For all those whose Project64 gives an error:
Go to settings -> Config: SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY 64 and set the RDRAM to 8MB
I think they mean a rom specififc config if p64 has it.

This is always the case. At least with Project 64 (I don't use any others) you need to set the RAM to 8MB. This simulates the presence of an Expansion Pak. The emulator will crash the first time, but with the RAM set to 8MB, it shouldn't on subsequent goes. Kaze's hacks are simply too beefy for 4MB. I collect them.

@@poudink5791 Why not? A lot of modded games work via flashed N64 cartridges - it's not like this is a PC game; it should run fine on original N64 hardware.
@@tobytomkinson7081 no, he means this isn't actually compatible on anything but emulators, people have tried on flsh carts, doesn't boot.
Kaze would probably have fixed it when v1.2 comes out
most N64 romhacking communities indeed make primarily console compatible hacks, but not the SM64 community. for the longest time, little to no SM64 romhacks ran on console. they only worked on emulators. console compatible hacks have in recent years become a lot more common thanks to many discoveries and the release of SM64 Rom Manager, but they're still not even the majority of hacks being released due to many hackers either not owning an everdrive to test on console, not wanting to limit themselves to what a real N64 could handle, or both.
as far as this hack is concerned, kaze can't fix it, or at least not without a very large amount of work. the level models for this hack go in the tens of thousands of triangles. the N64 struggles with 5k triangle custom stages. he or biobak (the one who made the models for this hack) would have to tremendously simplify the stage models for this to run at a playable speed.
@@tobytomkinson7081 This def would not work on a legit n64. it's almost certainly not signed properly, besides the fact it clearly uses more horsepower.

Mario 64 still plays perfectly fine, no need for a remake. A lot of the charm is in how it looks as an early polygonal game

Well to be honest Kaze and Biobak actually just used the odyssey levels as an inspiration for design in these reimagined ones, but that isn't to say that isn't much. In fact, this is the first rom hack in sm64 history that has 9 stars per level.
All your content is really cool, and really well made! I have always wanted to see people turn something old and give it some major detail! I like the passion you give towards your projects, and I can't wait to see what you do in the future!

@Gabriel Klenner Because the patch file contains their copyrighted content. Regardless of whether it contains SM64, it does contain a full remake of Odyssey
@@DarkLink1996. It doesn't, it patches the ROM to turn into it. It's a technical difference that to my knowledge legitimately changes the laws surrounding this.
@@Thornskade Everything not in the original SM64 has to be on that patch. If it just changed some values or added completely unique content, yeah it's not under the scope. But the patch itself contains recreations of Nintendo copyrighted content.
Nintendo has full grounds if they decide to take the patch itself down. It's shitty, but it's true

Tested it on my Everdrive 64 X7, garbles the video output. Works on Mupen64 though. Looks like a damn good ROM hack, just wish I could play it on the N64 and CRT.
@beemer226 bummer. only Mario 64 hack i know of that was made for that hardware is Star Road, and playing it was a pretty blah experience. i need a list of all the kaze hacks that i could use the Everdrive for

Edit: at the time I commented this, there are 64 dislikes.
One of the things that will really make this mod shine in the next revision is if the team scales the camera for the different hat captures. Mario on his own is a phenom, but the capture mechanic is what gave that entry that level of dynamism. Super ambitious

Stopping Emulation!
Go to Options->Settings and uncheck "Hide advanced settings". Then right click the rom in your library and click "Edit Game Settings". Then switch Memory Size from 4MB to 8MB.

The SM64 engine can't make realistic people, but Kaze would make cartoonish people... However, its a big kingdom and probably it would run slow.
