An interesting point about President Kennedy’s Oval Office: the drab carpet and curtains shown here dated back to the Truman administration. While President Kennedy and Jackie were away for the trip to Dallas, Jackie had ordered new red carpeting to be installed, along with new white curtains with red trim. Sadly, President Kennedy would never live to see the remodeled Oval Office.

Jackie did a wonderful job in restoring the White House. The children’s sreas are nicely done but very much lived in and giveca feeling of comfort.

Such iconic historical pictures because it’s the Kennedy White House. And their personal rooms, where they lived their daily lives, look just like they stepped out for a bit. They showed every room on the 3 floors that were used.
And in JBK’s dressing room, you can see the beautiful painted doors on her freestanding closet-representing all the important events in her life until now. And it shows the rarely seen Residence with their personal effects. This was soooo awesome and took me back in time. Thank you 🙏 David 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Mrs Kennedy did an amzing job restoring the WH. Noone could have made every room as lovely as she did. Loved seeing their private rooms never seen before. Have the public rooms been redone are left the way Mrs Kennedy decorated them sixty years ago?

This is amazing. Although given JBK's desire for absolute privacy I doubt she'd be happy knowing people are looking at her bedroom even though it's 60 years later & doesn't matter now :). It's a fascinating and mesmerizing look at history.

The historic paintings and furnishings are old as are the outer limestone walls. The internal structure was only a few years old in 1963 due to extensive renovations between '48 and '52 where the entire inside of the WH were removed and some was reused, some was sold as souvenirs and most carted off to Fort Myers Va. (it is believed).

On Mrs. Kennedy's vanity, the perfume she used to wear during her time in the white house was Arpege by Lanvin as you can see the round glass bottle with the gold stopper, and on the back is a big bottle of Balmain Jolie Madame parfum that looked like it was new because it looked unopened.

The very first room you see is Mrs. Kennedy‘s bedroom. The corner room with the angled fireplace starting about 2:00 is the dressing room, which is on the southwest corner of the second floor looking down towards the Rose Garden and west wing. The presidents bedroom is actually the living room adjoining the master bedroom which is seen starting about 6:50. Interesting that presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, all slept separately using that room as their bedroom while the first lady slept in the master bedroom you see at the beginning of the film. However most presidential couples have shared the master bedroom together and since the Fords in 1974 all presidents and first ladies have shared the master bedroom together and used the other room as a living room.

As you can tell from this video, Mrs. Kennedy’s bed was two twin beds pushed together. One of these twin beds was for President Kennedy, fitted with a special mattress for his bad back.

I love it. The only thing that bothers me is that the pictures hanging on the wall are so OBVIOUSLY crooked. Espcially at 1:13. And there is no symmetry there. Why not either take that top one down or put another on on the side of the same size? Things like that make it look "homemade" and you would never guess that some fancy French designer was involved. I find it hard to believe Jackie saw those pictures hanging like that and was okay with it.

@@DavidVonPeinJFK David. You have some utterly stunning material on your site. It's a marvelous achievement, well done. JFK, and the whole 60s era is a fascinating era of modern US history with JFK fascinating millions despite the many floors and negative aspects of his character. As for his death, what are your thoughts? I feel his murder was the result of a toxic murder inc' collaboration of the CIA working with mobsters to covertly remove Castro. RFK may have felt some guilt due to his heavy involvement in this venture that resulted in the weapons being turned on the one person (or 2 peopel) the mob and elements if intelligence hated more than Castro, the Kennedys with similar finger prints relating to MLK and RFK just several short years later. Thanka again for your trully remarkable acheivment. I think JFK may have purposely shyed away from photographs inside SAM 2600 as there is only 1 picture I can find of him in it. Thanks again. Garry
