Basic genetics, being "mixed" brings a lot of diversity which is better for the genes. Of course, it depends on parents personal genes and the mix of them but in general a child like that has a better chance to be healthy. That's the same reason why in the dog world mutts usually live longer while the pure breed dogs are more riddled with genetic diseases typical for their breeds. They've just worded it very harshly but they ain't completely wrong. That's just the rudimentary genetics that we went through at junior high. You weren't taught that?
