The second I saw how light in color that mango was, I knew it wasn't ready. I actually have 2 mango trees I bought and a little baby I started from seed like a month ago. I'm hoping I'll get some fruit next years off the bigger tree. They both tried to produce fruit this year but they arent ready yet so the fruit didn't hold. Then the 3rd one is like 4 inches tall so it wont have fruits for probably at least 5-8 years.

OMG, I am soooo jealous! I would love to have my own tree(s) one day. Obviously I would either need to move further south, or wait for global warming to turn MI into the next CA lmao (only joking). I do plan to one day have a little fruit orchard of several different trees, but we will see what/when that ends up being once we finally purchase some agricultural land 🙂

You can grow fruit there that I can't. A lot of the best varieties of peach, pear, apricot, pluots, and cherries all require a lot of chill hours(weather at 45 degrees. Like, I dont get more than 400-500 at the very most, usually 300-400. Most stoke fruits require more. Some take over 1000 hours. White cherries or reineer cherries, whatever you call them, take like 800-1000 hours to produce, I think. So, each part of the country has its advantages when it comes to horticulture. But yeah, I am glad, very glad, I can grow mangos here. I have a little avocado tree we bought this year as well and an apricot. I have a white peach tree I bought last year that I planted in the ground this spring, and it's really taken off. I'm also growing some dragon fruit cactus, but those are a little tricky to get to produce. I have a couple of varieties cause one of them needs another variety or dragon fruit cactus to pollinate it, or it won't make fruit. One of them is very small still, so I won't have any fruit from those for several years, at least I suppose 🫤 I started those cause I've heard that when they're grown at home and ripened on the plant all the way they're much better. Apparently, they pick them very green for the ones you see at the store, and unlike some fruits like peach and apple and pear, which will continue to ripen even after being picked, dragon fruit do not do that. They will change color from green to red, but they don't produce more sugars and ripen their flavor. So apparently, when you pick them ripe right off of the cactus, they are much tastier and sweeter. Cause the ones at the store don't have any flavor, really. Good luck with your corn. Mine got left too long last year and got all starchy. I didn't try it this year from frustration but I'm gonna give it a go next year again. I have this ruby corn that is a sweet corn but bright red. Very cool. Can't wait to try those seeds next year. This got really long, lol. I always ramble a lot. Sorry about that haha.

@@emdeejay7432 haha no worries at all! I love your rambles 😝 and especially when it's related to gardening lol. The dream is to have at least one tree each of apple (a couple different varieties), peach, pear, plum, cherry, and wou’d even like to potentially get a paw paw tree going. I've heard lots about them and am really curious to try one. The dragon fruit cactus sounds really fun too. We do have a dream to have a little "botanical greenhousse" attached to the house that we can grow lots of different tropical varieties of plants too. Something I have envisioned for quite some time!

I know! I always wanted a greenhouse. I wanna move somewhere colder with snow where I can go skiing and have some property and all that and I always think that if I did that I'd have to get a greenhouse to grow mangos and avocados. I'd love to have one but you don't really need one in socal. Buy yeah. I always think that too about fruit trees. I'd love to have 1 of all the main fruits that people eat. I'd like a persimmon tree too. I like those. They're yummy.
