Thank you for the video. My my son broke the latch and your video helped me realize that one of the two locking bits is now missing (the brass one is there but the silver one is gone). Time to order a new lock
Thanks brother! Worked on my '92 GMC Vandura. Tricky enough cradling part of the doghouse in your lap and keeping the glove box door from flopping around. Also a little harder to see those tabs with this vehicle but with a little help from the force I got it! Just wanted to tighten the retainer with locktite. The latch was spinning on me. It's doods like you that make life that much easier....cheers!
TY for this video. I know this is an older video, but I noticed you had a twin stick transfer case. Nice set up! Also you actually had gloves in your glove box!
Thanks for the video. My 84 has the latch broken off. The latch and spring are missing so I can't get it to a place where the little tabs/tangs show in the windows for me to depress. Any ideas? Thanks!
Go to a junk yard/ bone yard/ pick a part / pick n pull. It should cost you less then $5. You could alswo try Cregslist and find someone parting out a truck. Any latch from 1973-1987 will work. Latches are the same from the trucks to the k5 blazer to the suburban. Some G series vans use the same latch as well.
Glad it helps some one out! Like I said in the vid this should give you a general idea. Sometimes they can be a bit trickey but seeing how it comes apart really helps.
@dumboloccs lock cylinder is easy. pull the steering wheel with a steering wheel puller. remove the lock platte c clip. install key and depress the black plunger in the colum and remove it. i don't have a steering wheel puller or i would make a vid.
The reason you need to know this is because you'll be replacing the glove box liner every 3 years. I've owned my '84 for almost 37 years and had to do this at least a dozen times.

If the latch knob gets broken off, silver solder ought to hold it.
