I live in Omaha where he's from. The house he grew up in is a block away from my apartment. I always see him around, like at the coffee shop in midtown or someplace random like the hair salon. haha. It's weird that he's so famous in bigger cities because here, no one really ever treats him like he is. Lol. He seems quite humble and down to earth considering his success and the impact that his music has had on other artists.
i think it's a great example of a musician, that seriously had problems in life can still make it you know if you just keep doing what you like and what you are believing in. It gives me strengh!
I've got a feeling that the quote from All the Lights in the Windows is referring to Jesus walking on water. It's hard to make judgments about his personal life based on his music because it's not necessarily autobiographical. Songs like Padriac my Prince are fictitious and he uses allegory, metaphor, and artistic license to create unique songs, like a writer of novels would. A lot of people project ideas of who he is and what he does, but in the end he's just another person making their way.
Never checked Conor Oberst interviews before... he seems such a nice guy here. I've met him but it was a few years back, perhaps he is happier now, he was a bit gloomy that night. Sad thing, I would've invite him a beer if I knew he was like this! lol!
Conor paid $300 to have his hair "carefully disheveled" as he called it. He sometimes tells the people surrounding him that he's a "total poser." And he is.
