I thought about putting a coolant filter on my 6.0 powerstroke but didn't think it was worth it. This video just changed my mind.

Wow, never knew you could do that. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 with the 5.9 liter inline cummins diesel engine with 253,000 miles. Still runs great & I have never had any engine work done. I change my oil, fuel & air filters on a regular basis. I don't think I have ever flushed my coolant. I did replace my radiator, so I put in new fluid then. Is there some kind of kit for Dodge Rams? My truck still has the ORIGINAL air conditioner compressor as well as the alternator. I had the water pump changed in a shop, but the serpentine belt, power steering pump, rack & pinion, fan clutch, & most of the AC components changed by me. Maybe I will get it to half a million miles.😊

Yep, Sinister Diesel and Thoroughbred Diesel both sell kits for the Cummins.

I’ve never seen anyone put a filter on antifreeze / coolant before. That just blew my mind on what came out of it. Is that just for diesels or should there be one on gassers? I have a 2008 f350 6.8 v10

6.0 diesels have issue with silica in the Ford recommended gold coolant. That sand can eventually chunk up and block the oil cooler causing a greater than 10 degree difference between coolant and oil temps at which point the cooler needs to be replaced. Haven't heard it ever happens on the v10

I stopped using Ford Gold coolant about 8 years ago when I did the bulletproof upgrades.
The material you see here is all sand from the casting of the block. We performed the full flush with the engine block plugs removed when switching to Rotella ELC (red) coolant.
The filter is still catching stuff but the oil cooler and EGR cooler are still performing well. (Upgraded Bulletproof EGR cooler has much larger ports that don’t clog as easily. I used the newer design oil cooler from Ford)
