    So I've spent my life visiting and vacationing here. In my thirties my dad moved back here,he was born here,so I got to spend longer vacations here. Being that I stumbled across you during Gabby Petito VanLife I noticed you visited Morro Bay. Your relaxed kick back demeanor is nice and you show your day well with articulating each new move throughout your day. Anyway going subscribe and have you as my new Van life to watch. Without going into it everyone by now would know why not watch Gabby and Brian any longer.... Thank you for taking us on your journey

    If you are looking for stunning but overlooked/solitary drives on the central coast you can try the 166 from Santa Maria to Maricopa. You can then take the 5 or the 99 to Bakersfield for a little shopping/rest break. Also, taking the 101 and splitting off to the 246 which will take you past Solvang then switching to the 154, that drive from where you pick up the 154 all the way to Santa Barbara is just incredible. Granted its been 10 years since I was in CA.

    I'm not set up to cook, but I've become addicted to oatmeal. Organic thick cut whole grain oats + organic raisins + optional sprinkle of organic ginger powder + generous amount of water. Let soak for a while (maybe 20-30 minutes or so? Never timed it) = delicious oatmeal along with a refreshing portion of oat milk. Yum! Surfers can be fun to watch, but I agree that pelicans trump surfers. Never tire 9f those amazing creatures. Loved the view of the surf and rocks at the end. Not sure when I will have enough of ocean surf. Fortunately, I currently have time and access... Stay well.

    When I get sent to fly out of San Luis Obispo, I usually stay in Pismo Beach (home to the slide that goes down to the beach, kinda cool) during the day, and do similar trips up to Morro Bay... when I come in to land on mornings with low clouds, my view can be a bit different. The typical approach into San Luis Obispo usually has me flying over "the Rock" with it sticking up through the marine fog layer that's so common along the Pacific coast...a real sight too see.

    Hi Scott, I was wondering if you can give me an idea of how much you spend on food per month. I understand it likely varies depending on how often you eat out but just a ballpark average would be helpful. I'm considering living in my vehicle and trying to work out the potential monthly budget for myself. Thanks.

      My food budget is almost exactly the same as before vanlife.
      Think I will turn your question into my next Coffee Chat video. There’s a lot more to answering your question than you might realize.
      In short, I’m not the best candidate to ask about this topic. As I have a highly restricted diet, by most people’s opinion.

    • @StaticCamperVan
      @StaticCamperVan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      On second thought. I can’t seem to figure out a way to explain my thoughts on camera. So I won’t be making a video.
      If it helps, I spend between $150 to $300 a month on food. There really isn’t an average figure.

      @@StaticCamperVan Okay thanks, this is definitely helpful. I was guessing a potential food budget for me at $400/month give or take. I just didn't want to underestimate and potentially end up short.

    Hey Scott..do you know why a lot of the rest areas in Cal are closed ? I was down last year and the was a stretch from Red Bluff to Sacramento there were no rest areas open. I was told recently that even more were closed 🤔🧐🤨

    • @StaticCamperVan
      @StaticCamperVan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know. I’ve noticed a lot closed, too. Most say the Rest Areas are being remodeled. But I think it gas more to do with a labor shortage. With no one available to clean the restrooms, the state shuts them down.
