damn. i think im going to have to buy wires for my genesis again i didnt know there were such good shooters for it im going to grab this one too for sure
I always upset when i'm aiming for the homing rockets, but since i messed up with the timing, took the other one instead, then in unpredictable moves a plane shot me dead....
Is there a trick you use to line up in the right spot to point-blank the capsule portion of the special stage boss? Whenever I try it he aims upwards. Really impressive job, I can't beat the special stage even with savestates. I can't imagine how much time and frustration someone would need to beat that stage on real hardware back when this game was released (if they even intended for anyone to beat it at all).
You have to be basically exactly on the spot where the back (not the flames coming out, but the red part) of your ship is right on the red dot of the capsule. Its very specific, probably one 1 or 2 pixels to work with.
+BuyMeThingsNow Thanks! The worst part is really just that it takes 45 minutes just to get to that point, and 1 simple mistake and it is all over. I got lucky in a few spots at the midboss and the final boss where I narrowly avoided bullets almost by accident.
The Genesis port is good and all, even with the graphical and difficulty downfalls, I still think the Jaguar version is best by a long shot due to be being more player-friendly (and the music being much better imo anyway) and the nice new redrawn graphics
@@datquietkid5397you're very welcome, but if you want a more fair and welcomed challenge then Super Raiden on the P.C Engine CD is an excellent way to jump to that as it included new 2 final stages
Is it? Because the music sounds awful, the colors looked all washed out. Looks noticeably worse than the arcade version. I'd say both are relatively close in how terrible they are.
Nothing pissed me off more as a kid as finally having an opening to get the floating power up only to have it change colors the frame before I collected and changed to the laser.

Amazing work as usual, pegboy!
And I love this port.
:)
I like this port too.
Great job, never thought anyone would be skilled enough to beat that final Special Stage on real hardware!
You make it all look so easy. And the video quality is exceptional.
Great job pilot !
This special stage means hell !

+Jay Rorabeck There are a ton of good shoot em ups on the Genesis, only issue is they are starting to get expensive.

@@PEG Knowing that it's amazing you went for this strategy after going through the entire game and only getting one shot.

Thanks for the info. I'm a beginner to shmups. I mean proper Japanese shmups.

I wish they had this version on switch
I liked it but this version is eh water down but it's much better than the snes version.(there is also a pc engine version of raiden)
The best way to still play Raiden 1 in the home is the PS1 version, which is a spectacular version.

Yes exclusive in the game
