The reason the dragon didn’t perch for 3 minutes is because the dragon knows that it will make the summoning salt vid more entertaining if illumina nearly gets wr before he actually gets wr

Sizzler using the side of a village house to get oak planks out of inventory in his WR run impressed me more, but I think only because it was the first time I'd seen it from anyone.

I watched the whole video just as a casual commentary by illumina, only at the end I realised this is absolutely huge regardless of the bad perch, because this run didn't even have divine travel and that insane of a portal! Illumine is simply insane
Anyone who thinks RSG is just a luckfest should look at the fact that Illumina and Sizzler frequently remind us they're the greatest of all time.

I know right? Swimming and boating all the way to that shipwreck would have added minutes unless he got lucky by also having an immediate magma ravine, which he couldn't know.
Tbh imo the most impressive thing about this run is the soul sand valley fortress first no fire res no shield. That's hard af to survive, and he only got hit once, many runners would just die there
tbf he got kinda lucky with not too many wither skeleton spawns but he also did a good job avoiding the blaze fireballs
tbh the bastion too, 2 hits there and he's dead
@@edgreen9024 I’m not saying that it isn’t impressive, but it’s not hard at all to not get hit there especially with a gold helmet and decent piglin location rng. I can do bottom manhunt without getting hit too, unless I get unlucky with where the piglins are, and I’ve spent like 2 hours practicing this route ever, have a laggy af computer and don’t take speedrunning seriously at all, I just think it’s fun.
Doing soul sand valley fortress first no shield no fire res and none of the safe block placement strats at a spawner, is very impressive and a lot of runners would just die there
I clenched so hard at the crazy jump into the fortress at 3:47 that I fully forgot to even appreciate the biome's influence.

Looking back after cycle strats its crazy this had potential to be the first sub 10 and by a decent margin

He had enough arrows to halfbow. He explained in his own commentary that not doing it was a deliberate choice to go for high-roll. The sad thing is that even if he didn't get high roll he still had good odds of sub-2 end for a sub-10 run, and that didn't happen either.

The change regarding pausing and pause abuse was only implemented recently. The current World Record had a lot of pause abuse which is the only reason that it's even WR and the first and only Sub 10 ever. If there wasn't as much pausing, the current WR would be a 10:XX so the point still stands. This recent change has only benefitted Brentilda (The current WR holder) since now no one else can use the tactic of pause abusing that he did to achieve his record. Plus, the speedrun moderators and verifiers have kept Brentilda's original IGT (In-Game Time) despite the recent rules regarding pauses. Illumina was about to destroy that WR WITHOUT PAUSE ABUSING (unlike the current WR) if the dragon had perched faster. This run had the potential to be the first ever Sub 9 WR with a high 8:XX time most likely. Illumina would have effectively had killed the category with the run if everything had worked out since his pace would have become practically impossible to beat. His dragon was absurdly slow and around 2 minutes worse than average perching times which really sucks for him since this was the fastest End Enter ever and definitely on course to becoming an almost guaranteed certified WR. Although, despite all this, I'm still proud of him for producing this run nonetheless. Well done, Illumina! And I hope you now understand why Illumina achieving this PB with the current restrictions is absolutely astounding!
Brentilda is by no means a bad runner. remember that a sub 11 was never done with everyone pause abusing at the time, let alone a sub 10. the sub 10 was really ahead of its time. Still, congrats to illumina!

Bed explosions make fire that you can walk into if you don't complete the one-cycle and need to use an axe.
