My grandma and grandpa lived there. My mom was born there too. In 1929, they emigrated to Sweden and then moved to Canada. I still have a map of the village dated 1929 that shows where everyone lived and two books about the village.

Ha thats impressive. I guess we are spread out over the world. Personally i have no tighs to Ukraine but my ḿother is Polish and my Father is Swedish. I speak Swedish and basic to none Polish but i feel with the Ukranians today because of the war and the living is pretty much the same. Also the hate against Russia seems to be mutual, in Poland the Russians is more hated then the Nazis because Soviet took advantage of Poland until 1990.

I am SO saddened about what's going on in Ukraine. In 1929 some 800 of the villagers emigrated to Sweden. After several months, about 250 chose to return to their old village for a number of reasons. I think the Swedish Government/Church should, when it is safe, send a boat to resettle them into a rural area of Sweden. After the end of the war, my grandmother’s family was repressed to Siberia (great-grandmother, grandmother and her brother and sister). My great-grandfather stayed to live in Europe. My grandmother said that their family spoke German and Swedish. It's so strange to see a place where my grandmother's family could have continued to live peacefully if the Nazis had not come to their house, and if they had not been repressed to Siberia...
Det är väldigt speciellt att höra "gammal" rikssvenska isolerat i en by i Ukraina. Deras svenska är närmare finlandssvenska än dagens moderna rikssvenska till uttalet, verkligen en unik situation. Det skulle vara väldigt intressant att besöka byn och träffa människorna där, men på grund av det världspolitiska läget är det inte en så bra idé.
