- Herbert Spencer was arguably the greatest English philosopher of the 19th century. It was a philosophy of evolution and dissolution in an age dominated by Biology. His work in Psychology and Sociology is also noteworthy, but for the sake of this video we will only secondarily cover these as they pertain to his philosophy.

Marxists and social justice warriors need to read Herbert Spencer's book about social Darwinism.

I find Herbert Spencer's philosophy quite interesting. His moral ethics is essentially based on the survivor of the fittest. We are bound to the the strongest member of society. However, we as individuals are free to decide how we conduct ourselves as long as we do not affect the well being of others in a negative way. Rules must be set to the betterment of society lest war shall break out. Thank you for the enlightenment!

First note, Spencer was the person who came up with the term Survival of the fittest, he made note that Strongest will always survive but not that they nessisarly should. Read Spencers removed portion from Social statics. It was basically a reasoning on why Anarchy was a better system then any of the alternatives but he removed it from his book out of fear he sould be seen as an Anarchist.

While this channel is focused on philosophy I would say that anything by Spencer relating to sociology is a wonderfully interesting read. Try The Principles of Sociology or Social Statics.

Sure thing, I use adobe premiere pro. It has its flaws, but I though it was relatively easy to learn the basics. I am no expert on the matter, still learning. Haven't been doing this for to long. Good luck my friend!

He could not fathom the true meaning of life because he's not God, he's just a well educated individual who never asked for salvation. He probably felt miserable during his elderly years; I'm not saying he's miserable, knowing that the things he established never came to be, thus missing something much greater than him and all of us.
Interesting observation, and perhaps. But while he may not share our same outlook on life, and while things he said have been less than accurate, it is clear that his influence, and his achievement is something which is worth our reverence. What I find so interesting about Spencer is that he was miserable in his early years, but even through a thousand mental hurdles he kept his head down and completed countless volumes which still are with us today. Unfortunately he was among those who outlived the popularity of his work.
Does not matter. A seed was planted. As guy sensei said "it is true that not everything we wish for will come to be, bit the things we ought to do must begin with a wish". He wanted to spread this information and years ahead, it has. Just like every other genius.
I find a lot of his ethics questionable but good video nonetheless

His Sociology is what he is known for, and it is one of the pillars of the Western Capitalist System: one of the seminal reasons for great injustice in the World today.
Imagine a world without it. Without the Great Divergence, then the Great Convergence. Without that familiar lifespan graph. Without literacy and numeracy not only rising above the 10% it was in the classical era, but being 34.52% in the least literate country in the world. Without commerce. Without this cornucopia and emporium which mean the poorest of us can live like medieval kings.
