Jallianwala Bagh Amritsar (जलियांवाला बाग) is a historical place which is known for an incident of British rule on India. What is the truth behind this Jallianwala Bagh existence. All these details are described in this video by Funtech Guide. As you might be knowing that Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar which is a district in Punjab state of India. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which is also known as the Amritsar massacre or Jallianwala Hatya Kaand in Hindi Laguage, took place on 13 April 1919 when troops of the British Indian Army led and under the command of Colonel Reginald Dyer blindly fired bullets on to a crowd of Indians who was gathered in Jallianwala Bagh Amritsar. Why Jallianwala Bagh massacre happened?
On those days people of India were boycotting the Rolt Act which was forced by British Government. The Indian public was assembled at Jallianwala Bagh to condemn the arrest and deportation of two national leaders, Satya Pal and Saifuddin Kitchlew. It was Sunday, 13 April 1919, the day of Baisakhi, the main Sikh festival in Punjab, and many civilians were gathered in the Jallianwala Bagh. Dyer went with Sikh, Gurkha, Baluchi, Rajput troops from 2-9th Gurkhas, the 54th Sikhs and the 59th Sind Rifles and ordered them to shoot at the crowd. Dyer continued the firing for about ten minutes, until the ammunition supply was almost exhausted. Almost all the civilians were killed which were innocent. And this massacre will always be remembered till ages.
