I am VERY impressed on how she taught the skill, covered the recipe, discussed the history, and explored the cross techniques between other cooking regions and bases. It doesn't matter what she cooked. It was a great presentation. Thanks Munchies.
Simone is a dear and gave me some of her time to talk about her delicious innovative cooking when I was at Little Tong Noodle Shop. I will definitely be trying out this version of Dan Dan noodles, and will be going back to her restaurant the next time I'm in New York City. Don't miss her $1 dumplings special!
Was just there 2 months ago. She is 100% correct but the pollution is sooooo bad that it's not worth staying more than 3 days! I was coughing incessantly and major post nasal drip 💧
Whoever is curating this series of munchies is absolutely killing it on curating their talent. I absolutely love her, but I feel like I’ve said that about your hosts often lately! Loving the content!
This looks so good! I loved the advice about the noodle cooking time- play 2 songs. This will come in handy for my oldest daughter who is autistic and enjoys cooking but sometimes has poor time management skills but we always have music on though!
OMG YES!!! MY wifes boyfriend makes dan dan noodles but he hasn't given me any in sooooo long. very glad i found this so i can make them myself, hopefully I can use the car in January to go to trader joes to get the ingredients. thank you munchies!!
@@yemoe3188 Yup. She did mention that she's born in Sichuan but possibly moved to Singapore during her formative years. There is a toss of her Sichuan accent layered with a Singaporean one.
More than likely that I will not cook this, not because it doesn't look amazing, but because I've never cooked with 90% of these ingredients. I'm a simple kind of gal!! But I'll eat it in a heart beat. Someone, please cook this for me!
I really wonder, why the written recipes are often so different from the cooking in the video. In the written recipe it says, ginger & garlic is first to add to the pork, Shaoxing is the last to add. Here in the video she adds Shaoxing at first, ginger & garlic in the end. Probably the difference is not that important, but yet confusing.. 🥴😅
Young lady, outstanding recipe, i have to scratch the peanuts, can't eat them. One other thing, if you can find pork cheeks, it has the most flavor on the hog/pig, since you went to UNC you may have tried them, just have your butcher grind a lb. or buy them whole & do it yourself( usually less expensive that way) they are the best cut on the hog/pig in my opinion. Trust me

"sometimes smaller peanuts give you different sensation than bigger peanuts..." I laughed
More Simone Tong! Great job hosting!
Simone is fun. Additional content with her when possible.
Is... that a question ?
@@bradenrodriguez5183 The use of a period denotes the comments are statements in themselves. Not a question, rather a clear, but gentle request.
Someone says this on literally all of their instructional videos
"OMG, CHEF, LET ME WORK FOR YOU!"
No.
"Alright. LET ME WORK FOR YOU FOR FREE"
Yes.
I will work for food!
This is real. See a goal and go get it
I am so in love with this woman. Her take on how and when to deviate from traditional recipes melted my heart.
Oh my gosh I can watch her all day. She explains things so well.
she is obviously very skilled and knowledgeable about the food, the best chefs to watch. have her on more!
Must AGREE!
“Or you can play two songs”

She must've spent her formative years here in Singapore. Big part of her accent is still singlishy. Love it
“Respect the tradition but also put my own sexiness to it”
She knows how to deal with the tradition thingy. Mad respect
a history lesson and an awesome recipe! thank you!

Really enjoyed this chef Simone Tong style and explanation of everything. Very calm, strong and some laughs. Thank you for the recipe!
"you can set a timer or play two songs" awesome time management
Just tried this recipe.... Amazing flavors. I used miso and couldn't find the mustard tips, but still very delicious. Will be making it again.

Your wife's boyfriend?... Pls explain
Hold up🤔
Maybe if you do a good enough job, he’ll buy you a new Nintendo switch game
You know, there's a time and place to brag about your sexual endeavors, but I really doubt this noodle video is that.
Good Pohlice excuse me? I didn’t want to do this but you left me know choice, I have 10 foot iphone charging cords in every room in my house
Love this version of Dan Dan recipe! Kudos to the chef :)
You can spot the Singaporean accent even if she's been in New York for a while.
Yu cen see the oiu is sizzwing
Dan Dan Noodle belongs to Sichuanese Cuisine. She is likely to be from Chengdu.

anonymous Yeah, you are right I guess.
@@yemoe3188 She literally said she's from Chengdu.
made these the other week, including the pickled celery and mustard seeds. Phenomenally good
Very Fresh Noodles(NYC) has the best Dan Dan noodles
I love Dan Dan noodles!! She's an awesome chef! more videos with her!!

Super Fantastic Video!
I want Dan-Dan noodles.
I've been wanting to make this dish for so long!
great personality
If food is good, life is good. I felt that!!
Sometimes smaller peanuts give you different sensation than bigger peanuts. So size does matter?
0:09 Thank you so much for the accurate reference! Yes, the noun for such bamboo pole is “dan 擔 (子)”.
You are so well spoken
Man I want some dan dan mian now
SAME!!
2:03 “My approach to cocaine” who else heard that at first 😂👍🏼

David D that sounds about right
I made it this way today, and it tasted so good!! I had no idea that zha cai could be used this way.
I WAS LOOKING FOR DAN DAN NOODLE RECIPES YESTERDAY
THANK YOU VICE. THANK YOU SIMONE.

Love the shoutout to NC!
I’m new to this channel! And loving these recipes!
I just love her! 2020 goal, make more Chinese food at home.
Nice video😃
Laoganma chili crisp is amazing.
Did she said two songs later? Man that's dope 😎🔥 that's how you know, she knows what she's doing...
Love all Sichuan dishes 😎👏🏼
The first Chinese person I've seen admit chilies weren't indigenous to Asia, she rules
TheGrouchDnD that is a historical fact. What kinds of Chinese u ever come across?
Does anyone know what the ingredient is in Szechuan cooking that has the tingling, numbing effect?
Joe T It’s the Szechuan/Sichuan Peppercorn.
That food looks AMAZIG!
Love her! More Simone asap
good video
*Dan has entered the chat*
There’s so many different types of rice noodles out there. I always have trouble figuring out which one to use.
Super cool that you were willing to work for free to make your dream come true!
She is great
sometimes smaller peanuts give you different sensations than bigger peanuts. well said
Yes ..some like it 🔥..sweet
Love 🐷 Gahori...Need to try this recipe.

Sauce is supposed to go at the bottom of the bowl and absolutely must consist of homemade chili oil!
With the ground pork as a topping
Please have her come and film an episode on authentic fuqi feipian, there are so many places butchering my favourite sichuan dish =(
She's cool. More of her pls.
This woman is cool
I BADLY wanna make this
But a couple of those ingredients seem difficult to procure.
Idk where u live but if in southern usa you can get all ingredients at Kroger or hmart
Chili is initially from South America, interesting, I like that.
Bring her in for more. She’s funny as hell
Love this making next week 😘
Play two songs... love it.
I binged “how to make dan dan noodles” at 5am and then munchies releases a vid...
Penis
Wow they actually released a video
Hi.
What blue pan you are using?
It looks great
1:11 nice subtitle there.
OMG I love her
Nice to see a fellow Tar Heel!
I see a bandage on the left index finger. And no glove. Thats where that extra kick of flavor comes from.
And right index finger
It’s frustrating when onE can’t find the unique ingredients, I’m wondering if there is a sub for the Yacai?
She should be president. Simone Tong 2020
Can you make dan dan with ground Turkey or Beef?
Loved the vid, never expected this dish to come on here lol
