything bigger than 2x2 or 2x3 is going to be difficult to place because there are so few spots in the game that are anything close enough to truly flat. Now, when you add in the fact that the game doesn't like to place down blueprints with upper floors, or with decor incertain places, it gets harder and harder to blueprint structures. Most folks don't bother, and just build a new camp each time they move, or have really basic blueprints they know they'll be able to place easily.
Is there an alternative to catwalks? Nothing else seems to snap to those columns... As a new player i don't have them. Are they returning items in the Atomic shop? Thank you so much, love your content!
There's no alternative, but they do return to the shop periodically. If you don't want to wait, you can try requesting them through a support ticket! Just make sure you have enough atoms (500, I think?). I'd recommend the Alien catwalks over the Vault ones, as I personally feel they look better in pretty much every setting (plain steel instead of bright white), but that's a personal preference.
Hi there! Do you know if the one method with with staircase was patched. The posts with the vault girls works just fine but when I get the blue to attach the staircase to it I only get "Iten is floating" :-(
As far as I know there haven't been any changes to the game since before I made this, so it should be working, but maybe there was a hotfix I didn't hear about or something?
Thank you very much for your reply. I just made it work but for some reason only using the two full posts blueprint, then I remove the top one and just works. With the short posts version it just don't go. Again, thank you so much, master :-)
Those pillars not snapping to corners... Made my eye twitch. OCD sucks in a Bethesda game lol. Edit: Woah woah woah woah woah! Blueprints actually work?? I can't get it to do anything on PC. I'll have to try again, will save me so much time aligning stuff.
Place the flamer down first, and then put the foundation down. That will help you align the height so the floor is just below the level of one of the flamer nozzles. You'll have a much easier time hitting the statue then.
