1) if you using it only in manual mode, you can use the Nikon version on the Leica too. 2) to update your flash use a cable with USB-A and not USB-C on both sides. 3) the Leica trigger only works in TTL on SL2, M10 and Q2, Q3 with flashes that have updated firmware . No M11 support
For those of us who don't need high speed sync and TTL capabilities but do like their triggers compact, the Adorama Flashpoint R2 Single Pin Transceiver is worth a mention. Only around $25, brand agnostic, and low profile. Mates nicely with my Zf. Just a thought.
I am also eagerly awaiting the Leica version of the X3 for my Q (type 116). I have the Godox XPro II L and TTL works flawlessly. Even the TCM feature works perfectly. Just be sure that you set the correct flash unit (AD100,AD200 etc.) you are using in the transmitter menu.
I really don't know why Godox doesn't make this the default setting. It's the first thing I change on a new trigger. Quick heads up on charging: If you use a USB C to USB C cable and a charger that supports Power Delivery it won't charge (same is true for the USB charger that comes with the V1 and the V1Pro batteries which can be charged directly). I use a USB C to USB A cable to charge my V1 batteries. If I need to charge it from my Macbook charger I stick a USB A to USB C converter plug on the end. It's a long shot but failure to update firmware is often cause by cable problems. You could try using the above cable to try and update the firmware on your recalcitrant devices.
Thank you for the charging advice. But as far as the updates, I have tried every single cable available without any luck. And like I said, I have upgraded other items, but these two flashes just won’t go
It looks perfect, and I can't wait for it to be available. The Leica version also lists Panasonic, so I'm hoping that is what the final version of that will be. (The website seems to have removed that now, so it's unclear.) I've got an old GR and X100 which would benefit from such tiny triggers, too, so if they're good I'll be "collecting them all"! Please show some more videos with this and the new V1 Pro.
All sounds good. You'd have to leave it on the charger to be ready for each use because Godox says it takes 2 HOURS to fully charge the tiny internal battery. I suppose a slow trickle charge is better for the battery's health, but 2 hours?? I'd picked up the X2-T shortly before Christmas and got started using it. But what I soon discovered is that unless I was frequently adjusting power output ... I'd forget how to do that yet. Love the thumbwheel but very often I didn't have the group or whatever selected --- and IMO the display isn't clear about that --- and so the wheel often did nothing. My other issue with the X2-T is that the battery indicator doesn't work with NiMH batteries. And so today while out shooting my daughter's prom photos on location, I got no trigger transmission. Of course, it was not my shoot. The photo opportunity belonged to the 10 moms with their phones, and all the girls were in shadow. So there was no chance to sort it out ... just keep shooting and try to fix it in post. Should I have thrown in fresh batteries? Yes. Was the display fully working and controlling the light output? Yes! But it would not trigger the light. I was not near other 2.4GHz things. Went back to the car and it fired a few times. Got back home and out of about 15 test firings it missed one. So after all of that, I still can't prove it's because the batteries were weak.
I always by two of any flash/trigger I get as a backup but to be honest, I’ve done 3 shoots with the first unit and still haven’t charged it so I think it will be good in terms of power.
The major issue to me is that the knob is on the right. Most people hold their cameras with their right hand as most cameras' inherent grip design is for holding with the right hand. That's the main reason I'm not buying this right now. My disdain for that might wane a bit with time, though. We'll see lol.
Nice when things work as they should. I might pick this up for my Leica to replace the XProII if it can work with TTL. Ill let you try it first … haha.
I'm back at you again. I'm happy that you like this product. I have one on backorder from B&H I have been a Canon Shooter since point and shoot digital cameras came out. I have been through Rebels, 5D's and now I have my R6mkII They just fit my (Lower) skill level What I didn't like was Canon's overpriced and underperforming flashes back in the day.I was looking to change and I stumbled upon Godox at a small local chain or stores in Southern, California; Samy's Camera. One of the Salesmen recommended Godox Flashes and I have never looked back They work for me. I am a hobbyist vs professional but I take some damn good pictures with my Godox Flashes I can't wait to connect my camera with the new Nano X3 Thanks again laying "Shit" down! 🤣
I go back and forth. Love the size and look. That said, it’s a tactile thing for me. I liked my old BlackBerry more than any iPhone I’ve had since. Just like buttons I guess.
Hello. I received my godox x3 today and it's very good and precise. But I have found it strange that two flashes recieve the same amount of power when using ttl. When two AD200pro's, one in group A and the other in group B. Both in ttl. they give exactly the same power settings when converted to manuel values. In all situations. Have you same experience. Regards Lars.
@@kaskoPhoto I really hope so. Just want to confirm will it sync. I don’t have a Nikon transmitter and the Canon ones don’t sync even in legacy mode. Not even with a dumbifier (cold shoe to cold shoe).
This is my first time using trigger, why when I turn on my Godox x3, the screen/lens immediately turns bright as if you were using ISO 6400, it looks like a lens with a 4.5 aperture but boosted with ISO 8000-10000! I hope you understand what I mean, and if the Godox X3 is turned off then the lens returns with normal lighting is that normal? I just want the screen, exposure, speed as normal and to be able to judge how much light I will give to the photo object
It’s normal, but depending on your camera you can turn that off. Often when using flash you are underexposing the ambient light so you get only flash light. If the camera didn’t do this all you’d see is a black screen until you take the photo and fire the flash
That I cannot help with as I don’t use the app at all with Godox. With Profoto I use it because of their Connect remote - but that is as easy as turning it on and opening the app.
I have had a few misfires but much less than before. I think the best way to say this is - I’ll be using my Profoto for critical jobs and have this as a backup
@@kaskoPhoto exactly! i have two sets. one godox/flashpoint, and for all paid gigs (i do photography /video full time) its profoto all the way. it just doesn't fail as much (anywhere near as much) as Godox lol
@@jasonbodden8816 i really don't believe you. i've tried multiple triggers, with multiple brands of cameras, with mulitple settings, channels , etc. and yes, they do all fail. i don't believe for one second you don't get misfires meaning the flash goes from shooting correctly to a full powered flash, and also no flash firing, or fiiring underpowered , all without changes to the settings. i've had friends experience the same, some to more or a lesser extent than myself, but simply don't believe the "never" lol
The X-Pro triggers are still my go-to. I have 3 and love them to death. Not so sure I want this Nano yet mainly due to that knob being on the right side.
The more I use the Flashpoint Nano, the more impressed I am. They made the best trigger I’ve ever used. Period.
I made the same mistakes, until I read the directions and watches a couple of videos, duh!!! Now I know how to use it and I love it. Thanks John!
Thank you, I had not put mine to 0-30m, it was on 1-100m. And I couldn’t figure out why I had problem with it.

I don’t think so. I did see on some of their literature an L version but it has not been released yet
