    Given the right conditions, algae can double its volume overnight. Microalgae are the earth’s most productive plants -- 10 to 15 times more prolific in biomass than the fastest growing land plant exploited for biofuel production. CCRES ALGAE TEAM

      Go for something cheaper than this fancy hall they use.
      Look for a greenhouse style building or even just glass roofed boxes. You will need to clean the glass surfaces regularly to enable the maximum light to get inside, and any dust is a problem (look at solar electricity).
      You'll need a big plant to be economical, and a bigger plant to get cheap.

    This is good but OPEC can always undercut this. Alternate fuels and alternate powered vehicles such as electric vehicles need to have their costs equal to or lower than the cost of conventional vehicles or fuel. The price of conventional energy such as oil has to get high and stay high. OPEC recently undercut domestic shale oil.

      Follow the money (campaign donations to politicians).

    • @farmerjoesrants
      @farmerjoesrants 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      This does not get funding because if you devalue petroleum, you devalue the dollar. The only reason a currency functions is because it is scarce and in demand. If fuel is no longer scarce or in demand, and produced locally according to each community's needs, then we would be facing dollar collapse, and a likely subsequent collapse of the worldwide economy, and en eventual return to something like the gold standard or transition to bitcoin. Petrolium is not just what we buy with currency - it is part of the price of every single consumer good on the planet. If suddenly fuel is not expensive, the whole power structure collapses. The means of production cannot be given to the people because if the people have the means to produce what they need for themselves, then they won't pay rich people for the things they need to survive.
