    Shouldn't use to much science on DBS, because if they move faster than the speed of light, they blow up everything in their path. The molecule in front of them will heat so much, that will blow like atom bombs.

    So UI is basically extreme muscle memory...

    • @KirinDave
      @KirinDave 6 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Goku's fists are autonomous to his brain. His knees are sentient. His entire body is a collective, every cell individually awakened and focused on the fight.
      That's why it's a divine state. The gods exist, as stated, as creatures with a Purpose. When THEY enter this state it's them becoming one with that Purpose. It's very surprising that non-Gods can do it, and probably why Goku has a physical transformation associated with it.

    I thought the heat was goku's Ultra Instinct energy not being used efficiently (thus being released as heat, just like a light bulb operating inneficiently generates more heat per lumen of light produced. Like incandescent lights vs fluorescent lights.) therefore escaping his body as heat instead of being used in his attacks. Basically his Ultra Instinct transformation outputs more energy than his incomplete Ultra Instinct fighting style can use before his body is unable to handle the volume and therefore releases it as heat. I think truly mastered ultra instinct uses the same amount of energy as it produces, which explains why Whis (a master of UI) doesn't have any detectable heat but still has had Ultra Instinct for a long time apparently.

    • @o15523
      @o15523 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Whis never experienced the heat because Angels have perfect bodies and don't have to deal with inefficiencies which produce heat. It's likely(almost certain) that he's never trained a mortal to the level of Ultra Instinct and so the heat would be foreign to him. Jiren is a mortal and speaks about the heat with more familiarity, which makes sense.

    When I saw this episode I was actually reminded of the Japanese honey bee. The way Goku's arms were down vibrating fast as he built up heat to attack. Even Jiren stated that Goku gathered all of this heat to defeat him. The way it reminded me of honeybees is how honey bees kill wasps, to be more specific the Japanese honey bee cannot hurt or sting the giant wasps of Japan so the bees swarm around the wasp instead and use their vibrating flight muscles to create heat. The mass of bees will heat the area up to about 120°F enough to cook the hornet alive. In the same way I believe this is where the idea of using heat to destroy Jiren came from. Goku (honeybee) Cannot sting (hurt)Jiren (wasp) so he uses heat to overwhelm or defeat his enemy

  • @lukastefanovic5378
    @lukastefanovic5378 6 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    Your explanation is wrong. If heat was due to extreme speeds then Jiren would emit heat. Jiren emits heat only when he wants to, when he powers up for example. And Goku is emiting heat even when he is not moving so thats not it

    • @Menace_sti
      @Menace_sti 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Luka Stefanovic exactly my theory is when he just stands there and is not moving causing zero heat(what geekdom describes as real heat) . i believe that heat is from his ape energy as a saiyan trying to loose all that anger from his saiyan blood and calm himself to trust his body to move and have the ki needed when needed to attack. And he pushes it all out of his body to purify his body(causing the galaxy) b4 he attacks jiren he then sucks it back in to his body when he goes MUI.idk how much sense that makes but.. thats the best i can do to explain to myself what that is

    • @KirinDave
      @KirinDave 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This idea is even weirder than Geekdom's "only Son's body is subject to thermodynamics" rule.

      I always thought of it as this. Jiren matched goku UI forms by pure power. He didn’t need UI to reach that level of combat. So basically he didn’t produce heat exactly like goku but definitely produced some.

  • @deathma537
    @deathma537 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've been personally thinking that the "Heat" around goku was kind of like his sixth sense, allowing his body to react to the dangers around his body, and the heat was a way to show that idea. And i saw goku in the newest episode surrounded in all this heat, and when they called it his "energy" i gm then thought of it as a mana like aura surrounded around him.

    I love your theory to explain UI heat, but something that has always bothered me is the friction they undergo while moving. These characters are moving at light-speed and faster. In the real world, as things get faster friction between the air and the moving objects causes heat too. (Like a space shuttle on re-entry)
    At "normal" levels we don't experience it at all. But you would think that just the act of moving their limbs at those speeds would cause them to incinerate! (But we could always chalk it up to Ki... protecting them)

    • @Sun-cg6lv
      @Sun-cg6lv 6 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Kayenng Thao yeah they trained their bodies to withstand planet busting Galaxy busting and most likely universal busting attacks so yeah their bodies aren’t going to incinerate especially if Goku can withstand a hakai

    • @sagua85
      @sagua85 6 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Loose physics is often a trope employed in many fiction because it gets in the way of storytelling, like having sound effects in a vacuum, or talking normally with your opponent in a supersonic chase. You are correct that in the real world, all these bodies and limbs moving at or above light speeds would create friction so great that every punch they throw would create an atomic explosion (see xkcd's relativistic baseball article).
      As for UI, in my opinion they've suggested in the series that it goes far beyond having ultimate muscle memory and reflexive response. The name of the technique implies a total mastery of the self, and I think its effects extends to the point where every part of your body is able to sense and react on its own before the mind does. So, maybe, this puts every part of your body into a hyperactive and hypersensitive state, allowing the user to generate and use energies far beyond their usual limit, and the excess energies that the body is not conditioned to regulate is given off as heat. That would be my take on it until they reveal more on it.

      Kayenng Thao Don't think too logically about dragonball, but yeah probably Ki.

    • @BrendonCap
      @BrendonCap 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well actually, friction is not what causes a space should to heat up during re-entry. It's the compression of the atoms against the surface of the object causing the heat. Just a fun fact

    • @astrogecko1650
      @astrogecko1650 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they would, but I think using real world science to explain dragonball is kinda silly. Real world science depends on observations of our world, and observations of the dragonball world contradict these in more cases than not.

    The heat was originally shown as the red aura/halo of energy when UI omen was first shown in the promo art. The heat should be directly proportional to the strength of his physical attacks, hence why as the heat increased in size, the more effective his physical attacks became against Jiren.

    The Law of Thermo Dynamics does apply to heat as you have explained it, but I would add to that, more generally that it is the principle that energy is not created or destroyed but transferred from one form to another. It's the basis for E=MC2, and the splitting of the atom, in nuclear bombs.
    I think what Goku has mastered, (by not allowing his thoughts to distract from this process), is the perfect flow, and unimpeded cycle of energy, (as displayed by the heat and aura that form around him). I know you've said it's not that the heat is leaking from his body, but in a way it is. What Goku did, if you remember when he produced that massive spiral of energy that repelled Jiren before he produced that condensed ball of energy that looked like a miniature star, was was take that energy and absorb it back into himself. They showed this as if Goku were breathing the energy back into himself.
    In the beginning Goku wasn't doing that. It was like Goku figured out how to tap into this new production of energy out of nothing, but hadn't yet figure out how to control it. Which is why its would dissipate, and Goku would fall out of Ultra Instinct. Because he didn't understand how control such a massive flow of energy without exhausting himself.
    The Super Saiyan form are a pure, raw massive bump in physical power, energy, and stamina, only limited by his body's ability to wield it, and his martial arts mind. The Stamina is gained later as he trained himself in the hyperbaric chamber and the battles that pushed him to the limit of his survival against Cell, and Majin Buu. Ultra Instinct is as we've been saying a state of mind, or heart and soul, that allows Goku to control an unlimited source of energy, potentially or theoretically. And I say that literally, while qualified by potentially and theoretically because there is no real definitive concept for an infinite quantity of anything. What we understand is the idea of growth, and Goku has done that. And we understand cycles, which is another form of infinite continuity. That is the essence of the paradox of "Breaking One's Limits". It's surpassing the unknown to discover more than you thought was there.

    I think your tryna explain something that doesn't require a real world scientific explanation. It's not really meant to be scientifically explainable. Its just Dragon ball bro. Your explanation doesn't really make sense anyways. Obviously Goku's moving faster in UI than he ever has before but surely if the characters are moving at many times the speed of light than this heat would have been a factor earlier in the series. Obviously to a lesser extent but still.

I study thermodynamics when I was studying atmospheric science in college and you’re absolutely right velocity does increase work which also increases one’s exothermic energy output. F=MA also so the higher the speed the more powerful the force so there’s also that.

    Great review. The concept of kenetic energy and motion was a great touch but I feel something else was missing. In a previous episode, Wis had mentioned to Goku about the lack power he has in his base form and how he had to increase this to become stronger.
    I know that, if you have some container, i.e Goku, that cannot change in size, and as you increase the amount of energy stored in it, it will cause the container to heat up. The energy increase that was necessary for goku in UI form can easily explain why he is putting out so much heat.
    This along with Motion, has allowed him to release more heat than we could ever expect.

    I think it's the manifestation of Goku's will. Like what whis said. And Goku emits heat even when he's standing still. And I'm pretty sure speed alone couldn't go toe to toe with Jiren. He's need some kind of energy. But he isn't leaking any of that energy.

Playing with the idea that having a form that powerful comes with immense responsibility could be an interesting story device going forward.

    Each of us on a cellular level produce, store, express energy. If we were able to take that energy and somehow put it in a container, throw the container at something it would be like an atom bomb. Because Goku's ki is so vast he can vibrate at a higher rate. With ui(and saiyan physiology) Goku is obviously vibrating and creating heat energy at a higher rate. But its more than that. The instinctive part of it seems to be spiritual and metaphysical. He has adapted and evolved to a higher plane of existence. Jiren is in way over his head. This shit is basically...a wrap!

    Geekdom, I like your channel, but with all due respect, your idea has a few scientific holes. Your idea that heat is a direct result of movement is not correct. When it comes to people, yes, there is a correlation, but the relationship is not as black and white as you are making it out to be. For one, heat is not produced from our body simply because it is in motion. It produces heat because it is using energy. If a person were lunched through space by a source of energy other than themself (like a rocket launching an astronaut into space), then their movement would not produce heat. This is because the body does not use any energy, to achieve that movement. Now i will concede tat there are exceptions to this rule. Such as when a meteor enters into earths atmosphere and burns up due to the speed at which it travels. But even then, that it not a direct result of the meteor's movement, but the friction between it and the earth's atmosphere. In the vacuum of space, the meteor was moving at comparable speeds but did not burn up, because there was no friction. So no matter what, movement leading to heat HAS to involve a supplier of energy. Whether that be our own bodies to create energy in the form of heat (and kinetic energy as you rightfully stated), of friction with the atmosphere, the relationship between movement and heat in not as clear-cut as you say.
    What you say might not be completely wrong though. I think that it is the first step of what i believe to be a better explanation. Perhaps the heat is a result of the friction between Goku and whatever atmosphere the tournament of power battlefield has. I know that it cannot be the heat released from Goku's body, because then he would need to cool down by sweating (which i have not seen). The only explanation I can see right now is Goku's friction with the atmosphere similar to that of a meteor entering earth's atmosphere.
    Of course, my explanation also has flaws. If it really were the friction, then Goku's clothes and even his body would burst into flames. Somehow Goku must be shielding himself from the heat. How? I don't know. Maybe you could help me out on this. This is one of my favorite parts of making theories. Two minds (or more) are better than one. By communicating and pointing out each others' explanations' weaknesses, we can synthesize a strong conclusion. I might have got some science wrong to. If you (or anyone reading) notices, please let me know.
    Either way, I like thinking about this kind of thing. While I don't think that Toriyama thought about this stuff himself, I don't think that that makes us wrong. I enjoy thinking about this kind of thing.

      Sorual I thought heat was energy which was “lost” due to friction..and when you think about energy...in dB universe...all these characters have enough energy to destroy universes..but even though they do have to eat....which supplies a minuscule amount of energy compared to what they have...and btw why do they have to eat in the first place?surely the power requirements to run a organic body doesn’t surpass all of the energy in the universe outside of them now does it?lol

    • @Menace_sti
      @Menace_sti 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gokus heat is not from movement its his new aura powe..pressure if you will.. jiren shit even dyspo are moving so fast they could create heat but no one mentions that. I believe when jiren says" are you releasing all this heat to defeat me then i will also show my heat" jiren doesnt understand it nor do the angels or gods.. since noone new saiyans can transform this might be just how the transformation was able to be achieved.. i believe the roars that goku was making were the roars of his saiyan cells within him trying to understand what was happening and goku letting go of the anger that powers his saiyan transformations. Therefore releasing it out of his body and trusting his body to move and attack with alot of power. And therefore sucking up all that heat back into his body becoming the mui form we see now. And now i believe goku will speak and have full control of everything. This all sort of reminds me of when zuko form the last airbender needed to find a new power source to produce fire other than from anger itself.. i hope this all makes sense. This is what helps me understand what all this is.

    Not bad! I feel your on to a pretty cool idea but feel like the simplest answer would be the best one for this heat explanation. So... I don't feel the movements are the cause of the heat because the heat can still be felt even when he is not moving. Kinda hard to accept movement being the key here since it hasn't been stated that he's constantly in motion even while standing still. THAT would create heat at all times. But this isn't the case, I feel that this is actually Goku's energy. Back when he first attained God form it was stated that not everyone can sense God ki... and then even with Blue form, there still isn't ki to be found. The show set this as the standard, and I don't feel I missed an episode where that has changed? Very powerful fighters like Freeza still can be sensed because his golden form was not said to be a GOD form for his race. Even Jiren has had his strength sensed and it is said that he is very strong but he is hiding is energy, not that it's god ki and cannot be sensed. Ok, with that in place we have had Wis stating the Goku has been "breaking" his shell and I believe that this is why we feel the heat. Goku has now surpassed his god form or "shell" that holds back his massive energy and now the energy he puts off is beyond even that of the Gods, and can now be sensed in the form of heat. Since its been a bit hard for the show to explain actual levels of power for us to understand in super I feel that this is what they came up with. I don't believe that the word power will be used much or at all from this point on in the show because Jiren has been producing that same kind of heat as well and can basically produce fire from it if I'm not mistaken lol. I see Goku attaining a similar Blue fire to represent his rising heat to combat Jiren' s heat since the whole red and blue thing as been a trend for the fighters. Since these 2 are not Gods and a mortal body cannot contain this massive energy spike they have attained, the heat created is a result is basically what I am saying!! Have a good one folks👍🏾

    • @Pragabond
      @Pragabond 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with you. At least I agree 100% with it not being him moving because they were talking about heat when he transformed and hadn't even moved yet. I think it's just the shows way of showing if he's stronger since they can't sense his energy. Basically, yeah, a new "His power level is huge" except instead turned into "He's so hot". That came out weird.

    Not just that, when you move(especially fast as Goku is) the air and your skin collides, and the faster the collision the more heat generated on the skin.
    It may be a good explanation to what causes Goku to heat immensely, aside from the fact that body parts get heated by just being active/used(the heat originally generated from the muscles, "body" is just too vague ;P ).

      4 that’s the million dollar question. Is he using an enhanced version of god Ki or something more? I think it’s the latter because I believe the pinnacle of God Saiyan Ki was Vegeta Evolved Transformation. Since the Ultra Instinct Omen was just given to Goku our of no where. I believe it’s got to be the Ki higher than the Gods of destruction. What Whis said in the last episode, He is using the Power of Gods.

      D Edwards exactly in episode 109-110 whis did not think it was ultra instinct because he did not recognize the heat. And jiren said that the heat was his limit. Well, in Yoga and Taoism, you have the lifeforce or vital principle called prana or chi/ki, which can be harnessed and magnified through certain techniques such as Tai Chi, Qigong and meditation, which involves the suppression of discursive thought. Whis did mention that Goku finally developed the complete UI when he was finally able to concentrate exclusively on the fight, letting go, surrendering to his inner nature, essentially stopping the rational and intellectual part of the mind. BTW, this heat that Goku is generating is rooted in reality. Qigong exercises generate a lot of heat and can help with weight loss and after some months you will actually feel a tingling vibratory sensation traveling through your body, which might be chi. Also there is a famous Tibetan buddhist esoteric practice called tummo, one of the six Yogas of Naropa, where the monk does a specific breathing technique(pranayama in Yoga) that makes him heat up so much that you can actually dry wet clothes using this heat. Some ascetics use this technique to survive in the Himalayan mountain ranges. Chi as an internally generated energy force is not recognized by the scientific community, but from my personal experience, it is a reality that cannot be measured by scientific instruments. If properly applied and developed, some say it can lead to Kundalini awakening or Enlightenment. It is also mentioned in Japanese, Korean and Chinese Zen literature

    I think Goku is producing heat because of how powerful he has become. Due to Sayian mutation and obviously powering up from Super Sayian Blue. He is producing heat because he is crazy powerful, now more than Jiren. And we can see a similar heat distribution when Jiren powers up as well. And keep in mind Jiren has not mastered self movement. He only has crazy strength (2nd to Goku).
    Think about it nerds

    • @deathstro9763
      @deathstro9763 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ultra Instinct Omen was still not stronger than Jiren.. lol Goku has fought Jiren twice in UI Omen and lost both times he only used his full power against Mastered UI and obviously Goku is stronger and only lost in Ep. 130 due to his form running out cause he is a mortal and being a saiyan doesn't help cause he's used to using rage and releasing his ki in his super saiyan forms and using god ki and infinite ki control in his god forms and now abandoning all of that for a form that utilizes every part of the body purely based off instinct and can over power any normal fighter or warrior and he gained all of this in 48 minutes of course his body can't sustain the form for long periods of time it's not due to the drainage of ki or stamina like when he turns SSJ3 but this form runs out due to his body not being innate with his ultra instincf form and capabilities..

    Don't worry about overthinking. If other people don't want to do it, that's their fault. But that is why I love this channel. You know what you are talking about, have good insight and capability to infer. I think it is a valid point, connecting the heat to kenetic energy. I know you said it has nothing to do with energy but I wonder since Super Saiyan blue is a suppression of the energy in the aura to be inside the body, I wonder if that is the reason that everybody perceives Goku's energy in Ultra instinct to be minimal. Heat is emitted from the body when practicing meditation and focusing one's energy into their own physical body. It's hard to relate to Dragon Ball, because of the different types of energy in the aura and to be controlled. I like the representation that Dragonball does with the different colors and the relationship between that and what they mean. I just wonder if it doesn't have to do with the energy at all, because this form is supposed to be higher than Super Saiyan blue or even Vegeta's new transformation. I was only wondering about this because he's putting off more heat after mastery and the main difference between mastered and unmastered Ultra instinct is not the speed it is the type of movement that he's doing.

  • @ytmndman
    @ytmndman 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I usually like your videos but this is pretty flawed. For example the heat was only coming from Goku and not Jiren when they were fighting and Jiren was at least as fast. So why wasn't Jiren releasing so much heat if he was equally fast? And Dyspo in his normal form is faster than the speed of light so it's probably safe to say that Goku and Jiren are faster, but kinetic energy doesn't work at faster than light speeds.
    So yeah the heat has nothing to do with just speed and kinetic energy.

As n why it was amazing or not lol, who animated it, how long it might have tooken etc. Something up that alley. Good luck brother!

      Because goku has been shy when it comes to showing his front tail since he became a adult. If you want to see it I suggest watching dragonball. He whips it out alot as child.

      Goku doesn't have a human anatomy. He's an alien. A Saiyan. I think we can attribute his brawn and biological and physical endurance to his genetics. I mean the guy doesn't eat like a normal homosapien. His biological structure must be vastly different from a human being. Tbh I have no idea how he can even procreate with a homosapien. He's a completely different species.☺

      A saiyan body whos trained their whole life and has survived attacks from someone who is stronger than their god of destruction? Hmm such heat is fodder for him.

    You are right in the sense that his heat is from the speed from his movements but it is also from his accelerated adrenaline from purely feeling Jiren's movements but also everything around him.

    The way I understood it as of this past episode is: the heat goku was releasing in UI proved to be its limit in the past because he would drain himself of the stamina needed to maintain the form due to the heat his hyper fast movements gave off. In episode 129 he was able to find a way around this by materializing all the heat he had released in the form of the nebula looking shape right before he masters UI. You can see goku absorbing the energy from the nebula before Jiren powers up his blast. I believe goku reabsorbed all the heat released over the course of that battle and internalized it, allowing him to obtain the mastered form of UI. If the heat is what is needed to maintain the form, it would make sense that if he was able to reabsorb all the heat from the course of the battle at once, it would give him the jump start needed to obtain the mastered form.

    I think it goes beyond any possible example we could give, including throwing a basketball. Even then, they are subconscious mental processes at play. Judging distances and angle and all that. Ultra Instinct goes beyond instinct. You are no longer throwing the ball. Your arms are, independent of you. Your body no longer responds to your will, it becomes your will.
    Even instinct requires mental processes. With Ultra Instinct, even before you have time for instinct to kick in, you are already acting.

    The term you're looking for with athletes is called "In the Zone" or "On fire" ironically. It's easiest to see in basketball when a player stops thinking and starts doing unbeievable things for a short burst of time and they start hitting everything they shoot. If he continues to hit the announcers will even say he's "Unconscious" They'll also do what they call a "Heat Check" shot, where they'll chuck up anything after hitting a few shots in a row to see if they're abou to be on fire.

    A solid explanation video. The thermodynamic law at work here is the Stefan-Boltzmann law. For perfect radiators called black bodies the Stefan-Boltzmann law states that the energy flux is equal to the Stefan-Boltzmann contant times the absolute temperature to the 4th power. This law can be used to estimate of the temperature of stars.
    Real world objects are not ideal black bodies so for these objects the emissivity is multiplied to the product of Stefan-Boltzmann constant and absolute temperature to the 4th power. The emissivity of a real world object is dependent on the radiation's wavelength (since c = wavelength * Frequency, the emissivity can also be expressed as dependent on frequency. In addition since light's energy = Planck's constant * Frequency, the emissivity can be expressed as dependent the radiation's energy).
    One minor correction though Goku is losing total energy be it fictional energies such as ki and genki or real world energies such potential energy (gravitional or electromagnetic), kinetic energy (motion), Gibbs Free Energy (chemical), or Rest Mass Energy (sub-atomic). Even though it is not explained (outside of the troll answers like "Toriyama"), it has to come from somewhere.

    "Man's not hot" is a quote from Big Shaq, that is not in fact about the fact that it is cold and he wishes to wear a jacket, but it is instead the hint that to be weak is to be "Not hot", so Ultra Instinct is simply the process of "Man's Hot" at work.
