  • In this After Effects Tutorial, I'll show you how to animate and infinite zoom.

First of all, we'll add the background grid, made out of two polystar shapes.
Then we'll add the first square, animate the scale, duplicate and offset it until the whole timeline is filled up.
Then we need to find the first frame of the animation. That's actually where our work area needs to start. After creating a seamless loop, we'll add a second layer of detail to the squares.
Next, we take it one step further and add a contrasting white space to the loop. At some point, it's good to break the colour palette to keep the viewers' attention.
we add a new grid to the white space and use the set matte effect to cut it out.
I use music from Artlist: artlist.io

    Dope tutorial!
One question from a newbie: I've been messing with putting a CC sphere solid layer within the Set Matte layers for hours, trying to make it look similar to how it does in your finished product with the blue ball bouncing around in the space area - how do you have that sphere layer arranged within the comp to make it appear only within the empty space made by the Set Matte? This would be so helpful to know, so that I can add other objects besides a grid to animate within those empty spaces in the animation. Thanks a bunch, and keep making tutorials!

      Hi! Thx very much!
Set Matte is very picky in combination with other effects. So I created a round shape, using the ellipse tool and added the set matte effects to mask it out.
Then I added a layer style. In this case inner shadow to create the gradient.
You could also set the fill of the ellipse to radial gradient. Another possibility would be to duplicate the shape layer, change the color of the fill and add a soft mask to create a colour gradient.
Another way would be tu pre-compose the two orange layers (which fill the white space), make sure the fill is white and use that as alpha track matte for your elements. Then you don't need the "set matte" effect and can apply any kind of effects to your elements.
      Hope that wasn't too confusing:-)

I hate doing loops, it f up my mind like I'm very experienced with after effects but yet every time I see a loop it makes me pissed

😆 I somehow like them. You only need to animate a few seconds that move infinitely...

@@ManueldoesMotion i know but like i start doing it but once i look back at it after i finish too many steps and because it's a loop it starts messing with me
