Ansel Adams DID do "photoshop" in the darkroom. He took his best picture before there was such a thing as a graphical user interface, much less a "home computer".
He could do more with a box covered with cloth; a piece of glass on the end, and a stop watch... than the best living photographers could do with the best digital camera, photoshop, and a week.
I have a ruleto make a photoThere should be one of 2 criteria, of why to take a photogragh The subject should be Alive or Rare. anythingnot fitting in this categoryfew if any pics should be taken of it. (I am thinking mountainshere.) Besides the beauty or interest a photo conveys it also helps us rememberand gives a since of history. Mountainsfail miserably on all 4 of these criteria. After allyou can not remember what never goes away.
Than look at portrait and macro-photography and don't ask question about others style... Don't look at f/64, or nature photography, or street photography, or forensic photography, or documentation photography, or HDR, or glamour, or playboy for that matter (that's erotic photography)... Hum, maybe you failed to get something important here : but you are not the only one ;)
Ansel Adams realy help me. Thanks
The Master
Ansel Adams, photographic genius
he was amaizing. thank you Ansel Adams. RIP....
i can't believe no one has commented on this great photographer...he is the truth!
amazing stuff! thanks for this!
The most amazing photographers see the photo first and simply use the technology to enhance what they've already captured.
Awesome!
newsandviews - There are always 2 people involved in any photograph; the photographer and the viewer... even when the camera is pointed at a 'rock'.
And to think this would one day lead Roy to ESPN.
This is REAL photography. All these guys w/ their digital cams and OVER photoshopped stuff all look the same.
You're right. That Cloth covered box is still king.

Please don't move the photograph. Let it speak for itself without moving it around.
The Father of Photography.. :)
I cant take Roy Firestone seriously. But yeah Ansel made photography popular!
Ansel Adams, I will one day be like you. Many have tried to imitate you, but none have been successful, until me.

@newsandviews2009 you clearly have never heard of mountain top mining
@ossme I wouldn't say Father, but the greatest prophet?- Yes!
Most commercial photographers now are photoshop expert. They say that Ansel Adams photoshop was the dark room..BULLSHIT!!!!
What an ignorant comment
