They are everywhere on Macedonian pages, you tube, social networks, etc. When they hear and see something related to Macedonians and Macedonia, they can't sleep because of happiness, right away they write that they are Macedonians too, but in a slightly different way they like to be Macedonians so they say you are Greeks you are Bulgarians 😄 they have supported us since the 1913 Treaty of Bucharest until today. The documentary misses some points, what it calls turks are islamised slavs of bulgarian origin like the majority of the country population that is not albanian. The most appropriate and ethically correct name for the country is slavalbania. the country was created by tito in 1945 to make ethnically bulgarians and albanians to "forget" that they are ethically bulgarians and albanians. Macedonia is a Greek region and Macedonians are one of the Greek tribes, North Macedonia is a georgaphic term, not an ethic one. There is no country called Macedonia to travel to. There is only North Macedonia, and Greece with a Region called Macedonia. and its historical capital Thesaloniki, founded in 315 BCE!
Before the international 2018 Prespes Agreement North Macedonia was called by UN as FYROM [Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia], as it was formerly a confederal republic within Yugoslavia, practically a Region within it, founded in 1944 by Tito, with the express claim to include the Greek region of Macedonia, a part of the Greek State, ie a claim of territorial expansion.
That's why when Yugoslav 'Macedonia' asked UN to be recognised as a new independent state of Macedonia, Greece protested and vetoed its recognition by this name, which meant clearly a territorial claim over Greek Macedonia. Not a matter of interpretation, it was stated in its Constituion!
After 30 yrs of stale dispute, finally in 2018, under 2 moderate social democratic governmets, there was a compromise that would resolve the state name matter, and allow fully recognised membership as North Macedonia in UN, NATO, and eventually European Union.
Therefore, those in North Macedonia, like your friend Lide, who insist in calling North Macedonia simply Macedonia, exploiting the ignorance of the wider world, possibly including yourself, of the above serious state dispute, are diehard nationalist fanatics [VMR party] who do not recognise the above agreed compromise, and insist on claiming a big chunk of Greek territory!
By the practice of sytematically propagandising to the wide world in TH-cam the identification of North Macedonia with Macedonia as a whole, they exploit the fact that there is not a state called South Macedonia, as Macedonia is a Region in Greece, it has no distict international profile. They just hope some day an opportunity will arise to annex Greek Macedonia, inhabited solely by Greeks, by necessity with the aid of some external Power, such as Turkey, and they want ignorant world opinion to be ready to welcome this annexation.

But eventually the name of Macedonian was reserved for its slavic inhabitants, who previously had no ethic name and were claimed by Bulgaria as Bulgarians, as all other ethnicities, Greeks, Vlachs, Albanians, already had their own distinct names.
In the 2 Balkan wars of 1912-13 most European lands of the Ottoman Empire were taken away to become Albania, and the rest to be split between Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, and Greece. Slavs, aided by Communist Comintern interwar policies propagating an Independent Macedonia-Thrace, as a multiethnic entity, that by now was integrated into various nation-states, adopted a claim to all ''Macedonia'', exploiting as a given fact that they only claimed to be Macedonians as all other ethicities had their own distinct ethnic names already!
Thus through a series of misnomers and misconceptions a monopolistic Slavic claim was established over a broad formerly Ottoman territory popularly called by the historical Greek name of Macedonia, which however was actually limited to the by now Greek region of Macedonia!
Thus it came to create the 'Macedonian Disneyland' in Skopje, full of statues of mostly Greek historical Figures, like Alexander the Great, in a propagandistic 'post-modern' attempt to usurp Greek history and claim Greek Maceonia as part of a single Slavic Macedonia!
Conclusion: Please, call North Macedonia always and only by its internationally recognised name, and never as simply Macedonia, which implies a territorial claim over Greek Macedonia, and thus renews and prolongs the above explained dispute! The name of the country is NORTH MACEDONIA similarly to SOUTH AFRICA. Nobody calls South Africa just AFRICA. It is meaningless similarly to calling the country NORTH MACEDONIA just Macedonia.

What? It makes no sense. The name of your country is NORTH MACEDONIA. This is what it says on your passport. This is what it says on any map. The name Macedonia is reserved for a region of Greece. South Africans never call themselves "Africans". They have no problem accepting the name SOUTH AFRICA for their country. Get a life bro! What you call north Macedonia and Aegean (central) Macedonia was one country before. We live in 2024 and have Google. Just make a Google search and you will find old maps of Macedonia. It's not more difficult than that. And the region in Greece you are calling Macedonia is actually called Aegean Macedonia or central Macedonia, not just Macedonia.
