The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) was the first anime movie that I ever watched when I was 12 (I’m 23 now), and before it got swiped off of YT I used to watch it at least once a year. It’s truly one of my favorite movies and I’m so glad to see someone make content about it 😭
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) is one of my favorites and I really like the surrounding renditions of the book. Thanks so much for this. Great video. I subscribed.
I used to watch anime episodes, labeled part 1 or 2, or even part 16, way back before they were taken down. I also remember watching this film, and although I didn't like it as much, I still remember it to this day. Didn't know it had other adaptations similar to the Girl who Leapt Through Time. Nice video. Hope to see you grow because you really put a lot of effort.
I just watched the movie not long ago want to see some other people opinion about it so I clicked in this video, I think you're analysing is spotless, and I really hope your video get more notice.❤
Great video, I already knew about the other adaptations but it was fun to see all the info explained in one video. Also the the main leads from the 2010 drama got married and have a son.
This honestly is an amazing video analysis, I didn’t even realize the 2006 movie sequels the books/1983 movie (although, I only just watched the 2006 version today so~)! All in all, all that you said really resonated with my current thoughts. A lot of the current media I’ve been consuming has been time related, it’s no surprise I watched a Girl Who Leapt Through Time after I read Shigeru Takao’s 2005 manga, “Golden Days” (another time traveling manga, MC travels back to 1920s Japan). You’ve definitely got me hooked, so I’ll be looking more at your videos! Kudos! KUDOS!
I really loved the 2006 one. The film really captured the vibes of that year im aware of the novel before and knew that aunt witch was the original one. I showed this film to a lot of people. And glad that they liked it too.😊
It definitely captures the mid 2000’s feeling very well, so much so that it made sense to include my own experiences from that era in this video. That’s so cool you knew about the backstory beforehand! In some ways, I wish I discovered Kazuko’s story earlier but it was fun finding it during the research. Thanks for your comment!
@@zuttoshow I just finished this film I have no problem with the message of the film but I need explanations on some parts of the film that I don't quite understand Firstly, where does Chiaki come from? in the ending he says he will wait for Makoto in the future, how long is that? Imagine where Chiaki has a time machine Why would Chiaki go back to the past, just for a painting? what is the meaning of the painting? Why can Aunt Makoto easily believe everything Makoto says ? Can you help me bro to explain ?? and I don't like it a bit, when chiaki is a twist. so he really is someone from the future huh.. I prefer a little magical spice, like "Mirai". a mysterious garden or park or an unknown world is colliding haha.. actually, I just finished all of Mamoru Hosoda's films. and he really is still the same person, hasn't changed at all until now. except for his experimental work as an episode director in an anime TV series, I forget the title and miss too understand. How chiaki know his friend kousuke use bike makoto ? And he know makoto bike the brakes are broken. even though he was not there at the incident. how does he know? a film with a good message, but it's a little difficult to understand each scene

@@AbahDirgaLv997 the universe is quite vague but they make the implications quite clear and complicated at the same time 1.Presumably Chiaki came from the era 1000 years later and when he said he will wait for makoto we will never know how he will wait. Is it 30 years into the future? or is it about the painting the makoto tried to save for him? it's quite vague we can only assume lol 2.He went back to the past with the time machine to see what happened because in this era he told makoto that there's no baseball and had never seen a running river before. 3.Makoto's aunt name is Yoshiyama Kazuko which is the main character of the first "girl who leapt through time" in 1983. This anime film is basically a sequel. (PS Yoshiyama Kazuko also has another cousin "Akari Yoshiyama" that appears to be in the 2010 live action movie of the adaptation too, so that explains why she's so nonchalant about the time leaping thing. 4.About how chiaki knows that his friend use makoto's bike. I'm pretty sure the director intentionally make this pretty vague and broad (that's why 90% of ppl who watched dis went on reddit to ask wtf happened actually) ,but he said i came back because when kousuke died theres one person who's crying and blaming herself (He's talking about makoto) It's still confusing though. I don't even know how Mamoru hosoda is not confused when he's directing this lmao. I'm sorry i couldnt grasp about the time thingy
Everybody only knows about this story because of the bad adaptation of Mamoru Hosoda...and is so unfair than almost nobody remember the 1983 version of master Nobuhiko Obayashi. Is a poetic, dark, delicate and lovely sci-fi melodrama, and was a total hit on the era
I'm an unapologetic fan of the Hosoda version lol but I was surprised at how good Obayashi's adaptation was. It pretty much became the impetus for this video and made me want to take a look at the series as a whole!

If I remember correctly, the mc of one of the 90s versions is played by Maya Uchida, idol that inspired Tamaki from Persona series.
I didn’t know that! I feel like everyone now and then I’ll find out a new thing that’s been influenced by TGWLTT and its stars

Pa-papapapaaaayaapaaa....
Its incredibly expensive to purchase both 1983 and 2010 movies in English ntsc and near impossible to find the tv series and adaptations on dvd.
It’s sadly true that they’re hard to find but thankfully the 2010 movie is on Tubi for free!
Where can I stream the 2006 and 2010 movies (legally)?
Crunchyroll for 2006 and Tubi for 2010!
