I agree completely with you 👍🏾🙌🏾 I grew up listening to Donna Summer when every Dance floor was Donna Summer. After following her and having bought every record she’s released I always compare every singer with her and there was something in Donna’s voice resonance that no one measures up to. The best female voice ever. Whatever she sang the cry of that voice spoke to my Soul. Take good care The70sGal 🙏🏾❤️
@@dan74695 Even Whitney who emerged 10 years after Donna Summer admired Donna and knew that Donna was the pioneer. Her sound was Ground-breaking. Mary J Blige said Donna was a ‘Game-Changer’!! 💎💎💎👑👑👑💫❤️🙏🏾
Mimi was a cute little girl. She looklikes her father a lot tough. It's so beautiful to have a song made for you. A love letter from a mother to her precious daughter. I wonder how grown Mimi feels when she listens to this song today. Maybe a bit teary-eyed 😢...
Yes, yes, yes, we all miss Donna Summer so very much, especially when she was at the height of her popularity in the 1970s. Oh how we miss Studio 54 as well.
Donna's last message to us: "Go forward and don't look back...Celebrate! Live! Love! Laugh!" Yes, that truly says it all...if you pay very close attention, Donna will bring you closer to God. She is Love.
I’m crying & I’ve only listened to a fourth of this song. It’s crazy how life is. I grew up with Donna Summer being my favorite. Now she’s still my favorite more so because of the mom she was. I’m reminded to just be there for my child! Life is truly a present.
I first heard Donna Summer, when she released All Systems Go, from then on I listened and collected all her songs and albums. I cried when we lost her. Will never stop playing her music. Thank you Donna.
WOW! You heard of her so late in her career (and then that inspired you to buy all her albums; that’s truly Amazing). I’m sure that you noticed the difference in her style of music from 1975 through to 1980 in comparison with ‘All Systems Go’ which was released in 1987 🤔. What did you think of the contrast??
looking back we had this talented lady that showed us how to be a Diva,an Icon a Mother and an inspiration x women all over. A positive person that enrich quite a few generations.THAT'S THE LOVELY MESSAGE.
To all those great parents being out there making their children proud. Working hard everyday in giving the best the lives they can to them. But remember, they will leave one day too, and you have to let them go to make you proud too, and they will by your example. This was my favorite song on the album when it first came out. Donna Summer!❤
This orchestral arrangement was spot on, too. When she sings "and in my heart I felt a funny kind of pain," the music sends me chills and I shed a tear. So touching. I miss real strings in pop music. Horns, too.😢
My mother and I used to listen to this song together and CRY because she also was always gone as she was working with television. I LOVE this song still today. It really captures the beauty of being a mother. RIP Donna, we miss you so much! I know you are a singing angel in Heaven now.
How could anyone not love this song ... I heard it when Donna brought it out, and still listen to it with a tear in my eye at times. You'll be missed so much Donna.
All 4 Navy deployments I went on, I would sing this song to my daughters. The part that always gets me is when Donna would sing, "And others that I do seem to take up all your precious time." RIH
Rip Donna we all miss you so much your music your talent incredible i use to dance to your songs all the time you were and always will be a big inspiration to alot of people and most of all Donna you were so real and just a angel you will never be forgotten🙏🙏😢😢❤❤
Sweet Donna doesn't need the Hall of Fame because she's got is singing to the Lord now. And If anything, The Hall of Fame needs her.. Donna is and always will be in a class of her own.
I AM HONORED TO HAVE PERSONALLY KNOWN DONNA SUMMER AND SHE WANTED TO BE KNOWN AS BIG SISTER DONNA AND WANTED TO BE TREATED AS SUCH ALSO SHE WAS DEEPLY RELIGOUS!
I hung around Mimi and her husband Rick for a short time in Baltimore. I met her mom one evening and all I could say is you look so familiar lol. My friend Will called me a few months later a said, bro do you know who Mimi's mom is? I said nope but she looks familiar. He said her mom is Donna Summer. I said oh, that would explain alot. :)
The worst part about this whole thing, is that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame snubbed Donna from induction four times, almost consecutively. Then she died. And then they decided to finally take it upon themselves to induct her. Something really needs to change over there, and people of color should not continue to be snubbed just because they don't have long hair, have melanin in their skin, and don't play guitars . The case of Donna Summer is not an isolated one. It has happened over and over again over these years. Why should someone have to die before they get their proper recognition and place in history that they deserved all along. Why isn't Mary Wells inducted? Dionne Warwick? The Pointer Sisters? The Marvelettes ? It's just ridiculous!! And that's not even counting male R&B artists and groups. The Duke of Earl, Gene Chandler, has had a Hall of Fame level career. We just have to look at Wikipedia, to see what he has accomplished. Why isn't he in the Hall of Fame? The Spinners? The Stylistics? The Dramatics? The Whispers? The Manhattans? Chaka Khan and Rufus? The DOMINOES? Natalie Cole? WAR. Junior Walker and the All-Stars? Roy Hamilton? The Chi Lites? And numerous others !! Why isn't Brook Benton in the Hall of Fame? Johnnie Taylor? Barry white? Lou Rawls? Ben E King , Jerry Butler, and Tina Turner, have yet to be inducted as solo artists. Yet, 80's rappers are getting in, With ridiculous frequency, and rock bands almost by the score. Why?
yeah it really pissed me off that Madonna was inducted before Donna Summer. I've been a fan of both for much of my life but frankly there wouldn't have been a Madonna if Donna hadn't come along to blaze the trail before her. Any idiot knows that.
Talent will always be recognised by the people and thats the most important, money can buy you a position in the Hall of Fame. Honest to goodness real talent does not end up in the hall of fame because only the people and not peers know real talent and all those you mention, had and have real talent, most of those running the Hall of Fame wouldnt recognise talent if they were hit by a bus....
I doubt they even care for that recognition. Their biggest pleasure was the fans. Donna was a child of God. He gave her that beautiful talent. I miss her…..but I will see her again. Soon hopefully! God Bless this wonderful talented beautiful lady!
Para mí el concierto de 1978 live and more a fue el mejor que hizo Donna Summer y el más glamuroso en su historia como vocalista para muestra está canción de discada a su hija Mimi de la relación sentimental con un aleman
Very nice. Odd isn't it, that the LIVE & MORE 1978 concert has never been available on vhs or dvd? It was filmed by HBO and you would think by now it would have been available. Maybe now that Driven By The Music is re-releasing her material that maybe they will finally get that concert released, like they did with 1983's - A Hot Summer Night as a cd/dvd set. It seems every music number from the 1978 concert is available all over the internet in seperate clips.
is there any way to get the video of the 1978 "Live and More" concert ?? I've been obsessed with the album since I was 8..I heard on 8 track for years :)
Not true. Fake news. They were just recently all together for Brooklyn’s documentary on her mom, Love To Love You Donna Summer in 2023. Family all together this year as well for a reunion. Nothing but smiles from the pictures I saw. Donna raised her daughters well. A reflection of the beautiful soul she was. Bottom line, don’t believe everything one reads. 🤷🏽♂️
Oh I love Donna but Mimi is absolutely adoreable ❤❤
Oh my, she is so gorgeous
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I had the pleasure of seeing her in concert around 1978 or 1979 and we were in the third row and she came down from the ceiling!
I grew up with Donna's music and I still listen to that perfect voice. No one in the music world will ever compare to the Queen of Disco.
I agree completely with you 👍🏾🙌🏾

Bye Donna, we are old now, but, your music keeps us young!
I hope this beautiful song comforts Mimi, and shows her how much her mother loved her.
it didn't matter what song she sing, her voice is just unforgettable. I love her music
I remember watching this as a child. My favorite songs are "On the radio and MacArthur Park." My dad was from Boston and said she was from there.
The daughter just as beautiful as her mother. Will she have the same powerful voice, like her mother. Hope so.
