- THiNK 2011 is an incredible festival of ideas hosted by TEHELKA in collaboration with Newsweek (USA) - held in Goa, India from November 4-6, THiNK brought together the brightest minds in the worlds of technology, the arts and literature, medicine, economics, human rights, politics, business and more from the US, UK, India, Afghanistan, Israel, China and Pakistan to share ideas and inspiration.
Now i understand why i like anurag's movies most :) he is brilliant , and selective talented man .Respect.
Prasoon Joshi's perspective comes with his environment and life he had lived..he is knowingly ignoring everything what's going on..
Prasoon joshi is actually one of the people who wants good sensible cinema but only wants it like taare zameen par or other clean films .. everyone should be allowed to make films they absolutely want on whatever topic they want ... Anurag Kashyap and Q FTW!
I accept Iranian film industry is 50 years ahead of indian film industry. Their movies can be connected so much to the society and many of them are still banned.
Prasoon Joshi is absolutely stupid in calling TZP a risky film while comparing it to the films made by Qaushik Mukherjee and Anurag Kashyap which contain relatively unknown faces in terms of star cast.
We need brave filmmakers like Q.
Hahahha,,,, it's funny how just when Kashyap says "A person should be allowed to make an absolutely crass film" and the camera zooms out and Q's sitting right there!!

GO WATCH SOME TELUGU OR TAMIL MOVIES THAT SHOW GORY, GRAPHIC, SENSELESS & UNREAL VIOLENCE. SOMETHING THAT NEVER REALLY HAPPENS THE WAY IT IS PICTURIZED, SOMETHING THAT PROMOTES AND ENCOURAGES VIOLENCE AMONG OUR YOUTH. YET THEY GET A "U" CERTIFICATE.

They all made valid point from their experiences and what they believe in. Prasoon comment on Iranian cinema was spot on, they are way more restricted but they make beautiful cinema, which A Separation from the art house movies I have seen in India.

It's feeling so odd watching this video in 2021. Surely a lot of things have changed in the last 9 years. This panel would not happen in today's times because the taboos and issues discussed in this video have become somewhat quite normal thanks to the OTT revolution, though making films on politics is still quite risky. There wouldn't have been so much shock and controversy if Gandu had released today.
Whatever problems Kashyap,Jha and Q discussed they were facing to make their films have been solved by OTT platforms.
Hell Kashyap has made Sacred Games based on Vikram Chandra's novel (who interestingly is conducting this interview ) and is filled with nudity, violence, gaalis and bold discussion of politics. But yes the 2nd season was disappointing.
Jha has also made Ashram on OTT which is also quite bold. And Q has also continued to release his films on Netflix and travelling to international festivals.
Prasoon Joshi is now Chairman of Censor Board and to his credit has loosened the moral policing of the Board and has allowed some quite modern and contemporary films to be certified like Article 15.
But Kashyap and Joshi are still on the opposite side of the debates as can be from their respective dislike and affection for a particular Fakir 😜
The guy who wrote Sacred Games is a very celebrated author Vikram Chandra and is not the same guy who is taking this interview. Both are different people. 😄

@Lovnish1000 he just has a different mindset which is more sober as compared to someone like Q who is a whacko he always comes up with different perspectives. prasoon appreciates other types of art that are far more sophisticated wheres Q will see something dynamic even in the most simplistic things. I wish there was atleast another person in this interview who would represent mainstream cinema like a karan johar then you would appreciate prasoon joshi more

Prasoon sir is right about one thing. The so called evolution of our film industry is confined withing sexuality, explicit and nudity. We can't think beyond that. We just brag about hollywood making basic instinct but we ignore that hollywood also makes true art movies.
