I graduated from ECU a LONG time ago and really miss Brunswick Stew. Parkers BBQ kept us college students alive for the 4 years we lived in Greenville. Thank you for this recipe and the memories☺.
Yay for Parkers!! In 1980s in Wilson, all the super cute guys worked there 😍! Great stew there, drove back to Wilson during covid git a bunch of 'cue and stew for the freezer ❤️🔥
Grew up in Eastern NC - Wayne & Lenoir Co. I didn't experience Brunswick Stew until eating at the Barbecue Lodge (now closed) on Hwy 70 outside of Kinston. For about 2 1/2 years I lived nearby and ate there about once a month. Your recipe seems to be pretty much the same as what I was introduced to. 🤤
So excited! This is my husband favorite. Found the enc saWce yesterday and the shoulder is cooking. We are in Florida and so deprived. Cannot wait. Could hardly sleep. Wait till i surprise him with this stew! Thanks so much!!!
Brunswick Stew at The Mallard Creek Presbyterian Annual BBQ in Charlotte NC was the fondest memory of my Dad, who took me every year since I was a little kid and helped when he could, even though he was a Baptist 😉. After 100 years of BBQ Brunswick Stew making, yours is pretty darn close 👍🏼👍🏼. Well done ♥️
I've made your Stew and it's amazing!!! I just made it again and added a 12 ounce can of Rotel original along with a 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika I love all of your videos
It’s amazing that even though I was raised by a family that cooked this stuff in a cauldron lol. You can seriously make it in a family crock pot of restaurant size cooker loved it thanks 🙏
The very best stew I ever eat in my life was what my Grandma made in her kitchen, hands down!!! She cooked the same recipe my Great-Great Grandma made for all our family...Lol. You know that you don't need a Lab to cook the best. Lol. All you need is Grandmas kitchen stove and the magic and Love from her hands...Lord how I miss all my Grandma's and my precious Mama and her cooking...God Bless them all...Now I'm a Great Grandma and cooking that same recipe and putting my own touches to it. We never used canned veggies, they're always fresh! Canned veggies is cheating n the lazy way! Georgia cooks it better hands down...Lol. 🙏💖🙏💖
You are right about Georgia being the best cooks, hands down. I taught my daughter to cook like I was taught by my mother. That young lady can get in the kitchen, & make a meal with hardly any thing at all, & let me tell you it is delicious, I'm 76 & she is 49, but she started watching me & learning at an early age. She has a sister, that if she had to çook, she would starve ( litterlyi).
Yep you got it right I'm from Salemburg NC. Just made it a few days ago! I did use my smoked pork. That was just my twist my mom and aunt just use the chicken and beef. Love your food and products. I have them in the pantry on the ready. Great job!!!
I have a cast iron Dutch oven and make this on a fire in the back yard. I don’t usually have smoked meat but use pork, chicken and beef which I will braise in broth. When the meat is falling apart will add my veggies. Onion, limas, corn, tomatoes and potatoes. Some bbq sauce or catsup and Wooster sauce. Cook for a couple hours.
I grew up on vegall! I voice type and it does not like odd words! I think it tastes better than Frozen mixed vegetables because there is onion in there and potatoes. I add corn and creamed corn. Yeah see Georgia doesn't use lima beans and I love lima beans so they're in my Brunswick stew! I also add onions and celery to my Brunswick stew. Sorry I have talked so much but I have no family and no close friends yet so I tend to talk quite a bit in the comments on TH-cam. I apologize. I had Brunswick stew somewhere that had an undertone of barbecue sauce and I love it! In the evening I can eat an entire quart of pickles and drink the brine. I don't think I'll have a problem with eastern North Carolina barbecue sauce.
As long as you have my three fave parts - green beans, chicken and pork.....oh it is truly Heaven on Earth and we know that God made North Carolina to hold all the best things on Earth
I’ve never made Brunswick Stew. It looks hard, but when I started doing it, it was really easy. I found a basic shortcut, thought. I don’t usually do a brisket or smoked chicken. BUT I found already pre made pulled pork in the store and am using that. Also, I have NO problem with butter beans. I have never had B Stew without them. I’ll let you know how it turns out. (OH I did have to go out and get a Dutch Oven-- I figure I’ll be using it for many other dishes, so why not). Oh, my wife says this is the best Brunswick Stew she has ever had (and she loves Brunswick Stew).
Great video! A little long, 27 minutes is kind of tough with my short attention span, but everything else is top notch. Keep the videos coming...just subscribed! :)
I have always tightened up my chili if it needed it with cornmeal or cornbread mix and it gives a delicious background flavor of corn!! It's delicious! :-)
real Brunswick stew comes from Brunswick county Virginia and you need to take a trip there when they have the annual Brunswick stew cook off to see how it's done.
Thanks for the video! I'm trying to get a Brunswick stew that looks like all the family reunions from.back in the day. This is probably the closest I've found look wise
North Carolina is the fastest growing state in the country. I live in Maine and I am disabled in an electric wheelchair and I'm looking to buy a manufactured home which used to be called a mobile home. I am plugged into quite a bit of services but I'm wondering because my pain level doesn't like the winter in Maine where I'm at if I should move to North Carolina. If anybody here can point me in the direction of some safe areas I would be very grateful! I have also shared this video and I love Brunswick stew so I want to try your version! :-) thank you for sharing!
I was looking for Brunswick stew and happened upon your comment and what the hell does what you had to say in any way about stew? North Carolina was never the fastest growing anything. This guy is drunk as shit for the entire video but his recipe was solid. If you are still looking for attention or meth NC is a great starting point. Hope you found whatever the crap you’re looking for 2 years later.
❤ I'm sorry ❤, Look into the Eastern side of NC. You can't go wrong with those coastal areas. Just live and search within your means and You would be a welcomed 💟 addition to our state!
Great video. Love watching videos like this because these west coast people I have to live around now just don’t understand. Eastern NC bbq is the greatest. However I must admit when you added beef and not pork I cried a bit before I passed out. Lol
Most authentic eastern NC brunswick stew will uses George's Original BBQ sauce, not "sawse". They're not as widely distributed but they're significantly less expensive.
Do you have a favorite brand of crushed tomatoes? A lot of them are fairly acidic/astringent. I presume you're not getting the good stuff. (The good stuff being from Bianco Dinapoli.) So... Cento? Or does it matter? I just figure that the more acidic the tomatoes, the more likely they need a little sugar to take the edge off. That is, unless you think the dish needs the acidity.
Haha, what kind of BS is this video? How hot could that pot be if he is straight up leaning on it with is hand @11:14? How about actually cooking something?

Couldn't agree more. I miss Parker's!
Parkers has been around for a long time and is still one of the best places to eat if not the best. Love the bread sticks with he Brunswick stew.
Yay for Parkers!! In 1980s in Wilson, all the super cute guys worked there 😍! Great stew there, drove back to Wilson during covid git a bunch of 'cue and stew for the freezer ❤️🔥
Parker's 💯
Limas are KING ingredient! Any kind of Lima beans! They are a must!❤

🤤
NC in the Eastern half of the state makes the best bbq. Grew up only an hour from the state line. Love their mop sauce. Make it all the time

I miss my grandmother's Brunswick Stew, she was from Goldsboro. Only thing I couldn't bear that was in it but I ate it anyway, was okra. Thank you!!!
She used to say butter beans, too!
Thank you for recipes without sugar to honor all the suffering diabetics
His Eastern NC BBQ sauce has both molasses and brown sugar in it... 😆

What a great recipe! Delicious! I must stop in on my next trip down to Wilmington!
Why? They're basically in Raleigh. If you're in Wilmington grab Brunswick Stew from Jackson's Big Oak Barbecue.
@@RictorIAG or Casey's. Both have delicious Brunswick Stew.
We love your brunswick stew and really everything we have eaten! Will have to try this at home.
Sounds great Except, gotta' start with onion !

I’m impressed with your knowledge . You can use a ketchup with out high fructose corn syrup. It’s Heinz simple ketchup
Great Video And Subject!
Great job!
Thank you for making this video. Keep them coming!!
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
I like the limas and sweet corn too
I'm headed to the kitchen right now to make this...looks delicious!!!!

Great job... Gonna make this in Bags Head!!!
Oh brisket be still my heart!
Enjoyed your BBQ last week. Interesting take on Brunswick Stew - I think your version tastes quite a bit like chili.
I have always tightened up my chili if it needed it with cornmeal or cornbread mix and it gives a delicious background flavor of corn!! It's delicious! :-)
Great job 👍 looks good 👍
That is very close to the way I made it thank you
Make me some good bbq sauce! I love Brunswick stew!!!
real Brunswick stew comes from Brunswick county Virginia and you need to take a trip there when they have the annual Brunswick stew cook off to see how it's done.
It would be nice to try the original...but one of the things I like about Brunswick stew is all the regional versions
Thanks for the video! I'm trying to get a Brunswick stew that looks like all the family reunions from.back in the day. This is probably the closest I've found look wise

You cant talk smack about people that put ketchup on things instead of your "Eastern NC BBQ sauce" when you straight up added ketchup to this stew! 😆
I love Brunswick Stew, but can you explain the difference in Brunswick Stew and Burgoo?
Very good stew
Make that CAROLINA CHILI👊🤤😋😃!!!
Is that green sauce the label is green hot? I have a geographic tongue so I can't do heat it's extremely painful.
Brunswick stew originated in Virginia, nuff said.
This looks really good!! Thank you!
Instant potatoes works the best to thicken up Brunswick stew
Mine turned out great!!! I didn’t deviate any from your recipe. Thanks
Great video. Love watching videos like this because these west coast people I have to live around now just don’t understand. Eastern NC bbq is the greatest. However I must admit when you added beef and not pork I cried a bit before I passed out. Lol
Great but what are amounts for each ingredient?
Oh… what about adding a bay leaf into the mix?
Great video ps is the bbq lab semi truck friendly?
They don’t grind their meat and vegetables together in Eastern Carolina?
Carolina Treat bbq sauce
Umm Brunswick stew came from Brunswick County VA not GA..

Do Southerners have no access to FRESH veggie's? I'm seeing this "go for the can" in other videos as well. Even frozen is better than canned.
lima beans are necessary to me
U say a cup of ketchup but after u dump it u say 16 ounces. 1 cup is 8 ounces I believe. I love ketchup so I like 16 ounces
Im not a fan of Induction stoves. Not even heating
Jesus get on with it
Cabbage onion and shoe peg white corn. Tomatoe paste no ketchup. No smoke flavor. To each his own. The oven? Nah!!
Lost me with the ketchup.
Haha, what kind of BS is this video? How hot could that pot be if he is straight up leaning on it with is hand @11:14? How about actually cooking something?
OR… Brunswick county NC
I'm sure it was good but after 3 and half minutes of talking no cooking you lost me......
Right?
