    Its a corporation. Its a world business. Only a moron lets a company affect their emotions. You can ride a Harley your whole life and NEVER step in a dealership. Buy used and find a local wrench or buy a service manual and start learning.

    I hate Harley Davidson motorcycles so much I purchased a 2022 Heritage end of September 2022.
    I’ve ridden double the distance on the Heritage for the time I’ve had it compared to my 2016 Kawasaki Versys 1000 that I purchased new summer of 2016.
    I hate the damn Harley so much that the Kawasaki only gets to sit unused at home now.

    Of course it is. First and foremost it is a lifestyle brand, and one associated with the boomer. As animosity toward that subset grows and their grasp of power and the dominant narrative fades - so too will the violent rejection of that which they so fervently evangelized. Harley, in their infinite impotence, has chosen to ignore subsequent generations almost entirely while simultaneously continuing to showcase tone deaf offerings like grossly overpriced $30-60,000 motorcycles. I have two Harley's and I wouldn't trade them in even if I could... First, I don't like the M8, second, if I traded in both, I'd still be $5-10,000 out of pocket for a bone stock current year - and my bikes are very nice examples of their kind. I ride Harley in spite of the brand, not because of it.

    • @streetsean
      @streetsean  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah the bikes are expensive, but I've been noticing guys my age (Gen X) and even a lot younger (30ish) that are on Harleys now. I was quite surprised when I started riding that I'd bring the bike in for service, and I was by far the oldest guy at the dealership. Anecdotal I know, but even when I went down to Daytona bike week, there was a big mix of riders, yes a lot of old, but a lot of younger harley riders.

    • @project.jericho
      @project.jericho 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@streetsean As I said, I ride the brand in spite of the brand, not because of it. Their motorcycles are simply better quality than most plastic alternatives... I can't speak for others, but it would follow. Harley has steadfastly refused to modernize and invested too heavily in the boomer mindset of boutique stores and part catalogues. Add to that the fact that the company has begun to create part shortages more aggressively than they used to with the explicit intention to drive new bike sales. They're a maladaptive company and will suffer accordingly.

    • @streetsean
      @streetsean  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes and no, when they do try to do something to move along, they don't sell and cost the company money (see Livewire). The dealers here all had charging stations 4 years ago...now they don't even have those...all because no one buys them. But yes, they do lean into what their current customers want and not what future customers want.

    Ride what you want, I dislike HD's business practices and some of the reliability issues I've seen over 26 years. I think they rip folks off. However, you choose to be a customer and if you do that's your choice if it goes bad. I don't knock folks who buy one, like I said, your choice. I have ridden their bikes professionally as a police officer for years but don't own one and probably never will. You do you,

      That's the best way to look at it. I like all bikes, but Harleys just suit my type of riding at the moment, but that doesn't mean they always will, though. I love my HD but I was a bit disappointed in the dealer I bought my bikes from and it supposedly was because the corporation wouldn't cover so they couldn't it but I was 3 days out of warranty and my tail lights / brake lights quit working and they wouldn't repair it for me. That was after buying two bikes from that dealership. Then they told me they didn't sell the connectors for the tail lights you had to buy the whole assembly at 250 dollars. I'm a auto mechanic so I had figured out the pins in the connecter weren't staying seated properly. I went to a different dealership near me and they sold the pins and connectors to me for 19 dollars. So i had to repair it myself which was fine but I did feel I could have been scammed had I not been mechanically inclined.

      That's the biggest thing I've heard against Harley is the dealerships. Each one seems to be run differently, I've been lucky that the ones around me have been good. When I bought my bike (used) and took it back for the second oil change, they said I needed a new front tire. The sales department actually covered it as it was only 4k km...I didn't even ask. Hopefully you can deal with the other one from now one, you'd think after buying 2 bikes they would bend over backwards for you.

      It seems that the biggest thing harley riders don't like is the dealerships. I'm lucky we have a few good ones around here but I tend to only use them for my oil changes for life and to look at parts.

I bought a BSA and later a Norton. Great bikes. Around 2005 I finally bought a new Sportster, then 2006 Road King, later a 2009 Street Glide and now I on a Road Glide. Yeah, I hate Harleys! No matter how many people hate Harley-Davidson most cruisers on the road that I see are Harley-Davidson. The reason why I don't like Harley-Davidson is because at my dealership they told me that the MSRP for the bike I was looking at was 13,000 but they will give it to me for $19,000 so needless to say I ride a 2023 Indian Scout rogue. Hating Harley is definitely a trend. It is all about clicks. There are a few TH-camrs that I follow that started like you did, making Harley videos while enjoying learning and riding. And like clockwork, you will see, "After 3 years, look what my Harley made me do." They will post a video, making sure to thank everyone for their support, begging, likes, subs, and the bell announcing that they have become a full-time TH-camr. The new videos will start with the mention of sunglasses or instant mushroom coffee sponsors. Then you will see why they think the BrandX is better than their Harley, and after a month or so of making videos riding BrandX to their store to "get milk," they give a touching monolog explaining why BrandX was better and the surge of subs because both Harley fans and Harley haters will join the engagement in the comments. In a couple months or so, our TH-camrs with their 25k giveaway video are all of a sudden going to Bike Week and talking about how they just love the Harley life. Using all of that new "BrandX was better" money to get a new Harley! Then they go back to making the same videos with the new Harley until the next trend comes around.
    Your second point Harley's trying to become a luxury brand is just crazy to me. Think about what a typical Harley rider looks like. In the past 5 years, that has honestly changed, with a few different subcultures spawning (dynabros, Viclas, Sport Baggers, EVO Guys, Adventurers, and CVO guys), with the exception of the latter. One of the issues is that Harley-Davidson is so popular with so many different riders that any bike they make has to almost fit various styles of riders to be popular. Blue-collar workers aren't looking for a luxury brand; new riders that are just starting out don't want luxury bikes. You see, only a "luxury brand" can charge huge markups and profit. That is what the shareholders are looking at.

    • @streetsean
      @streetsean  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You nailed the youtubers that I was mentioning to a tee!! I don't really have too much of an issue with it other than it doesn't seem genuine most of the time. And you're 💯 right that it works and brings up their engagement.
      I notice that my videos do better with just adding Harley in the title, and if there's a negative word...even higher. I don't really care as I'm just doing this for fun, and interacting with different people is pretty cool. Had a guy comment on a video from 2 years ago and was excited to tell him about my experience with insurance as he started riding later in life as well.
      I think Harley with their CVOs is kind of a luxury brand but they need to keep the other bikes the same. Harley has tried the beginner bikes but no one really ever wants those. I keep hoping for the Bronx but in reality, I'd never buy one.
