@@katong1953 It seems like Yellen and Powell are tired of keeping a straight face,
while they instruct Senators that the Economy is in very Good Shape.
No matter how many Semiconducting Mineral Sammich you create,

The USA exported infrastructure for 50 years that was tired from producing profits,

Well said. Every time I get in a discussion with people over China, I tell them China didn't "steal" our innovation, or manufacturing, or work ethic. Its the opposite, we just handed it to them for the cheap labor. People unfamiliar with "making things" don't understand. You can't ask someone else to make your stuff, unless you tell them, in detail, your innovation and plans for that "thing". Everything at the store is made in China, yet our politicians, who have no ability to make anything, now call China "the enemy". Even much of our pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical chemicals come from China. We'd better not make them mad, otherwise we will have to learn to go without just about everything that makes our lives modern and good.

most of it is innovation by the east too. remember cheap and substandard products in the 90s? it is unavoidable for a manufacturer to be bad until they learn enough to be good. ironically, thats what holding back america right now, unwilling to do risks and look bad thats a flaw, once get over the perception of failure, it will burst into life as a modern day rivendell. right now its just stagnating.

Dulan Ratigam wrpte a book some years agp describing how the Federal Reserve governors got together and decided to ship jobs out of the country in order ro destroy labor movements. This all came together probably in the late 1970s and it worked. Labor has been weakiened. Wage earners have seen no significant increase in wages for the past 40 years. We have shifted to a gig and part time work force many of whom have no health insurance, no retirement plan and no other benefits like vacations. Meanwhile, as everyone knows, massive amounts of wealth have accrued to the top .01% of participants in the economy. I didn'tcall them earners because they are essentially looters who concoct more ways to gouge money from stressed workers like increasing the cost of housing and medicines and even essential household items. Thjere is a reason why many of the people you see living under the bridge are also workers.

Greed spread through boardrooms and in our Federal Government and regulatory agencies became a way to get rich by working for those you were supposed to be regulating. The bloated officer corps of the US military is the worst in this regard. Our military sucks so hard, it’s a crime.

While they themselves walk away scott free, never held accountable for sending said jobs overseas. Essentially, selling the American people out, and making a killing in the process, hand over fist, year over year. And you know what, it is working, the average American are falling for this blame game. It is nowhere more evident than during the upcoming US election campaign; they've already jumped on this false narrative. The US will inevitably fall, and it only has itself to blame because it fails to see this and change its ways and chart a completely different course.

Considering the number of those who continue to enjoy some profits from Capital,
when faced with a faceful of hooves,
      predators do move along.
The concept of Democracy while popularly accepted,

I live in South East Asia. So long as the US don't drop bombs in my country, my people and I are happy without the US in anything at all. The US imposition of high tariffs on Chinese goods is simply admissions that the US cannot compete. I am sorry for the US people that they have to pay twice the price for the same Chinese goods we get in SEA. Don't they think it is time for them to get rid of politicians who thought they can rule the country the easy way out: collecting custom duties and printing money. Any fool can do that. You need big fools like Donald Trump to think imposing tariffs and printing money is being very smart.

The USA is following the same path as Europe; big government, high taxes, and over regulation. The big difference is that Europe has massive social welfare programs, while the USA has massive military budgets. In both regions, economic growth is declining while government debt continues to grow. Both the USA and Europe can become competitive again but even if the decision was made to do so, it would likely take one or two generations to achieve that.
The USA needs to drastically reduce military spending, reduce the size of government, lower taxes, and most importantly, overhaul its education system, and eliminate useless and burdensome regulation.
