Ek, us Panthers fans hope you are able to shake off the injuries and have a career bounce-back season... i am getting my team-issued Panthers jersey customized with your name and you wear the number of my fave D-man growing up Niclas Lidstrom. This Panthers team is deeper than last year - we are putting the league on notice. This team is bringing the cup back to the Sunshine State.
If I was Bill Zito, I would strongly consider not giving him another long term contract because of his lengthy injury history. He's had nine different injuries throughout his career.
@@kobyschechter8163 I cannot say I disagree - but if he is willing to take less money to stay here, then that's all the better. He is still a useful defenseman. If he could just regain some confidence and have an "Erik Karlsson" type bounce-back year, that would be really good. I remember when he was in the Norris talk and then had the concussion and then the leg injury that totally changed his career, unfortunately. It really sucks - cuz he is one of my fave players.... but the last thing we need is him turning into another Yandle. Maybe he could agree to play second-pair mins and put OEL back up with Forsling (I liked that pair better), and have Ek and Monty play on second pair
If you're Bill Zito (Panthers GM) I don't know if you can re-sign Ekblad because of his LENGTHY injury history. He's under contract through 2024-25 for 7.5 million. In my opinion it would be a huge risk to give him another eight year contract because of all the injuries he's gone through.

If his salary is flat I think it's worth it. D men like him don't grow on trees. Look at Toronto who only reliably have Reilley.
I use to yell "godmit Yandle" so much that my neighbor's thought my son's name was Yandle. Lol
