I also had my doubts, but this TOTALLY worked! No scrubbing, and the mold/mildew on the caulk is fully gone! I think maybe the plastic wrap is key, to keep the bleach from evaporating like he mentions. Thankful for this, because it saved us from having to redo the tub caulking!
The plastic stops the black mold from blooming. It sends out spores when it senses the bleach coming to kill it, spreading itself around. You need the plastic in order to stop that from happening. It's frustrating when these guys don't explain that, because people might think that step is unnecessary and make the problem much worse.
Despite not having enough baking soda (my least favorite soda, btw), I can't believe how well this already worked on my first pass. I'm buying more to finish the job with a second pass. Just wow. Thanks!
y'all, i cannot emphasize enough how ECSTATIC the results had me. the bleach + baking soda combo to make a thick paste totally works. i had to do it twice in a day, leaving it to sit under tightly tucked wrap for 3-4 hours to get the effect, but the difference is crazy. i wish i took a before picture. i hadn't properly cleaned my shower for 10 years, so as you can well imagine, my shower was gross. it was so black that you'd think it eroded away the shower. after i was done, i thought there was a giant white fog over my shower. nope. it was just so clean and white and pristine again, i couldn't recognize it. still got quite a lot of work to do with the tiles and shower door grime, but i'm glad i got the moldy caulk out of the way. thank you again, OP!
For the rest of your work, try using Dawn dish soap and the magic eraser, does wonders to remove all sorts of gunk. All the best and thanks for sharing your experience
My shower was pretty messy so I tried this today and let me tell you it looks much much different. Thanks for this video becz I was ready to take it all up and put new caulk down.
I had my doubts on this and I tried every product I could find to remove dark spots in the corners of my shower. I was ready to replace the chalking. I left it on overnight and in the morning found all of the darkness GONE! It worked perfectly! Thanks!
I've been doing this for years. I never let it get bad enough to require multiple applications or even the use of the plastic wrap. I do it about every 2-3 months when little black specs start to appear on my tub caulk. When I went to do it most recently I didn't realize that I was out of baking soda. So instead I just applied Soft-Scrub w/bleach to the moldy caulk. waited an hour and rinsed it off. To my surprise it did the EXACT same thing as the DIY bleach/soda paste. No scrubbing required!!! I always keep soft-scrub w/bleach on hand so....I think I'm done mixing other products.
I did this yesterday and IT WORKED BEAUTIFULLY! Thanks for posting! The caulk I have in shower stall is clear. This got ALL the mold. Very happy! Have used all the mold/mildew sprays on the market, but this cheap fix worked better than all of them!
Thank you so much!! ❤❤❤ I wish I watched this before I spent an hour scrubbing it. 😂One thing I suggest is not to add water. Just pour some bleach into baking powder. You mentioned that it’s better to be thick so I did just that. I put the wrap over and forgot about it for at least 3-4 hours. Once I checked it, all of the mold was gone. I couldn’t believe it as I tried using so many different types of cleaning products and scrubbed it so much!!!! 😅
THANK YOU !!! My bath is notorious for nolding and I did this process oncr and it was gone. I wish I could add a before and after to my comment. This truly did the trick to clean my bathroom not only the molding around the tub but in the ceiling as well..
I NEVER comment on yt vids but this is the exception. This tip worked WONDERS. I couldn’t believe it. Just wear a mask and some goggles with gloves like he says.
Baking soda and bleach both have whitening affects hence why some tooth pastes have baking soda in it and bleach kills germs ect. So it’s like a op shower cleaner
I had mixed success with this. I followed the instructions to a T, but still had a lot of black spots. I think for some caulk, if it gets moldy long enough, you're just better off cutting out and recaulking. Saves me more time in the long run.
This works fine for surface mildew but not for mildew that is beneath or behind the caulk. Very couple of years, I have recaulk where the wall meets the shower floor.
Me too. This method works for me for a couple of weeks and then the mold comes back. I’ve done this about ten times. Any suggestions??? I even ripped out the old caulk and still comes back.
This video helped me so much. I bought a small basting brush from the dollar store that helped easily push the mixture right up to where it needed to be. I didn't use plastic (Saran) wrap. Maybe it would have worked better. But I think it removed about 80% to 90% percent of the mold. I plan to do.another treatment. In contrast, I did another cleaning from a different TH-cam video that required toilet bowl cleaner. That did absolutely nothing and was too runny to be effective. Before I watched your video I thought someone should invent a bath paste to let it sit on the grout. But with your simple method, no inventing is required. I agree, use a respiratorator. I took mine off after I cleaned and could instantly smell the bleach mixture. Bleach smell doesn't normally bother me. But perhaps the baking soda and bleach combo makes it a little rougher. If you don't have a respirator at least open the windows. But this method made most of the areas bright white. I'm confident the areas that need more work will be clean soon. No more embarrassing, and potentially harmful, mold.
This method works for me for a couple of weeks and then the mold comes back. I’ve done this about ten times. Any suggestions??? I even ripped out the old caulk and still comes back.
4 hours? I have done this. The other videos and for me is 12 hours. Not 4. Sometimes you can take off a 8 hours. Also Easier to use toilet paper rolled as a poultice instead of Baking soda.
Leave it in overnight. Also Clorox toilet bowl cleaner works great too! Just squirt it on the black spots leave on overnight and use a scrub brush with water and rinse
Saw this video and ran to the store to get gloves & a paint brush to do this. I can literally see the difference in minutes. Tysm bc no matter how much I scrubbed it wouldn’t come off. I was disgusted with it
I was cleaning my shower. I added baking soda and vinegar 😮 silly me. It did NOTHING! i can't wait to try it. Will post an update. Based on comments, it works. Thank you for your ezy-peezy advice👍🏻
👉 I so agree about the respirator mask. So many projects I've fumed myself near to death. with toxic cleaning supplied in tight spaces. It so sucks to feel ill, after. And then there's you know, the melted brain cells. 😳 I'm sorry, what were we talking about... 🤔
I never comment on anything but wow. This literally made my moldy caulk look like brand new. This is a straight God send of a video
You are a genius! It not only removed the mold, but stayed gone for almost a year!!

Worked for me too! Two rounds, some patience, and mold was gone. Very effective. Thanks.
My shower was pretty messy so I tried this today and let me tell you it looks much much different. Thanks for this video becz I was ready to take it all up and put new caulk down.
Ha me too!!!
I used this hack today on a neglected spare bathroom. This was by far the best method I've ever used. It saved me from having to replace the caulk 👍
Excellent. Works very well, saved me from re-caulking. Thanks for posting!

Also Clorox toilet bowl cleaner works too! Just squeeze it on the dark areas and leave on overnight!
This worked GREAT!!! Thank you! The hardest part was getting the saran wrap situated. So nice to not see the mold any more!

Thanks for the advice. I will be purchasing soft scrub with bleach to try inside of making the paste.
This worked beautifully!!! I wore the respirator and gloves designed to hold up against chemicals. I am so grateful!!!!
I will be doing this tomorrow when nobody’s home and I can well ventilate the home. Thanks for sharing

Thank you so much. I did it today and it magically worked.
Wow you sir are a genius. Thank you for the information I am blown away by the results!
I watched this and said yeah right. I have tried about everything already. Well, I just did it and it worked fantastic! I couldn’t believe it.
Thank you so much!! ❤❤❤

I NEVER comment on yt vids but this is the exception. This tip worked WONDERS. I couldn’t believe it. Just wear a mask and some goggles with gloves like he says.
It would’ve been better had this been shown on a shower with mold not a clean shower 😳
Exactly
People feels bad showing mold on his bathroom but it's the reality on most houses.
Absolutely!
Yeah, it's like doing a video on detailing with a brand new car.
I tried this! And it actually worked. My tub was really gross!! I have to do another layer. I ran outta bleach!
amazing i just did this last night... and left it on over night.. worked great! and so easy!!
Thank you very much. This is the only thing that’s ever worked. I am so very grateful.
what is the recommended way of disposing the solution?
Nice, I’ll give this a try! I didn’t realize how nasty my shower caulking had gotten until this morning 😷
"Absolutely wear a respirator."
2020: "Haha, funny you should mention respirators..."
🤣🤣
Worked great! Easy and no mess. Thanks for posting!
What is the purpose of the baking soda ? Is it just to give viscosity to the bleach or does it somehow interact with the bleach.
Baking soda and bleach both have whitening affects hence why some tooth pastes have baking soda in it and bleach kills germs ect. So it’s like a op shower cleaner
Do you think this mixture won't ruin the tiles???

Will this work on colored tile caulk? Not bleach it out?
This works fine for surface mildew but not for mildew that is beneath or behind the caulk. Very couple of years, I have recaulk where the wall meets the shower floor.

What do you do if your tub is a color other than white and can't risk getting bleach stains on it?
Worked amazing! First time around! Also noticed it helped on the grout too! 2for🎉 Thank you!
Ummm, did he just clean a clean shower?
Did you not see the part where he showed you taking the mold off?
Looks practical! I will try now. It's a small piece of mold, but it is driving me nuts!
My caulk and grout are a beige color. Will using this mixture ruin the color of my caulk and grout?
Why not remove the moldy caulking and put in brand new caulking?
What can I use instead of bleach???? I can't use bleach.
Brilliant and most helpful! Thank You
Just watched this again because I did it before and it worked wonders, doing it again now.
But you don’t have to remove that caulking full of mold ?
I did not see any mold in your bathroom
Must work then!
Right so we don’t know if this worked or not.
He showed the before a d after

It works, I did only 1 time, I can't thank you enough, and need to wrap, i left 2 hrs, it s gone
It works folks , hit that like button to help others. Thank You to the channel!
What if the caulking and the shower walls (ceramic tile) are non-white?
Ayyo fam.
Will this work on shower metal door finishes as well?
Tried it and it works. Thanks!
Will this work against black mold caulk?
Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Does it work with vertical runs?
I need to prep the area to apply new caulk, won’t the baking soda gunk things up?
Thank you so much for this video. I tried everything and it didn't work Until This! Wow! Saved me alot of time and energy!🙏💖
hey can someone pls confirm that this is in fact shower cleaner and not mustard gas pls?
Bleach and Baking Soda is a-ok. Bleach and Ammonia or Vinegar or Alcohol = death on a stick
“Bleach fumes are bad”
Me - I’m a mom, bleach fumes are like oxygen to me 😂
I wish I knew this earlier! Wow! Thank you for the video!
Old video but helped me today ..great find ..thank u
Worked beautifully
This works. You are the best!
did the bleach damage the caulk?
I love cleaning my caulk 😊
This worked SO WELL for me! Thank you!
Will be trying this today! Thank youuuuuu
Sure its ok if you have porcelain tiles, but what do you do if you have MARBLE tiles which can be damaged by the bleach?
It worked brilliantly! Oh, thank you so much!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing I’ll be trying it.
Thank you for your great tip!
Shown on a clean shower 🤣 just great
This worked so well!!!!!!! Thank U !!!.
It worked!! Thank you so much ❤️
This method works for me for a couple of weeks and then the mold comes back. I’ve done this about ten times. Any suggestions??? I even ripped out the old caulk and still comes back.
It will always come back because there’s always the presence of water
Bleach will dull the tiles.
"Good luck with your own moldy caulk." Okay, you just HAD to word it like that right? 😂
Does this work for the wall on the ceiling of the shower?
HOLY CRAP IT WORKED! THANK YOU!
I’m not mature enough to hear moldy caulk and not burst out laughing😆
Your username made this comment even funnier 😅
@@SJ-zg3ve 😁😁
Why not just recaulk 🧐
This process really works!
Worked great for me! Thank you
I didn’t see the baking soda and bleach ratio. How much bleach per ounce of baking soda?
This didn’t work after I followed all directions and left on for 4 hours...

I assume extra care and preparation is required when the shower has marble tiles. I’ll protect my marble tiles before trying this
This worked perfectly! Thank you :):):)
A respirator? Yeah we all have one of those.
I understand the bleach kills the mold but why is baking soda used? Just as a thickening agent or is a base essential to the process?
AtomicZombieAndroid, bleach doesn't kill mold.
@@pbgf0411 why is he using bleach?
AtomicZombieAndroid I’m pretty sure it whitens it
So I gotta get fitted for a RESPIRATOR to do this??? Lol
@@pbgf0411 Baking soda does? LOL Actually some people just use bleach to get rid of mold in bathtubs, silly. LOL

The bleach alone cleans it
Super helpful
So you bleached/made it white the mold without properly killing it... i guess it is good method
…”and good luck with your moldy caulk.” 🤣
Thanks!!!
OK I will try that thank you
It works!
