I hate the no dating rule not only for them but all idols, the “prevent fans from being upset/ leaving the group” narrative is so dumb fans should know they’re NOT gonna marry their idols🙄 and companies should stop feeding them this fantasy. They’re ADULTS they spent most of their late teen (some since their early teens) all through their early 30s if they do well, imagine how horrible it’d be if they barely start to experience some romance in their 30s:( they’re young they should experience these things (unless they do not want to) just like any of us.

Agree, but i think the companies know the fans really well (especially kfans). Maybe they tried to avoid the things that happened in the past where the idols are very much harrassed by the fans. Why they keep calling Jennie ‘yg’s princess’ that’s a bit annoying
There’s a video talking about Jennie’s mistreatment. Everyone calls her “YG’s princess” for literally just wearing a good outfit that stand out. People won’t accept the fact that Jennie is wearing or gets something good.
They act like she is favored or given special treatment. Thats not the case. She has more experience within the company. Thats it. She suffers as much as the others. Hell, yg forced her to preform during the kill this love era instead of healing her ankle. She just wants freedom. She is not the only idol to try. And she certainly hasn’t been able to get away with it. Even if she wasn’t kicked, they forced her to break up with kai and placed even stricter restrictions on her.
Jennie ISN'T the favoured member y'all want her to be. She has trained the longest so it makes sense she got a solo first. And in yg this always happens that a member is given a solo first but I see only Jennie hated. She didn't even get the most gigs this year!
Jen's from a well off family but she still CHOSE to live in those roaches and centipedes filled dorms of yg to pursue her dreams. Imagine her taking her Porsche to those dorms😭 Jennie is as mistreated as every member. Yg never took action to defend her against malicious rumors when they could've done so much. "Yg princess" is a title which means she is an ace of yg, is totally yg style and attracts korean audiences the most. Using "yg princess" in any other way is totally wrong.

YG is RICH RICH. the charges agains YG was pure fabrication and speculation of him "gambling overseas" is nonsense. YG never touched BP's money. All the charges against YG were dropped, since they just ran on conjecture w/o any proof or evidence. However, YG stepped down since he thought him remaining in the company would further dmg the company's reputation.
Lisa's manager didnt steal 10 million. it's roughly around $820,000 for an investment property that never existed. LISA TOLD YG, and YG did an internal investigation and reported the incident to the police. the ex manager HAS TO PAY LISA BACK but he wont serve jail time, since lisa wants to settle this amicably. while she didnt press charges, the police are involved so he is forced to pay her back, otherwise he would face jail time. they details of their case is not released.

yes, actually dating is really a big deal in yg than other companies. when after jisoo auditioned, instead of commenting abt her performance she was asked if she's dating someone bcz of her ring. g(idle) miyeon, a former yg trainee was removed from the company because she's dating a male trainee and got caught (that's why they have different meal time) as for jenkai, both fandoms were happy abt them.
I personally think that blackpink has the power to change things in their contract cause it's changed from when blackpink relied on yg heavily to blackpink being yg's main source of income.

I can't understand why he don't credit them on the songs they wrote but he let his boygroups produce and write their own songs (look at the misogyny). Jennie said that she wrote stay with jisoo, jennie wrote her song "solo" she said it in her vlive, lisa wrote the rap for as if it's your last (she said it too), and lisa and jennie wrote the rap part in sure thing cover too, jennie wrote more than 100 songs in her book and someone stole it when she put it in the practice room (she talked about and put a note on the practice room door to "things are missing please do not touch or take any stuff that isn't yours). They know how to write songs it's just that yg don't give them credits !

they actually forbid a lot of kpop idols from driving and getting their license, to prevent them for getting in accidents and etc since there’s been quite some history about idols getting in trouble for driving drunk or getting in accidents and stuff. so in the end is all just to keep their image the safest possible. but could also be a way of controlling, since if they can’t drive, they will always end up depending on the company’s driver as u mentioned.

YG is actually known for giving their artists a pretty good percentage of the money they make, they have the best company to artist money ratios out of the Big 3 companies. Also, over time these rules are relaxed, some are only really relevant for the first few years after debut. It's also kind of funny when I'm watching the video cos more senior artists like GD have broken nearly all these rules except plastic surgery 😂

You're right guys some idols are lonely and sad, even suffering from depression and anxiety. @Jessica Hollister just calling her jennie would've been fine. and yes, a lot of people think that, but that's because most part of the fandom are solo stans and ot3. they've been crafting and spreading this narrative since early 2018 to the point that it became a known truth in all kpop, even if people don't have solid arguments to prove it. kpop stand love to have their bias as the underdog, the looked down one and, at the same time, love to have a target to blame, a villain to hate on. in bp's case, that's jennie. she's the female punching bag in kpop nowadays and the most hated idol. the popularity of this nickname within the fandom and outside just proves it.
as far as i know, most artists are under strict management first few years after they debut. Because I believe that this is the most crucial and critical time for an artist to make it BIG and be successful in the industry. Most of them are under contract for years. an example is BIGBANG. they were under a 10 year long contract with YG. Same with SNSD with SM. Also BP I believe is under a 7 year long contract with YGE just like TWICE with JYPE. And after the duration of the contract expires, it is up to the artist if they'll continue with the same management or leave. SNSD's Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun did this when their 10 year contract with SME expired.

The no dating thing for the most part is just for public perception. So many idols date behind the scenes and everything, which is still stupid that they even have to do that. But it's just a different culture, it's even that way for actors and tv personalities for the most part. Driving is also one that a lot of idols don't do, mostly because of the public transportation Korea has when they're younger, then once they are older and famous the agency provides transportation because they all go to appearances together, and along with management and things. There was also a scandal involving drunk driving in the past within the company, so it's overall safer to not risk the artist and companies image. Even when it comes to non-celebs in Korea a lot of people don't get a license until well into adulthood because there isn't much need if you live in the big city and have access to their subways and buses which are lightyears better than the US systems.
I forget the name of the agency in korea that audits and investigates financial stuff. But every 2-4 years the big agencies in Korea are audited no matter what. They keep all records for expended periods of times because of this. The most recent one was found that nothing was wrong with the numbers any more than it may normally be in any other agency. The manager stealing money was more so of an isolated incident and it has since been handled once discovered.
His gambling thing I think is dumb even if it wasn't him (I think its dumb even when it's other celebs it happens to as well). If you gamble somewhere like Vegas, and they find out about it you can be sentenced. Because their law basically is in effect even if abroad. So if he gambled his own money then more power to him for havin fun and livin life. The law is stupid.
there are rules in all kpop companies in the first years after the debut and then those rules are no longer so strict. For example, Blackpink girls can date now if they want to but it's very complicated. Also they can now drink alcohol, Lisa for exemplo was drinking with EXO Suho and others persons in a Bvlgari event and also all the girls drink in their new reality 24/365 and they can also go to parties and clubs. Korea media was saying Jennie went to a club in Korea this year with Irene from Red Velvet and friends and of course also she attended a halloween party from Ariana Grande and Kendall Jenner, this was not allowed before, and also the girls currently traveling alone on private trips. These rules happen in the early years of debut and it makes perfect sense because the idols arrive very young in the company

For producing, writing, and being credited in the participation of the songs seems to apply only for YG boy groups. They're allowed since their debut. But for YG girl groups such as 2NE1 and Blackpink they control most of it. 2NE1 were credited and allowed for producing and writing their own songs after 5 years. And for sure they got to participate in their own songs its just that they weren't credited. Both groups can do more than what we're seeing right now but the company is holding them back.
