I hope it does, too. I really pulled out all the stops to be as thorough as I could. Ryu really is off doing her own thing these days, but I really do appreciate when creators are willing to speak with historians and the like, it can offer a lot of unique firsthand information.

As a ND person who is obsessed with birds, I _had_ to know more! This is the best resource I found that wasn't just the wiki outlines of their biology n stuff, which was a bit much for me right out the gate :]
yoo great vid! as a major Spore fan, im very surprised to find out that the species originated from there! I knew about the "Whom Gods Destroy" adventure for ages but never actually knew it had the Avali! Keep up the great work man :D
They visual overhaul for Starbound does separate them from first glance but you can definitely see the inspiration. What did you think about Whom Gods Destroy when/if you got the chance to play it back in the day?
VR Chat was what introduced me to the Avali. One of my friends was wearing a Tron themed reverse Avali avatar and I thought it looked pretty cool so I cloned off him. And then a few months later I decided to make my own avatar with the Da'vali base. When the Kita went free I upgraded my avatar to that base. And when the Jerry came out I switched to using that. So I have VR chat to blame for being a furry. lol
There was a Discord community called "Avali Homeworld" in 2020, which hosted Natval's (now goes by Natch) Natvali model and VRChat social events. Can't remember exactly what led to it but the server ended up merging with Lords of Floof.
Aw man, I was a huge fan of Whom Gods Destroy and the Iubati in general back in the day, really cool to see how far the species has come since then! As an aside, back in the Spore days I vaguely recall the lore being that "Iubati" was the technical name of the species and "Elysii" and "Avali" were the names of competing factions within the species -with the characters of Whom Gods Destroy belonging to the Elysii while the Avali were mysterious and largely unseen. I might have seen this somewhere on the now-defunct Sporum, or I might just be misremembering after all these years. In any case I imagine the canon has since moved on from that idea.
Kind of a glimpse into the future: I'm likely going to be running polls on Patreon (once I get things updated/reworked) based on ideas I have for each monthly history video. That'll be for the following month so the next video (April) is free game. If you have suggestions I'll happily hear them!
Yea my co founded species Quantian was heavily inspired by ryu’s avali lore and the kitavali though we (the other creator and myself) decided to make our group a parallel of the canon in which the canon exists in our species as a historical mechanic and the race are less advanced and even (mainly) lives in the planet Quantia in the solar system Ihodath our (again the other creator and myself) canonical creation for the species within the game no man’s sky. We do allow avali and other races to visit and you may even gain citizenship within the lore though we have a strict process. We also will enforce copyrights on our characters that we created so if you want to join in the project you may not create a quantian in any way without permission from us period

Love it i made my own avali 😊 bc my friend has a Avali, and now i also made one for a other friend of mine i even uploaded it today on my channel but this info was amazing bc im a Indoraptor person now im both raptor and space raptor, i played spore sinds 2008 so yeah they where so much fun im glad they grow this far 🎉

So let me get this straight: the Avali were a primitive tribal people until some higher race colonized their planet and educated them to their level, only to fall back into tribalism (but this time with guns and space travel!) once they gained independence? So basically the avali are space africans! (until we meet again! NEEEGHH!)

It's always a pleasure building character lore. I don't know how much of it will see the light of day, but there's enough lore about my own character(s) that me and a friend started writing a novel a while back and have managed to hit the 20,000 word mark- that and we're only like 5 chapters in.

Avali Triage has become a mandatory Mod for me in Starbound. Every once in a whole I jump back in for some fluffy space raptor exploration.
