I don’t think you realize how special it is to see your hubby snoozing in the sun while you make everything so lovely outside! I think there is such a peace found in the home when a wife is busy making life special for her family. Your worth is far more than rubies, precious lady!

My mom had bought a pot of impatients (I know, but still an annual) for my granddad one year for Father's Day. He passed away in 2010, and that plant is still alive. It doesn't look as pretty, but its amazing that it is still hanging on.

Hi Olivia, I thought it was a miracle when my petunias came back and I was told they reseeded themselves. What I thought was a miracle was actually a blessing! 😊

Hi Olivia! Love the garden ideas. Just an FYI, your lillies are actually asiatic lillies. They grow from a bulb. You can dig them up after the leaves have died back and divide the bulbs, and have more around your garden. ( Lowes also puts these on clearance at the end of the season, they look dead, but you want the bulb, for next year, so don't worry how they look!) If you would like a lily that has more of the old fashioned "tiger lily" look to it, try "turk's cap" lillies. They point more downward, but have the dots and splotches. They are also about 3 feet tall, and reproduce faster. They can also be easily divided. Cut back all your lily stems when they turn yellow, it sends more energy to the bulb. As for your lavender, keep it dry, dry, dry. Extra rain won't bother it much as long as it can drain really well. If you put it in the ground, plant it high, as on a small mound, and put a few handfuls of gravel in the bottom of the hole. Happy romantic planting! 🌸🌷🌸

Olivia’s Romantic Home - Love growing Basil 🌿 But it’s a LOT of work! Needs full sun with lots of water which makes it get huge. *Remember to pluck the leaves often by pinching with your thumb & index finger! Basil freezes beautifully - After a big “haircut”, wash leaves & Place with some sea salt in a Tupperware container, then pop into freezer. Take out clumps when needed for cooking. (Taught to me by my Sicilian Grandfather - The best Basil grower around 💜)

I do this with my fresh basil but I stick it in the back of my cupboard. Every few days I give it a shake. After a few weeks you have salt dried basil and you have basil flavored salt 😊

🌼 Good morning sweet Olivia 🌸. So nice to meet your husband Josh. Your little solar lamp is adorable. Your patio is looking so pretty and I love to plant basil by my doors not only for the smell but also basil keeps away mosquitoes, which we have a lot of here in FL. I use that little DT garden trellis for my miniature climbing roses and I added a fairy garden to it and I added one to my gladiolus. Your trellis look so cute in your potted plant with your Basils. You have a wonderful blessed day😘 🌴💖🌴 XOXO. 🌸🌼🌸

On your cushion cover...try a pillow case with hotel fold. If you can’t find design you like simple to sew one. Easy to take off and wash when needed. I had both single and double cushions so needed to make a long pillow case for the double as the king cases weren’t long enough.
    ❤️❤️ the lamp idea!

Your garden is so pretty! Lavender tip: mulch with a single top layer of small pebbles beneath the plant, the radiant heat from the pebbles will warm the underneath stems and leaves of the lavender keeping it from moisture rot. The dampness is their enemy. This tip has helped me successfully grow lavender in coastal Louisiana where our humidity is normally over 50%. Good luck and enjoy! Lavender and roses are my favorite combination.

My black Mamba petunias came back for 5 years in a row without me replanting them!! Unfortunately they didn’t come back last year but it’s fine because I wanted to use the pretty hanging baskets in my Mother’s Shabby Chic Memorial Garden. They look so beautiful in their new shade of pale pink 💖💖
Oh! And my pansies came back in full force this year!! I was pretty much crippled last year because I needed a hip replacement surgery but I needed to plant something in my Dad’s Memorial Garden. My father and I used to get our plants and veggies from a cute little old Italian Guy’s pansy Garden store. I’m not in Philadelphia anymore but I HAD to plant pansies so bought them at Walmart for next to nothing! I put them in his Garden and was so happy when I saw them take off and fill out all of the containers!! I was so excited yet again when I started painting found treasures for my Mom’s garden the moment I noticed the pansies coming back!!!
I’m sorry I babble on to you. It actually helps to get this stuff out of my mind. And you are a beautiful woman so I feel like I can say this to you 💖💖💖

Hello to both of you. So nice to meet your handsome husband. You two look amazing together. What a beautiful lamp you created, you have the absolute best ideas. I love the way you reuse items that you already have. Definitely going to be making one for my patio area. I found a beautiful lampshade awhile back that was too pretty to leave at the thrift store. It's a soft pink with tiny satin roses around the bottom edge. I'm going to use s whine bottle for my base & add some fairy lights in the bottle a- long with the solar yard stake like you did. Alot of my petunias came back this year Wich surprised me beacuse we had the most snow & ice that my town has ever had. Yesterday I was so excited to see that the black ones came back in my backyard planters. I didn't know to trim them back but will be doing that as well. I use Miracle Grow Bloom booster every 3 weeks & I get amazing results. More flowers & much more vivid color out of all my plants. Your yard & porch look GORGEOUS. Would love to see Josh in some videos. Thank you so much for all that you share Olivia, you have been such a blessing to me. I'm so thrilled to have discovered your channel. Many blessings to you and your beautiful family.🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

I don't know where you live but I am in No. Ca. and it is very hot here. 100* plus days in the summer. I grow lavender also. I recently split apart as was too big. I have in a 16 in. pot. Well it came back just as big as before. It is huge. Granted there are many different lavenders but I am pretty sure if yours grows and thrives, both will be outgrowing the planter you placed them in. Good for you giving those petunias a second chance!! You grow girl!!

Yes, I have had Petunias comes back. Years ago I bought a hanging pot of Wave Petunias. The next spring I noticed little baby Petunias sprouting on the ground underneath the shepherd's hook where the Petunias had hung the summer before. For about eight years those Petunias multiplied and created this beautiful wall of color in my flowerbed every year. Then as quickly as they came, they were gone. I have a few strays still coming up in pots this year and one in the seam of the driveway. I miss my wall of color, though!! The original volunteers, I'm sure, came from seeds that dropped. After that some of the plants were almost like shrubs and would survive the winter in the flowerbed.

I can't WAIT to see more garden/porch diys! We've been working our HINEYS off ever since Friday {it's now Thursday and we are STILL not through} but while HE'S doing the hard stuff like mowing and weedeating and burning leaves and clipping limbs, etc... While I'M trying to make everything pretty. Boyyyy, this year is really hard. It rained sooooo much over the last several months and our yard tends to hold water like crazy so our poor yard felt like the "National Forest". 😂 But with all that rain, not only did the grass and weeds go nits, but my flower bed and my cactus 🌵 bed were both just..... LORDYYYY I don't even know how to describe it. You literally could NOT EVEN see the BIG ROCKS that bordered them. But there were so many leaves in them both and a lot of the good soil that I BOUGHT and put in them last year because I kept seeing the bulbs and roots to my elephant ears but soooo much of it just went away. Where in the WORLD did it go? 😱 Lol and my 🌵 cactus bed..... We brought all of those home from the deer lease way out in the desert 🏜 of West Texas and THEY literally grow on big o piles of rocks. So I'm surprised they even survived at ALL. {some of the smaller ones didn't 😢} but I put a TON of rocks and then that good dirt in that bed to bring it up higher {it actually used to be one of those ponds that people put in their yards.... It was already here} so I'm having to really harden the bed of it well so those cactus 🌵 will grow pretty.{I never knew they actually bloomed flowers until I saw them all at the deer lease} ok... I'll shuddup now. I had just re-watched this video, looking for some more ideas so that's what made me wanna ask for MORE OUTSIDE diys!!! 😘 Love you sparkly dumplin! 💕

Oh my goodness, how awesome to see Mr. Romantic sitting on the love seat with you. It is so sweet how you guys smile when you look at each other. And what is it with guys and being able to sit down for a couple of minutes and fall asleep?? I am always so jealous when my hubby does that. Sometimes I will give him the death glare for a couple of minutes to see if he is going to wake up, but it doesn't seem to bother him at all, he sleeps right through it. 😂😂 I usually just go on with what I am doing, unless I am being a little bit naughty. When that mood strikes, I will climb on the mower and start it up - that will bring him out of a deep sleep right quick and in a hurry. He hates for me to mow the lawn. Not sure why - something about cutting it down to the roots.
Love seeing that I am not the only one who heads straight for the discounted section of a garden center! Most of the plants will be fine if you just baby them for a week or so. I usually deadhead and cut my annuals back about 3 weeks before a big party, that seems to be the sweet spot for them to be in bloom again.
Love the idea of covering the cushions with a shower curtain, I think I will try that. We have so many birds around our place and they are always dropping little gifts on our lawn furniture. If I cover them like that it should be easy enough to take it off before guests come over so they don't have to clean the seat off before they can sit down. I will probably just use duct tape to hold them in place, I am too lazy to work with the garter thingies.
I am hopeful we will finally have a nice weekend and we can get some more yard work done - so sick of wind and rain. We are having grandkid sleepovers, but I figure they can help me weed and plant some of the flower beds. I consider that a win-win situation. My tired ole body doesn't have to do all of it and they get to play in the dirt and then be able to watch what they planted bloom and grow over the summer.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend Olivia. Sending love and prayers your way, Diana

Hey lady the landscape is looking great! Your doing such a good job getting ready for summer. I would like to pass on some grandma info that I was given years ago...if you have a plant such as lemon balm, mint, lavender, oregano, sage that will take over your whole garden area, plant it in a pot (yeah, I know, I thought she was crazy also) then dig a hole to put your pot into the ground. Cover withbmulch just like the rest of the garden and it keeps the roots bound to that size pot. Therefore it will not take over the entire garden space. She used to plant her strawberries this way also. Thanks for your videos! Have a great weekend!!! XO

I always buy the scraggly looking petunias. I just cut mine back today. Yes it is hard to cut the flowers off! You have me several ideas for my patio! I'm on the 4th floor and have a huge patio filled with lots of plants. It was fun to see Mr. Romamtic. 💗

Hello lovely lady. Your gardens and front yard look so charming. Mom loved petunias as well, and i bought some this year in memory of her. She's been gone for 6 months now. And it was so nice to see you share yours with us. I had no idea you could trim them back so much. Yours really did look so much healthier afterwards. So I will have to keep that hack in mind. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful garden, as well as your tips on cutting back your roses, etc. Have a Blessed day. And tell mr. Wonderful it was great to see a husband not afraid to show himself. Haha. We appreciate all his contributions too.

Yes, Olivia, I have had petunias come back in years following. My brother-in-law has some petunias that he's grown for years in a big cast iron pot - his mom had them and he does put the pot in a storage building through the winter, then brings it out in the spring. If you want an "annual" that comes back gloriously, try snapdragons. They self-seed and I have two "free pots" of snapdragons this year. They are in 2 completely different pots than they were planted in last year, so I'm assuming the wind blew the seeds into these pots but they are blooming and I may have to thin them!

Dear Sweet Olivia, I request you to read a comment I sent a couple of weeks ago, on your Beach craft, which you did a while ago.
My request was that you do some simple painting projects related to the new diy projects that you have on. E.g. with the garden, I would love it if you did a painting of flowers or garden. The reason is, your painting has simple steps and allows for people like me, who is not a painter, to build up courage to paint. I get inspiration from you. Lots of love. 😍

I have a tip for you with your flowers if you put your coffee grounds & egg shells grind them up fine( egg shells) put them in your flowers they will be so pretty also I water my flowers once a week with banana peel water I take banana peels put them in a gallon milk container and add water than just water once a week I sat it outside so the peels break down more. Let me know if you try this tip and if it works for you.

Petunias are an annual ...however they do reseed themselves! I've also had marigolds and geraniums reseed themselves and come up the following spring. One other tip ...did you know that you can plant your petunia trimmings directly into the ground (remove the flowers and keep the leaves on the cuttings), if you keep them watered they will root (which takes about one week) and you'll have lots of new petunia plants for free!

I saw your recover of your sofa yesterday and it made me think of my fav decorate on a dime tip. I use king size flat sheets! You can use them for wall paper, then make matching pillows etc to bring the room together. I wish I had a pic of my bedroom before I took it down. But picture a lovely muted rose large print in pinks and minty greens. Then I put a scarf across the top on some drapery pull backs. I was lucky, I had a piece of fabric that did the job perfectly. Hope you can use it.
    A romantic at heart,
    Aimee
