  • Returning to the declining days of the P2020s, the retirement process would begin the day after filming this cab view from Long Beach to Los Angeles on P2020 158A. Cars 166 and 167 would be the first to be decommissioned. The video is inspired by the Interurban Film's video of the final cab view/ride of the Pacific Electric Railway from Los Angeles to Long Beach in late March 1961. While the events from back then seem similar to the P2020 retirement, I had an idea of implementing the intro onto this video for inspiration. Hope y'all enjoy this cab view as it would be the last ever full cab view on a Nippon Sharyo train.

This car is unique because of its 'Hybrid Horn'. I am thankful to have preserved this car's Electronic Horn Control Unit, and it is now being stored a spare part for LA Metro 144 at OERM.

I've always wondered about the horns on these trains - what manufacturer/model are they? Does metro program the sounds the e-horn uses, or do they ship with everything from the factory?

The horn control unit is a Railguard 8010SD and the speakers are a pair of Atlas Sound HPC-370GA's. These were shipped like that from the factory.

The operator hand gestures throughout the ride likes he's pissed at everything but theres nothing to be mad at the same time🧐

Some of the beginning ones was because the signals turned red as the train was approaching. I live in Downtown Long Beach and this is very irritating. Especially down Long Beach Blvd & Pacific Ave in the Loop...Trains need priority...especially since they tore up all the old track and systems before Covid, and the Signals DTLA & DTLB STILL don't have full train priority, even though it was approved and was supposed to be apart of the upgrades.

@@dfair I can see that being the case on this one. I was born and raised in Long Beach and been on many Blue line rides up and down Los Angeles and Long Beach, and most operators will still blow the (/) signal also seen as a "yellow" signal the line uses on street level grade. Maybe because this Nippon Sharyo P2020 is so old and at end of life the operator didn't want to risk an accident or damage to the train and he stopped at every (/) and couldn't keep schedule. You can clearly see the operator was not happy about something, probably because he was had to baby the old Nippon at end of life
