    Hello
    your vlog really helps me.
We are about to travel to Denmark this year to be with my husband. I have a 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter and of course as a mother , the education of my kids is one of my priorities.
Your video makes me relax a little to not panic when we will be in Denmark soon.
    God bless😊

Good point about giving them more options re: university, as there are way more courses in Danish. So much you have to consider both short and long term with kids...! Glad to see you're back, thanks for another fun video topic 😊👍

I'll just add: There are many courses in English in Danish universities.

You did the right thing putting the kids on a regular school. The schools are great. And allso it’s wery danish that kids need to be kids😊. No rush learning the abc, the kids have to play and have fun, and learn how to socialise in an relaxed mode😊

I am in a bi-national marriage. Wife is a German. From the start it was clear, that my kids would be brought up bilingual (My uncle married a Brit and their kids never learnt Danish....a fact, that really, really pssed them off, when they became adults). So I never spoke anything but Danish to them (except when they were in for a verbal smack-down...German is so much more efficient here). They ended up being fluent Danish speakers.
Here are my two cents: It is all about giving your kids the CHOICE. But in order for them to have a real choice, not just a verbal commitment, you have to choose an educational system, that gives them said choice.
Apart from that - schools are not only about languages. It is also about culture. In our case, we had the choice between a German school and Danish ditto - and if you know the German attitude to learning, the choice was easy. My youngest wet to a German school for a few years, but ended up WANTING to change, because he hated the attitude of the teachers.

    Hi Kelly,
I am father moving Denmark by 18th Feb. I have 2 kids of which one of them is 6 and a half years old studying in Year 2 in a British School in Qatar.
He was born in Sep 2016 and I wonder which grade he will need to attend if we decide sending him to Danish school. Your valuable feedback is highly appreciated for us since we do not want him to be disappointed at the school as you have mentioned in your video.

It does seem like the American school system is more 'result-driven' and not as laid back as the Danish. And I can certainly understand how you as an American educator could feel apprehensive for your children's acclimatization to the Danish ways...
I'm glad you got there ... even though you still seem a little.. uncertain about it...lol

Danish schools are pretty much paid for with taxes. International schools have fees that are expensive.

Really? I think the vast majority of Danes like Americans. Maybe you've been unlucky or maybe the Trump years have changed something, I hope not!
My niece is married to an American, so we've got one in the family. 🙂
