- In part 1, we dive into the alien ocean of Subnautica! This game has been suggested for a long time so I decided to check it out on Streams and explore. I've had a ton of fun just zoning out to this game so figured I'd sync this over for those who were looking for it!

One the best survival games ever made. Subnautica is such an incredible game. I wish I could erase my memories of this game and fall in love with it all over again.

@@taylornorth The atmosphere of the first one is really hard to match, that feeling when you're floating in the middle of the ocean with pitch black darkness all around you, it's dead silent but you could swear you saw something moving out there. Definitely have to play it immersed, headphones and diaper on.

lol uh if you've played this game you know that will not be possible for her. This game is incredibly hard later on trust me she ain't rushing shit. If anything she might not even be able to finish it.

Lol current speedrun world record for this game is around 33 minutes. From life pod to blast off. U can rush it
@@quincannon6275 doing a speedrun on a blind first playthrough is not possible. U need to know the game by heart to do a speedrun. I can't believe u don't know this.
@@TheCollectorsOasis no this particular game is just really hard later so much farming near the end I just wouldnt be surprised. Alot of people have troubled finishing this game. Its pretty common. That's why I wouldnt be to worried about people rushing through this lol. If you'd beat this game you would know what I mean. But I hope she finishes it tho. The ending is amazing

She's not wrong. 90% of the game is one of the most beautiful and serene experiences in modern gaming. The problem is the other 10%.
Also veterans: everything is right in front of you.
Interesting fact: a wide variety of deep sea creatures are functionally blind as the lack of light has lead to a reduced need for visibility. I'm not sure what Marz's excuse was this playthrough however.
I can only assume it has something to do with her not gathering twenty Acid Mushrooms in the first few minutes, that was just downright weird.
Watching people without “the sight” play subnautica never gets less frustrating.

Great to see you're playing this game. Some tips -
1) You swim quicker if you don't have a tool equipped, except for the seaglide. If your tool is in quickslot 1, press 1 again to holster it.
2) Don't pick up eggs. They're only useful when u get a certain blueprint much later in the game.
3) Yes, Stalkers can harm you regardless of what you do. They're carnivores. However they can be distracted by feeding them fish in hand. This applies to most carnivores. Some carnivores later in the game can be distracted using lights sources, like flares.
4) Check the databank in your pda for lifepod audio logs. Honestly, if you're confused, check your databank. It has tons of info and will be helpful if you're in a bind.
5) Scan anything that looks man made and is scannable. There is plenty of blueprints and tech to be found. If you've already got the blueprint for a scannable fragment, it'll give u 2 titanium instead, regardless of what it is.
Best tip for this game : READ EVERYTHING

For me, this game is the absolute horror game. It embodies “i should not be here! I should not be here!” while forcing you deeper and deeper and even deeper yet. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I wish I could play this for the first time again. So much so I've gotta watch everyone else do it and live vicariously.
Amazing game, you're in for a treat. One key to enjoying the game is paying close attention to your surroundings. Scan all the things, follow developer clues (like "break limestone" and "cut creepvine with knife"). Flitting about like a mayfly will cause intense frustration.
One of the best Survival games ever made right there. Take your time, because it’s a lot to take in. It’s the best game I’ve ever played.

"Where do I get fiber mesh?" As she swims past the creepvines stating "Cut creepvine with knife."
Surprized nobody watching the stream mentioned any of this.
Some things can only be harvested with a knife. You already found out about creepvine, but try using the knife on tube coral and table coral.
Different ores are found in different rock types. Limestone will only have titanium or copper. Sandstone will only have silver, gold, or lead. There's more than just those 2, but pay attention to the rock type and what they look like.
The quickbar can be accessed by using the numbers 1-5 on your keyboard. Pressing the number again will put away your current tool. You swim faster with your hands empty.
Check the radio for new messages when the red light is flashing. The health kit fabricator automaticly fabricates new health kits. Empty it now and then and you'll never run out of them.
Once you build a habitat you can make larger storage lockers that are easier to access.
If you're not sure what to do next, pick a direction and explore. There's a LOT to find out there.

YESSS! Marz is finally getting into Subnautica! This game is so good! Just so you know Marz, building your own habitat will make your life so much easier. Also, the Air Bladder will rapidly make you rise to the surface, which can be a life saver! Carry it on you at all times and have it on a keybind.

I don't think your problem is with memory but with attention, you have the attention span of a child Marz lol, you get distracted waaaaay too easily 😂😂. Love this game, glad you are digging it and going all for it, just hoping you play and upload more of Subnautica! As lot of people already said, one of the best survival games out there!
One of the greatest games every made with out a doubt, I was with this game since like alpha days, and seeing how far its come. Once you get farther into the game things start to just get crazy fun.
I really wish I could play this again for the first time, exploring unknown areas is so immersive in this game
Watched you go past cave sulfur twice while looking for it and i couldn't help chuckling lol. took me a while to figure it out too :D.
don't give up too easily. a good rule of thumb in this game is to look at everything you swim past. At least anything that you haven't already fully looked at. :)
going out of the bottom is only slow the very first time you go out, the same as it was slow the first time you went out the top.
edit: watching you looking for storage too, look at everything in every environment. including the escape pod and read what all of the things are in the fabricator. Your silicone is in there and it shows you what you need to make it.
I wish I could play this for the first time again. But 9 replays deep and im still loving this game. This and Outer Wilds... So brilliant.

Maybe build a base with a chair and sit down to read some of those PDA's and other Data scans.

I am so jealous, I wish I could play this game for the first time all over again. Your in for an amazing adventure. Some advice from one survivor to another:
1. Scan everything
2. Swimming is good for your glutes
3. Lubricant is essential
4. Steve shows his love through hugging. But not all love is healthy. Don't hug Steve
I had an absolute blast playing Subnautica despite the fact that I was on edge 95% of the time due to me being afraid of the what could lurk beneath the surface.

My favorite Subnautica Playthrough moment is now when Marz says she needs to find fiber mesh, immediately after blithely swimming past the game telling her to cut the creepvine sample.

Just started playing this game myself, and Marz's play is the most enjoyable I've seen yet. Her reactions are great and she is so fearless! Being a scuba diver IRL, I was pretty cautious going into caves at first.. the PDA is very correct in saying disorientation in caves can easily lead to drowning, which is why cave diving is a highly trained-for and still very dangerous activity.
But my diving background also highlights a bit of a problem in this game - IRL, underwater creatures never attack you. Or at least, _extremely_ rarely and it's usually due to mistaken identity, impinging on their territory, or having disturbed them in some way. But for some reason in this game, almost every predator attacks you on sight, even the tiny ones. Makes even less sense that creatures attack your vehicles. Ok, for some this is explained in-lore, but again, in most cases, makes zero sense.
Love the game so far, just wish the creatures would behave marginally more realistically, and it would make the real jump-scares that much scarier..

It's my kind of horror game. You're trapped where you shouldn't be here. The freediving and exploration is fun; I often play on creative mode and just swim around.

@@ankithguzz the atmosphere can make claustrophobic people feel suffocated or trapped. It's hard to explain but it's something like that.
@@iainsteele5737 i actually did get stuck inside a washing machine back when i was a kid. It's one of the things that triggered my phobia 🤣
Subnautica is indeed a survival horror game with less emphasis on horror such as jump-scares and more on environmental Terror which is far scarier than horror. Not many games actually do what subnautica does which is instill Terror into the player
Interesting how the Stalker AI was set up. You stole one of their eggs, then the Stalker looked at the spot where the egg was missing and eventually realized you had taken the egg and pursued you. They are generally aggressive, but that was a good touch of realism there.

I love Subnautica and love seeing folks discover it for the first time but good lord Marz.... chat litterally told you how to find cave sulfur and you have swum past it a dozen times over by the time you actually find it! AHHHHH!!!!!

i have been watching the stalker teeth building up at that spot she keeps swimming past , driving me crazy! and when she said " there's squshie doing his squshy squshy stuff" adorable little clench teeth voice you do , love it all!

One thing that helped me was building scanner rooms EVERYWHERE. I damn near covered the entire game in em from high to low, far and wide. Helps resource collecting a ton

the moment she touched the Floater I just remember the Dark days when this creature ruined my hours of play. it was the scariest moments on this video so far "30min watched".

MINOR SPOILER AND TIP FOR THOSE STARTING THE GAME WHO ARE UNSURE OF WHAT THEY ARE DOING:
One of the game’s early goals is to minimize the radiation that is blocking you from exploring some of the deeper biomes (you need Air Tanks and a Rebreather to dive deeper without losing O2 as quickly, but the presence of radiation makes it impossible to wear the Rebreather because you then have to wear the complete Radiation suit). To settle this conflict of interests between your survival and the radiation, you will have to find and repair the source of the leak. You will have to explore the Aurora wreck, search for supplies, find the Drive Core, fix the leak, and then radiation will gradually cease to be a problem. Be warned though, the Aurora has crash-landed in an environment that is extremely hostile to intruders, and some of the native creatures will certainly kill you if you are caught unawares. Go prepared with a little food, a little water (you will find more of these on the ship), a Med-kit or two in case you get hurt (you probably will), and several various tools for dealing with different types of obstacles that you may come across while exploring the ship.
