This is the best Octopus video ever! Back in my day (the dark ages of the 1970's) we called this a "Double Octopus" because there were two cars at the end of each tentacle. Somehow everything that goes into having the perfect Octopus ride is in this video. That is all. Thank you for the post.
There are simply two variants of the ride. Eyerly is the most famous make of these types of rides. Generally the single tub on each arm is referred to as the "Octopus" and the variant with two tubs on each arm was called the "Monster". Later on the Monster was changed to have 6 instead of 8 arms, but has four tubs on each arm. The arms were now arced and curve downward. This variant also has a version with only 2 tubs on each arm and is called the "Spider". Confusing, huh?
i have ridden this version of the octopus before, they call it the 16 tub octopus they used to b popular back in the day but now u don't ever see them.Carney's say they are a bitch to set up so that may b why u don't see them at the fairs and carnivals..there might be two of these travelling with a carnival.

Our version i think has longer arms than this on the video. Hehe it only comes to our town once a year during fiesta.
Our english versions only have one car per arm, yet the americans one has 2 per arm wonder why their different.
that's the original octopus ride(one car per arm) the other one is the eyerly spider variation octopus ride
