Hate it when they call it "hair metal" degrading the actual music. I got news for you. ANYTHING from the 80's sounds better than anything the radio has put out over the past 25 years. This music had Heart and soul, with lyrics that actually meant something. Put aside the long hair and flashy costumes. The music was still ACTUAL MUSIC. Not like the senseless crap they call music today. And i'm very very thankful i grew up in the 80's. OH and for the record.
Jani was extremely underrated and not celebrated as a true musician. He could play numerous instruments as well a sing like a bad ass🎸 His early departure from us was devastating. He was amazing.
He played drums in clubs when he was a little kid Piano guitar drums and his voice…and he could write a great song Cherry pie was a last minute addition that he hated Ironically it was their biggest hit
@@DannyRedCheeksStevie Nicks wrote Dreams in 15 minutes sitting on her bed.. Just goes to show you. Never know when the creative moment will come!!..
It seems crazy to me that Warrant were well known for Cherry Pie (which is a great song in itself) but you have to search for an absolute gem like this...
It's all about timing. They had just released their 1st album in 1989. Sadly, not long after that, Grunge and alternative took over (Thanks to the industry). Same thing can be said about Skid Row, Firehouse and a bunch of other great 80s bands.
To think they were relentlessly made fun of in the 90’s and on. They were huge talent and wrote some really good songs. No bands today can hold a candle. JL could sing and write.
I never got to see them live, but this proves just how great they were. Outstanding musicians and Jani was an incredible song writer, singer, and performer. It is so sad he couldn't be at peace within himself. I wish he could have known how many of us loved him. RIP
True Pro’s. It’s rarely done like this anymore. I saw warrant in SD at a small club in I believe 1993. After Seattle scene dropped. The PA crapped out. Jani proceeded to play covers of Queen and other bands with just a mic and piano. We drank outta the same Cuervo bottle. No shit story. Maybe the best show I’ve ever seen. 100 peeps there max. So talented.
Jani was a special person. And this band kicked the fuck out of anybody in their prime. I know there's others that could actually sing live, (looking at you Sebastian, Coverdale, and the young version of Vince Neil) , but Jani was different. He helped me out a lot back in the day, and I'm still alive because of that help. But nobody, and I mean nobody, out-performed these guys. Period
These guys were my life at 15 years old. Even though they never got the recognition of being bigger than ever. But they were big for me and alot of other teens in the late 80s. I'm 49 years old and I and my wife still rocking them today. Warrant can stand up to any band my opinion
It amazes me that these guys weren't bigger than they were! Jani was such an awesome frontman and vocalist, and he and the band were SO underrated! I was in a "hair metal" band back in the late 80's called Tempest, and we opened for Warrant at Gazzarri's on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, just before they got their record deal! Really nice guys, and I remember Jani being such a kook! GREAT sense of humor and just a blast to be around!
wow, this guy really can sing and this is a good tune. I really believe him when he says he hates the fact he wrote Cherry Pie. This guy has a great voice and the lead guitars are hot
I was lucky enough to see these guys open up for Kingdom Come at the Paulo Soleri outdoor amphitheater in Santa Fe back in 1989. They were awesome. A full moon was rising during their performance. It was killer! Jani Lane was the bomb.

Warrant showed up just a little too late to the genre or they would be remembered as one of the best of the 80s hair metal bands. They had a hell of a lot to offer. Even DRFSR was a masterpiece of an album.
The best Warrant song. And, it's not even close. This is an all time classic. The rest of their songs might as well be a local club band. A full album of this and Warrant would be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

I just watched Warrant try to do this song with another singer ( I don't know his name). No one will ever be able to do it like Janie. You can tell he put his heart and soul in his music. That is why no one will ever be able to sing his songs the way he did. R.I.P. JANIE LANE
