The fact that porn and intimacy are both regarded as similar is worrying. Not only is the porn industry designed purely for lust and not love it is also really quite violent the sex on porn sites is not out of love or their desire to be intimate its about making money and making normal people hate their body and feel like they have to live up to pornstars. It's really really unhealthy. I was addicted to porn for a while and it is just a short term pass of time to try and feel good as an empty feeling person. An empty person is a broken person to think it's not is pride messing with you. It is no different than any addiction if you can't live without it you are broken and suffering.

My biggest struggle with Christian "liberalism" is that quite often they view the world as fixable. We know the world is broken and full of sin. Individual people can be saved from that sin, but the world is still inherently filled with evil. We are in the world, but not of the world.

He needs to be humble. He's had guidance and he rejected it. We can't force God onto someone. God will not force Himself. If He speaks and you don't listen, He stops speaking. When his relationship doesn't work out, or he loses his job or whatever else goes on in his life that God allows to bring him to himself, he will go to God. But he needs to be humble first and sometimes God allows things to go on in your life that will humiliate you in order to teach you humility. (Look at Samson)

So many people struggle with one thing, CONTROL. They don't want to let go and allow God to lead their lives. They want to hang onto what they think they can do. "I can try harder today, I can have a support group to help me get through this, if I just have a little I can control myself". People think they are fine with being in control when the truth is them not allowing God control is allowing Satan control. WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO MAKE OURSELVES RIGHTEOUS. It is so freeing to just accept God for what He did for us, knowing that we don't have to work for His approval. He loves us as we are. And by accepting His Holy Spirit, He daily changes us into what He knows us to be, His child, His son and daughter, holy, righteous, and saved.

    • @craig4002
      @craig4002 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

The crazy thing is that we forget that we have pretty much no control over anything and I think that sometimes scares people. Our circumstances, the weather, inflation rates, our friends and families, we can't control these things. Even ourselves: I don't always think the thoughts I want or should, I don't always feel the way I want(how we feel changes every second and moment), and I don't always say the right things. So I have no control over things outside of myself, and even in regards to my own body I don't have absolute or even any decent control over it:/....
But the cool thing is that when God's Holy Spirit is a part of your lifestyle, suddenly you're thinking about things in a different light, you're speaking words that aren't your own, even ministering to others. The lows of life don't feel so low cause now there's someone who's calling out for you to get up again. You find yourself experiencing things you've never felt before, things that don't make sense to this world. When I experience His presence I'm crying like a baby but I'm feeling like I'm on top of the world!!!
And when your actions don't match with what your heart knows is right and true, it hurts and you feel convicted to live a better life. The world is eager to numb pain and force pleasure but God just wants us to be and feel alive, wholly and truly alive.

    • @ColorMeSunshine
      @ColorMeSunshine 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

@@craig4002 You're right, we don't have control over anything, but we have control on what we believe! We shouldn't fear what happens in life because we know with all God promises us that He has our back. We could be starving on the street, but He is with us. We do not need control over anything because God is in control. And we must remember that feelings are NOT LORD. Satan knows how to manipulate our feelings and situations to make us think or act a certain way, but we know who God says we are and those feelings are a lie! That is why it is so important that we posture our hearts every morning in prayer of thankfulness to God for giving us life, grace, and His Spirit. Thanking Him for making us new and His child. We need to meditate on His promises to us so we can remember who we are. Jesus in the wilderness was starving and weak, suffering unimaginable torment. Satan knew how to play Jesus' feelings, but what did Jesus do? Fought back with the only thing that was true, not how he felt, but THE WORD of truth. ;)

I disagree I think how it works is we accept that God has a plan and he will set us on a path that fits his plan. But we have to walk the path. We have free will, we arent puppets. God points us in the right direction and we have to do the work ourselves. He inspires us and blesses us with knowledge and strength but we have to walk the path ourselves.

I suppose you missed the point of my original comment. I said that being a Christian is acknowledging your sin and realizing we can't fix our problem, even if we tried. So it's great that God took care of our sin, He took the punishment, so we don't have to experience it. This is about how we cannot fix our sin problem, and are damned to hell justly; yet God took the punishment He didn't deserve, and justified and sanctified us.
With that being said, I don't sit back and do nothing, refuse to work, etc. I do work, in fact I'm supposed to work as a Christian, especially since laziness is sinful (Col 3:23-24, Phil 2:14-15, Ps 128:2, Ps 90:17, Prv 19:15). We do have responsibility for what we do.
As for the Jews in the Holocaust though; like I said, we do have responsibility and free will. God cannot do or create evil things, He creates people and gives them free will; to which we decide whether or not we want to accomplish great things, like mother Teresa, or accomplish vile things, like Hitler or Ted Bundy.
Bad things happen, not because God isn't good or isn't real or isn't faithful, but because sin is real and has an influence on people (some, like Hitler, choose to let it completely take control of them) as we are all corrupted by it; which is exactly why we need God.
Jesus isn't a luxury, something you don't really need but is nice to have; He is a necessity. But just because Jesus is with you doesn't mean bad things won't happen to you, because people still have free will. And if God stopped every stupid or vile decision we ever made, we wouldn't have free will.
But think about this, God stopped World War 3. He stopped World War 4. He stopped Hitler from killing more people. He stopped the Trail of Tears from carrying on. He stopped Collonel Custer from raping and murdering more Indigenous women. Etc. Etc.
As people, we like to push off responsibility- as you said- we like to push off accountability and say every stupid decision was because God didn't intervene when we wanted Him to.
I hope that made sense :P

I think the guys implication as well that if you attain a "monogamous sexual relationship" that your pornography addiction will just vanish away is ridiculous. There are MANY MANY people out their in those relationships and even married with an active sexual life with their spouses who still have addictions to watching pornography every day. He can't exactly apply his anecdotal experience define literally all pornography addictions because falling behind the excuse of "needing intimacy" just isn't going to cut it.

Does deconstruction always have to be negative? Sometimes deconstruction can help affirm why Christians believe what they believe. To me I questioned my faith in college. I learned that as much as we fight for justice, there always is injustice. Why is that. Humans we have a fallen nature. No matter how much good we do, we have areas of moral failure. Why is intimacy always synomous with sex. To me sex and intimacy are too different things. Sex workers have lots of sex but no intimacy. A married couple ( one of them is extremely sick) may not have sex, but if they love each other they have good intimacy.

Him being addicted to porn and being told that it is just his sinful nature and go pray about it. Na that doesn't fix it. Him saying now that he has a girlfriend he finally has his needs met............what if you didn't have a girlfriend then bro? Are you really going to put your self-worth into someone else being there to fulfill a need you yourself do not even understand?
If you do not know WHO YOU ARE in Christ, then yeah, even if you believe and pray you will still fall. Romans chapter 7 says who we are before we accepted God and His Holy Spirit into us. We fall even if we don't want to, we try and try and fail constantly. But Paul says in Romans chapter 6 "How can we who died to sin still live in it? Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life." By accepting Christ we accept that our old sinful person dies and is reborn in Christ. He gives us a new heart when we accept Him and His Spirit! Romans chapter 8 "Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus, because of the Spirit's law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. All those led by God's Spirit are God's sons."
And you know this doesn't mean we will not be perfectly sinless, Christ will be our advocate, and the righteous man may fall 7 times, but he will still get back up Proverbs 24:16. You are God's child! You are forgiven! You are made new! Your old life is gone! Accept your identity and believe that is who you are! As they say, if you believe it, you'll achieve it.

If I “wasn’t a Christian”, no one the fuck alive today is. That is such a false argument. I was just tired of constantly feeling like a horrible person every waking moment over something small that I did or suicidal over big things. Just left the “less than” mentality

Without Jesus, I'm a horrible person! Before Jesus I was angry, bitter, full of resentment. I was planning the murder of my own mother. My heart is wicked. I feel like the modern day Mary Magdalene (which is ironically where my name comes from; It comes from putting Mary and Magdalene together). I feel like before Jesus, my heart was possessed by evil (I wasn't literally possessed, but I believe Satan had a hold on me), and then Jesus freed me from it's hold. Now I am beyond grateful for His love and mercy!! No one has to convince me that I was broken. No one has to convince me that I needed Jesus! And I guess I'm lucky that I was so wicked because I couldn't deceive myself into thinking I was a good person and didn't need Jesus. I know I deserve Hell!! But praise God I'm forgiven!!!! And no one will EVER convince me that Jesus isn't real because I have seen the changes He has made in me!! I will praise His name with my dying breath!!! Praise be to God!!!!!

I am far from perfect myself, but the truth is, that he is really missing the point: that we need Jesus. We all fall short of the glory of God. Even the most faithful among us cannot make it by their own strength. If we could, then Jesus' crucifixion would have been of nul effect.
I believe that's what the religious leaders of Jesus' time felt about themselves; and the saducees and pharisees; yes, they might have followed the law to the letter, but they had a prideful heart; they failed to realise their need for Jesus. In fact, they didn't even recognise Him.
Me? I need Jesus. And I'm glad I do; because even if I could make it by my own strength, I still would be nowhere near as strong as Jesus. It's weird, in a way, we don't just need Jesus, we need to need Him. If that makes sense? 🤔

One thing I'll touch on here- the "if you leave the faith you weren't a Christian in the first place" narrative is incredibly dissociated from the very real relationship that person had with faith. It's easy to brush people off as never having "truly believed" but that's not a helpful assertion and it's riddled with assumptions. That prescriptive phrase isn't helpful and it channels self-granted omniscience. We don't know someone's experience with God and telling them what it was is divorced from reality. We can do better than that. That ideology isn't central to the core message so floating it out there isn't constructive.

I know the power of pornography it’s deceptive and evil. But my experience with it has given me the answer to fight against it. 1.it’s fake, I can argue that it’s another form of finding your sexuality but my conclusion is that true love is not in porn.
    2. Pride, my flesh wants what I can’t have until marriage that’s the fact and only Christ can fill that void if we surrender ourselves too Him.
My response to those who are into porn just cast your troubles to Jesus. He can help you as He did for me so don’t give up the fight. Porn only kills love because it’s just an imitation of the real thing and we all deserve “true” love and we can find it in Jesus.

Hi, I appreciate your thought content on these issues. One point I would like to make is drawing a distinction between "brokenness" and our "sin nature." I heard another TH-camr talk about how evangelism is taught from a self help perspective of God and how this can be harmful to evangelizing some people. This creates a problem where people who would be considered well adjusted since that they grew up in a happy home without God can't see their need for a savior. They think that Jesus is only for "broken people" yet their are people who are truly broken in the since of having ad trauma in their lives and are now using coping mechanism to deal with their problems (i.e. sex, drugs, etc). One person can use drugs because they are trying to to deal with a past pain and others might use it simply because it feels good to their sinful flesh. I think it's important to draw separation with this so they aren't treated they are interchangeable. We all have a sin nature that without God will send us to hell but we aren't experiencing brokenness to a true degree that we can recognize the need for a savior.

Coming to terms with one's innate brokenness and corruption is a pretty huge checkpoint of maturity for all people in my opinion, whether it relates to Christianity or not. Having the courage to confront your brokenness unflinchingly without retreating to defensive self-soothing or indulgent self-flagellation is huge huge hugely important - I consider it a sort of "rite of passage" into a full sense of humanity, and it's definitely the only way to experience true empathy.
If it was just a case of unmet needs, why are the richest among us whose needs are abundantly filled are often the ones who are the most abusive, power-hungry, corrupt, and straight-up evil...? And are you able to recognize yourself in those people, in that fundamental bottomless hunger we all share?
In my experience, though, these are the q's you only start to ask yourself when you fail HUGELY and your whole life blows up in your hands like a grenade you pulled the pin on and forgot to throw. Until you've been there, until you've come to the end of yourself, it's just not something you can understand - seems to me like some of these people haven't been there yet. It's coming though, life spares no one 😅🤣

I am new to the term deconstruction, I can only say I was also a man that was born in the church and left during college years because I thought I don’t need Jesus or God. But reading my Bible today God told me to come to this video and type this chapter from the Bible. I felt just like those hit me when I read my Bible, he was talking to me and many ex Christian’s that leave the faith. I am testimony that not even the church will save you, Jesus saves ! So repent and go back to Jesus like I did! My life is amazing knowing the truth of the Bible. Let me type from my Bible I have a simplified translation but true to the original scriptures, READ Luke chapter 15 read the whole chapter it’s short I’ll type it here
Luke 15 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”
So he told them this parable: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the minty-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home he calls his friends and his neighbors, and saying to them ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.’ Just so I tell you they will be more joy heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous persons who need no repentance.
“Or what women, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it ? And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin for which I have lost.’ Just so I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over on sinner who repents.”
And he said, “There was a man who had two sons; and the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that falls to me.’ And he divided his living between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took his journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in loose living. And when he had spent everything, a great famine arose in that country, and he began to be in want. So he went and joined himself with one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into the fields to feed swine. And he would gladly have fed on the pods that the swine ate; and no one gave him anything. But when he came to himself he said, ‘How many of my fathers hired servants have bread enough and to spare, but I perish here with hunger ! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “ Father I have sinned against Heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me as one of your hired servants.” And he arose and came to his father. But while he was yet at a distance, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to the servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet; and bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and make merry; for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to make merry.
“Now his elder son was in the field; and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. And he called one of the servants and asked what this meant. And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has received him safe and sound.’ But he was angry and refused to go in. But his father came out and entreated him, but he answered his father, ‘Behold, these many years I have served you, and I have never disobeyed your command, yet you have never given me a young goat to celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you killed for him the fatted calf!’ And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to make merry and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive, he was lost, and is found.’”
So this my friends that are leaving Jesus, are lost like the lost son. I too was once that son I left and found nothing good without God the father and without Jesus, but when I started coming back to Jesus he welcomed me with open arms and celebrated my arrival just like the father in the parable. God meets us running before we even get to him, we are his lost sheep and are celebrated when we come back. God loves everyone of us and when we repent of our sins and come back to Jesus he will have the best for us and will know that truth that he came and died so that we can be in heaven with him and the father. I was lost and now I’m found, I know there will be more like me, God bless you and I will not be like the other brother, I will recognize I was with the father for a while now and I too will celebrate when the lost brother or sister comes back to Jesus for I was also in the same situation, if anyone ever needs help with the Bible reply to me here, God bless 🙏

Deconstructionism has taken over the world at large. It’s horrible. One of the worst practices that came from the sixties free movement (more mid to late century). Aside from the sexual revolution, deconstructionism has been one of the most destructive forces. Destroying our view of absolute truth and birthing generations of narcissists who believe their feelings and thoughts are more important than authors and creators. That truth is anything we believe it to be. A great example of this push/pull is the show Northern Exposure. Dr. Joel Flieshman is an absolute truth guy. Chris Stevens is the deconstructionist hippie. There are some interesting episodes that present the dichotomy between the two systems of thought.

Aaaah this actually makes me so happy because I went to bible college and have now explored these questions I’ve had. What I’d say to my past self is that people do leave the church because they don’t like the Jesus the bible presents. Not all the time but in many circumstances. Since God defines love anything God does is loving. Ex. If God created people knowing they suffer eternal punishment would be loving since our definition of love is not the same as God’s. After all it says “7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. “ (1 John 4:7-8). It’s a passage telling us that if we know God we will love like Him, and that regardless of our feelings the God always has been and will always be love. And love is not gonna feel good all the time.
Jesus’s sacrifice doesn’t atone for all sins since that’s what God has decided. We don’t know why, but we are too respect the decision of our creator on why Jesus’s atonement wouldn’t extend to everyone. We also don’t know how God will reach people who’ve never heard the gospel. God could probably use visions and dreams but sharing the gospel is so important. God’s spirit I believe is really accessible and everyone. Regardless of who you are. We don’t know why God created us, or if He really would be better or worse without us. But I think He’s better with us since He’s created many people to show His glory and many to show His wrath. I don’t actually know if we have free will, but I do feel more in control of my decisions. So I’d say yes but free will isn’t a super clear biblical concept.

I was hoping I could give sth as an answer to that but it seems that the hardest questions are those concerning the nature of God Himself. However the parable of the wheat and the weed did come to mind when I read your question, albeit not knowing how exactly that explains the situation. As a Christian I think that God is so nuanced. Sometimes I battle over there questions as well which again is arguably the hardest type of question faced by believers and non believers alike but I would think this way, if God is indeed wise beyond human understanding as seen in all creation and is therefore much superior compared to us and have thought of all the arguments we can possibly think of regarding His works and decisions then there must really be something superior behind all that He established and planned. And that is actually what Faith means, to acknowledge and honor Him as the Most High and believe even if all our human ideas are clashing against what He has established.

I love your videos! They solidify for me all the reasons why I left the Church in the first place. When you get spiritual geniuses like yourself who (either willfully or otherwise) choose to not view brothers and sisters leaving the Church with empathy and understanding, but instead choose to use the tired old rhetoric of “yeah, but, what about the Bible?”, it’s no surprise why your numbers dwindle. And how much you push your Patreon and other cash grabs… just like Jesus did, right? 😂😅😬

Theology means what humans know about God. To say that you don’t need god theology is basically saying it’s okay to accept a misunderstanding of God. To speak about love is an aspect of theology, to talk about quality is to ultimately come down to theology.
    From God are all things.

God made the problem it’s fitting he has to solve, I agree murder, all kinds of assault, theft is wrong but making monogamous relationships, gay relationships to me shows how egotistical he is. I like “Oh I want you to be the way I want to be.” But he’s like “no I don’t want you for who you are in terms of your consenting relationship, I want a clone of me.”

KJV 1 Corinthians 10:13. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

He just wants to watch porn without feeling guilty anymore. I don’t know this person myself, but I doubt having a girlfriend stops him from watching porn. This guy, and many others like him, chose porn over Jesus. A big shame. I did the same thing until I was born again. Haven’t watched porn since. Never will again either. I don’t want Gods eye upon me enjoying satans work.

I think people are mistaking theology for legalism. Theology is the law that the God says we must do and is absolutely crucial in a believers life. Legalism is the law that men say we must follow and hold no value in the eyes of God.

If you leave the faith because you're told you are broken, your problem is with your pride. We're not called to bring people into a club. We're called to bring those who are humble enough to hear the truth and accept the truth to the truth. That's what we should do. Not everyone will accept the truth. We shouldn't chase after everyone who leaves the faith because they are chasing after their own wants and desires and never truly were part of the faith. But God is working within them and will bring them to Him if they are humble.

People don’t want to be offended in any way. Of course, they have no problem with offending anyone who doesn’t agree with them. We are all sinners and a great many people are offended because they don’t believe that they have ever sinned.

I can appreciate the sense of honesty the former "christians" have.... at least you can minister to them without the lense that they believe in God... if that makes sense.
