I appreciate that you mentioned how sensitive beaks are, filled with nerves and blood. I've seen a few videos of trimming that don't mention it at all.
I think it’s really important to be aware of. They are strong and hard, but sensitive. Yes, people should definitely know so that they can be kind and gentle with a Parrot! Thanks for posting!
I did a trim by myself first time ever. I did just do a little bit on the tip. I used a dremmel and it was good. I imagine that to buff I could use my battery fingernail tool. That should work fine for polishing don't you think?

Did you do the trim by yourself? It always takes 2 of us to do any of my birds. They act like we’re trying to murder them. They try to bite and they scream. The girl I take them to is quick and gentle. When the towel is removed they calm down and she gives them a treat. She exudes a calmness that the birds pick up. I appreciate this video. But I’m still anxious about doing a trim. Perhaps I need a shot of Tink’s? 😂❤️
I can do their nails by myself- not the Mac’s tho. Beak, I can but prefer help. The smaller guys never need their beaks done, but they would be easier to do. Yes, we’ll, a short of something!
BTW what about giving them medication? I recently had to give my Golden 10 dates of antibiotics because of a tummy issue and she just was not happy when we had to force feed her. She is now hesitant to come to us! It takes a lot of coaxing! Today is the last day of the meds so we’re going to spoil her afterwards. Any advice on medication?
I had to give Aurabello shots! 😱 that’s pretty much how it made me feel, like the emoji! He adjusted in a couple of days. I think he knew that it was helping him, even though it didn’t cure him. I know it may sound silly, but I would really try talking to her and explaining why you’re giving the meds and make sure you feel it as you explain it. They are far more perceptive than we realize. I’ve certainly had to give meds to different birds at different times and it’s just never been an issue. I think the birds feel sorry for me! I always feel so bad- lol!
My avian vet trimmed the lower mandible of my sun conure, he took it all off and now my boy can't eat. He is 14 yrs old and just holds his mouth open. He can't even hold water to drink, it just runs out of his mouth before he can get his head back. When I asked the vet why he took it off that far, he said I thought that's what you wanted. I told him I could do everything except the bottom mandible. I was then told by him that actually it didn't even need to be trimmed at all. Now my bird can't eat. This is day 7 and I'm sad for him. I took him and he did this and he's in pain. Giving him cooked spaghetti noodles and applesauce. Now he doesn't even want that. I hear it can take weeks to months for it to grow back. I wish I'd never taken him to the vet at all. Any idea what I might try to feed him that's soft and not full of sugar, fat and salt? I really appreciated your video and I agree with you that they don't really need to be trimmed if they have the proper grooming toys. I'm just sick the vet did this to him. He's in pain!
I’m so sorry! This would upset me terribly too. Scrambled eggs- super good for them and should be easy to eat. No salt, a touch of coconut oil if you need it in the pan.
I think yr bluffing every one.,with yr lip service. Very conveniently yr camera went off.its clear you Have never done this before so please stop giving false advice.

Aww - Alé was so cuddly in this vid! Has he gotten more cuddly?
I think he has gotten more cuddly - since he doesn’t have a mate, he relies on me. Not my favorite set-up :(

I don’t know what the battery fingernail tool is- but congrats on trimming for the first time!

No not for me! I’ll take them to the Vet for that!
It’s good to know what works for you- doing it ourselves is faster and easier- especially with elephant-parrots!
@@ParrotBliss I totally get why you do it! With so many birds it would practically and financially impractical!
@@floridamadman59 yeah… the little guys don’t need grooming. The ones with TALONS-
If the video didn’t record, why did you even posted? Waste of time. If you’re gonna show somebody had to do some, show him how to do it.
Apologies. I do my best. I understand if you don't want to subscribe/watch my channel.
I don't think parrot beaks supposed to be trimmed.
I agree, but some parrot's beaks get long in captivity.

Off camera? This was a demonstration with a toy. If you don't believe me, then if you have a bird, take them to the gromer. :)
