I wish there was more awareness around the unethical breeding of French Bulldogs. They have such terrible breathing issues and so many other health issues. Ethical bulldogs are bred with a longer snouts so they have way less breathing issues. Thank you for rescuing honey bun.
It can be much the same with pugs, and I also blame the amount of social media pugs etc for them having so many health issues. I have a pug and you can see the relief on a vet she's never seen before's face when they see she's not overweight, doesn't have any breathing, hip, ear issues etc (we've lucked out that our spainel thinks our pug is her 'baby' and pins the pug down for ear cleaning about 50 times a day, so she's never had any ear issues.) I view preventing common co morbid conditions as much as possible and doing as much as possible to avieviate them if they occur as paramount to responsible ownership and that would apply regardless of what breed we own. When we got my pug we immediatly decided to set funds aside for her to have nasal resection done when she was spayed and though we've been fortunate that she's not had any breathing issues we still had it done as a precaution. I'd rather a dog not have an anesthetic when they already have compromised breathing to FIX said compromised breathing; that just seems counterintuative and unnecessarily risky. Our primary vet has said many pug owners don't want to have NR done and was super relieved when they suggested it and we said we'd always planned for her to have it done. Apparently they are often chewed out for suggesting it 'unnecessarily'. I do blame the amount of social media pugs for a lot of the health issues brachy breeds face, and our vet is inclined to agree with us. New vets we see are always suprised to see our pug not overweight and I would be not only mortified if she became overweight, but would fully expect to be chewed out by the vet as I view non medical obesity in dogs as the owner failing in their responsibilities, if its due to medication or thyroid trouble etc then of course not the owner's fault but many people buy pugs not knowing the breed standards and mistake 'cobby' as my country's standards describe the pug build, for overweight, causing multiple hip, breathing and skin issues. And of course many social media pugs are overweight meaning an inexperienced owner may mistake that for the breed standard. Even the stereotype of pugs screaming their heads off at nail clipping can potentially be linked to owners not clipping them enough, and not aclimitising them early enough, causing (according to our vet) the quicks to grow longer than average, and that in turn making it harder to trim their nails, making them scared of it. If you are willing to work on preventing and alieviating co morbid conditions even an unethicially bred dog can lead as full and healthy a life as a champion line or ethically bred dog, but there for sure needs to be more regulation with breeders and dog ownership to make sure that happens. That applies to all dog breeds, not just the brachy ones.
A lot of ethical breeders who breed the smushed face dog breeds are starting to breed out the smushed faces. Like you said, they are trying to breed longer snouts, unfortunately that is going to take a few generations before it becomes the more common trait since there was so much emphasis on the smushed faces for so long.
Ever since I was 5 me and my mom have rescued all our pets. We are adding a rescue Australian shepherd puppy soon. We currently have 3 rescue cats and one rescue mutt. Glad honey is recovering.
I'm almost crying watching this. A few weeks ago at the shelter I volunteer at we had to put our frenchie River down for exactly the same problem. One day our coordinator came in and saw his back half was completely paralysed and he was in so much pain. Ultimately the vet and coordinator agreed that euthanasia was the best course of action for our River. He was a grumpy Gus and hard to home so had been with us for over half a year, we were devastated at his loss. I'm so so happy you and the family didn't have to suffer that with Honey Bun and that she is making a full recovery. Further warning for all Frenchie lovers out there (as well as the other breeds susceptible) IVDD is more common amongst poorly bred dogs! Sadly with rescues poor breeding is often a given, but if you are thinking of buying this is one of the reasons it's so incredibly important to do your research into breeders and buy responsibly not just the easiest or cheapest option.
The only responsible way to get a dog when overpopulation has long been out of control....is not to go to a breeder at all. If you actually care about the millions of amazing dogs dying in shelters every year, that is. Endorsing someone who creates lives while we destroy so many others to make room? There is no such thing as a good breeder, no matter how much 'cope' a person can muster. ADOPT DON'T SHOP
@@MG-pj2oo obviously I'm completely on board for adoption but the ultimate reality is that there are always going to be people who go to breeders. Which is why it's important to encourage those people to at the very least go to breeders that do their best to ensure healthy puppies and help limit overpopulation by insisting that all puppies bought from them are fixed. I'm an advocate for looking into adoption first and buying second.
I am proud of honey 🍯 bun she is such a a lucky dog to have such a sweet and kind mom Rosanna you are so lucky to have such a sweet and adorable doggy honey bun. Get well soon Honey bun. ❤️❤️
No pet deserves to suffer. People like you are angels to rescue and making sure that any animal(s) are healthy. You’re such a great dog owner. Honey Bun is an adorable name! I’m happy that she’s doing better! ❤❤❤❤❤
My pup passed away In 2014 at only 5 years old due to complications from IVDD, and it was one of the hardest moments of my life. Since losing Benny, we’ve focused on owning pups with health issues, but after losing 2 more since then and seeing how it affects my kids, we’ve had to hold off on caring for special needs pups for the time being. Our only boy at this time is fairly healthy thank goodness, but special needs dogs need love too and we’re likely going to open our hearts again soon. The pain of losing them just hurts so much. 😢❤
As a person with back pain and disc problems, it's so sad to see such a innocent baby go through it too... hopefully no more problems for miss puppy here ❤❤❤❤
I'm so relieved that she has recovered so well. Maybe when she is feeling better you could reward her with an anything she wants from the pet store. I just rescued a miniature Border Collie and she was one of eight pups. Sadly, she was the only one who made it because the owner set out the mom and pups. So glad you all gave Honey Bun a good home with lots of love and two great sisters (Blueberry and Coconut).
We have pill boxes for every member of the household and the dogs are no exception. Whilst our dogs aren't on any perscribed meds, just supplements, it has been a lifesaver for keeping their med's separate if one is on antibiotics or they're due worming. We have a spainel and a pug and they have a minimum 7kg weight difference (our pug is on the petite side) and thus they take vastly different doses of the same wormer etc so we can't go mixing them up. We have ones with 4x daily slots so if they need to take an antibiotic a few times a day it can be dosed out in 1 go.
Honeybuns is sooo lucky to have you. You are such a good doggy mom! I love your organization for your dog's treats ,water and medicine drawer. Amazing! I will definitely look into your organizational bins .
I think she’s lucky because she has people to love, care about her and who have taken her to a vet. I have rescue and she’s just happy to be loved. Get better soon Honeybun!
This exact thing happened to my french bulldog! We also had to get this same surgery and my poor boy was on bedrest with IV's and had to stay with the vet for almost a full week. Then when we brought him home we had to keep him sedated and in an enclosed space for another 3 weeks as he recovered getting medication around the clock. It truly was so tough to see him like that but It's been about 3 months now post-op and our boy is back to being his rambunctious self! Very grateful to have our healthy boy back. Sending love to you and Honey bun❤
Honey Bun is the sweetest soul who found love with the greatest sweetest soul (Ro). Thank you Ro for giving her the life she and so many other animals deserve. You have the most amazing heart and you have blessed so many people and animals. We love you so much Ro!! People like you make this world so much better 💛🍯🍞🧡
So glad honeybun is doing so much better after surgery and that he mobility is improving. Her luck improved because y'all rescued her and she was able to get the care she needed. PS: There are businesses that will come clean your yard of dog poop for you so you don't have to and treat it for viruses.
Peta is not a reputable organization… please be careful when dealing with them, I’ve heard too many horror stories involving their practices, plus they will shame anyone who isn’t a vegetarian
She IS lucky, she has someone like you who is able to take care of her. Sometimes people don't have the means, just the love in their heart. She's forever lucky to have you. Someone with the time, money, and love in your heart. ❤❤
Sweet Honey Bun is doing so well. What a little trooper. We also bought elevated bowls for our 2 cats. They have a cute cat ear design that I couldn't resist
Well wishes to Honey Bun!! And sending good vibes for you. Taking care of a struggling dog is an immense amount of work and responsibility so you definitely deserve some good vibes sent your way!!
Poor little baby in honey buns glad she's doing better sending some more and more prayers. So happy for you Ro and Mike taking good care of her ❤ ❤❤. Awww this was such a wholesome video
God bless you both for taking such good care of Honey Bun. What a huge blessing you have been to her and how wonderful that she is getting the life that she deserves after all she has been through. So glad to hear a good report about her surgery!
I have a rescue dog which is a mix we've had in our family since... I was 2? Maybe 1 even! He's still alive but we also have a chocolate lab. A couple months ago my mom had to fly him to Nassau, Bahamas so he could have emergency surgery as well. Turned out, he scrounged up a baby coconut seed??? Since then he's been in love with sea animals for some reason. Poor Honeybun! Sending love to y'all!
I'm so glad you were able to get her surgery, she is doing awesome.. I had a dog named peanut and he lost the mobility in his backed legs but he was too old for surgery but on his own he started walking, I was a proud mama
That sweet girl was meant to find you to love and take care of her! She’s such a fighter and Ro you’re such a great dog mom! You’re a huge inspiration to me in every way! ❤❤

I'm so glad Honey Bun is doing well!! It's amazing how much dogs can overcome and still have as much love spewing out of them for us and for life as they do. We don't deserve them🥰🐶
I’ve been through IVDD with both of my doxies. I was able to go the conservative treatment route. Crate rest & drugs. My Pablo is almost back to his normal self. I would highly recommend acupuncture for Honey Bun. It’s a game changer in their recovery.
I had a freak out from my cat when she was a year old, I heard her LITERALLY ripping her fur out, from ribcage and down her back legs, followed by a rash, I took her picture of the rash which was everywhere including around her butt, and shared them on the Facebook cat groups asking if they have or had a cat or cats that this happened to. A majority came in half was possible bug bites but others said food allergy. Course I took it seriously but I wanted to know by her vet, she too said food allergy. Ever since then I feed her seafood only ingredient cat food. As the rash was going away and her fur was coming back I thanked everybody on the groups using what would Mae's words.
Ro I’m so inspired by you and your dogs, and I wish that I could have more but the big baby that I own just doesn’t get along with other dogs that it would be so hard to find another dog that he would actually like and accept in our family. It’s just so awesome that we have these amazing creatures on our planet and I’m always excited to watch another video of yours, love ya!!
Oh goodness, my first dog was a basset hound mutt we rescued from a guy that was going to use her in a puppy mill. She had so many health issues, and a slipped disc was one of them. I feel for you and Mike, and I hope your sweet babies have a happy, healthy, long life!❤
I’m so happy honey bun is doing so well, u and Mike r great fur baby parents ❤ and honey bun deserves pet parents like yall, no animal should have to suffer thro the hands of any one, she is very lucky ❤
Honey Bun may have had it rough. But she won the doggy lotto when she found your family. I know the rest of her life is gonna be amazing. She deserves it all!! Ty for sharing her story. 🧡🖤🧡
Love you guys and so happy Honey Bun is recovering well, but Peta is not reputable (you should research their practices). Sending you all lots of love!! 😊😊
I'm so so glad that Honey Bun is doing well! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 I hope her recovery keeps going well 🙏🏻 I hope you'll add a Honey Bun plush to your shop soon! Love you!
I have a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog and they’re known to have slipped discs too as well as arthritis 😢 luckily my big boy hasn’t had any problems yet but I’m glad Honey Bun is getting better 🥰
Ro, thank you for sharing all of the information on your beautiful fur babies. I'm so happy that honey bun is doing well. In blueberry and cocoa are so amazing and I love how you include Molly's dog 2 he's also a cutie pie. Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.☮️😊♥️
Love you Ro and Mike but don’t scare me like that with this title you guys gave me a heart attack! Glad to constantly see through your social media that she’s doing fine.❤❤
Hi ro I'm so glad that you rescued honey bun and I love how organised you are I love how much you care for your dogs thank you for giving me a smile every time I watch one of your videos thank you!!!!
I'm glad Honey Bun is doing much better.! My shepherd had hip dysplasia. She passed away peacefully 3 years ago of stomach cancer. We miss her every day,
Little honey bun is so brave and I will be rooting for her. She seems like she has been through quite a bit of a rough time.I believe in her and I wish you and honey bun the best of luck🐶🐶🐕🐕😁😁😛😛
I had a German Shepherd for 8 years. One day we came home and he wasn't able to stand and he was having a lot of accidents because he couldn't get up to go to the bathroom. We took him to the vet and they did surgery but unfortunately it never got better 😞 he struggled and we ended up losing him. I'm so glad that honey bun is doing better
I know exactly what this is like to have in a dog. Just a little bit over a year ago my precious dog Mia had to get put down. She didn’t have a split disc but instead a ruptured one. We monitored her and ended up taking her to the vets a day or two after due to trouble getting her in. She was in lots of pain and as well was paralyzed from the waist down. I begged my parents to do surgery but it they said no because the surgery had a high chance of not working. So we put her down because it came down to what quality of life she would have if given the surgery.
My miniature dachshund is 12 months post op for his IVDD surgery, and although it was a long road and hard work, it was 100% worth going through it all to help him. The surgeons gave me back my baby❤
Hey Rossana! Glad to hear that Honey Bun is doing better. Not like I don't absolutely love your new content or anything, but just wanted to know if you're by chance planning any new baking videos/ Nerdy Nummies in the near future? Those are my favorites! Anyway, amazing video as always! ❤
This happened to my friends dog! It was so sad. The surgery cost a bloody fortune, and the healing was a long, terrible process but she's doing great now
Am so happy about honey bun Ro... Lots of love from me... I was wondering if U cud make an ASMR video with your dogs... I still watch the one U made with cookie... Let me finish by saying I love U so much Ro... You are truly an inspiration to me....
Wow Ro. You take better care of your dogs than most people take care of themselves. That is pretty awesome. I don’t have any dogs cuz I am heinously allergic to dogs. It’s not pretty when my allergies set off around dogs. Cats I’m fine with, probably bc I’ve been around cats my entire life and my body just got used to them. We’ve always gotten our cats from shelters. I don’t understand the reason why people wouldn’t honestly. The animals at the stores look so sad! I’ve heard not to go to Petco or any cheap looking pet store. I’ve been in them and they just look old and dirty. Not the place for an animal to be. Idk about PetSmart though. I know they have adoption events where local shelters can show what animals are up for adoption but that’s really limited. I love going in there and seeing all the kitties! My heart wants to adopt all of them!
Thank you all for the kind words to Honey Bun, it means so much to us over here.
Always! She's amazing 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
She is so cute
We love you and your dogs ro well always be here for you guys ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Or u should definitely colab with Natalie Sidesurf

I had a German Shepherd for 8 years. One day we came home and he wasn't able to stand and he was having a lot of accidents because he couldn't get up to go to the bathroom. We took him to the vet and they did surgery but unfortunately it never got better 😞 he struggled and we ended up losing him. I'm so glad that honey bun is doing better
Feel better soon Honey Bun big cuddles ❤

Lol coconuts face in the picture my mood when I have to get my picture taken
I know exactly what this is like to have in a dog. Just a little bit over a year ago my precious dog Mia had to get put down. She didn’t have a split disc but instead a ruptured one. We monitored her and ended up taking her to the vets a day or two after due to trouble getting her in. She was in lots of pain and as well was paralyzed from the waist down. I begged my parents to do surgery but it they said no because the surgery had a high chance of not working. So we put her down because it came down to what quality of life she would have if given the surgery.
We love you honey bun ❤❤
My miniature dachshund is 12 months post op for his IVDD surgery, and although it was a long road and hard work, it was 100% worth going through it all to help him. The surgeons gave me back my baby❤
Hey Rossana! Glad to hear that Honey Bun is doing better. Not like I don't absolutely love your new content or anything, but just wanted to know if you're by chance planning any new baking videos/ Nerdy Nummies in the near future? Those are my favorites! Anyway, amazing video as always! ❤
Honey bun is so cute❤
Blueberries little look when honeybun accidentally stepped on her was just the funniest with her little tounge 😛 hahaha so glad honeybun is recovering
Blueberry is so patient with other dogs, puppies, kids, etc. She is teaching Honey Bun so much 🐶❤️
This happened to my friends dog! It was so sad. The surgery cost a bloody fortune, and the healing was a long, terrible process but she's doing great now

I love Honey Bun so much
Am so happy about honey bun Ro...
