Thanks and I’ve always said I’m not the star of these episodes the people I interview are. I’m merely a guide/ learning and sharing my journey! Cheers, -Jeff
This video is definitely better than most of the whisky related videos online, for its depth, knowledge and authentic information from real Islay whisky makers.
@@Eddie55555ify Thanks so much, one of my goals for the channel was to do a video about Islay for all the reasons you stated in your comment. I’m glad it comes through. Cheers, -Jeff
Just stumbled across your video and wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it. It’s refreshing to see a proper documentary about Islay and its whisky industry instead of the typical vlog that just regurgitates cliches and well-worn trivia. The interviews were engaging and this is one video that I’ll definitely recommend to other enthusiasts. You made me want to go back to visit the island again! Cheers 🥂
Can’t thank you enough for taking time to comment and I really appreciate the feedback! We actually got selected to pikes peak film festival in Colorado with this short documentary. I’m working more on short documentaries moving forward with the next one being about Mezcal. Cheers and thanks so much as this comment made my day! -Jeff
I was there in August last year and it was incredible - I heard many of the same stories, so this video felt very authentic! Hope you're doing more Islay videos!
Having just returned from Islay very recently, it put a warm smile on my face. You've put together an insightful and honest look at how the locals view their home and their history. Well done! Slàinte! 🥃
Thanks so much and it’s great to get feedback like this as this is exactly what I was wanting to achieve. The idea is for this video to be used in future documentaries of Islay.
Great documentary of the Isle! Being an avid visitor since many years, great to see so many friends and known faces! Getting their wiews on the industries expansion is really interesting. Lovely footage as well! Thanks!! Beautiful finish at Machir Bay!!😍
Thanks so much and appreciate you taking the time to comment! I always say the star of my episodes are the people I interview. I am simply a guide. Cheers, -Jeff
What a wonderful piece of work, beautifully filmed and gives a great insight into both the industry and the community. I didn't realise the industry was in such a slump in the 1980's and the effect it had on these small communities. My wife would argue that my personal consumption of Islay single malt should keep at least one distillery running for the foreseeable future.
Thanks so much for taking the time and commenting and lvove the comment about how your wife would argue you kept at least one distillery running Hahahhaha. Cheers, -Jeff
Amazing videography from Yoel, as always. Really felt like I was watching a Netflix documentary. Thanks also to Jeff whose passion shines through, giving each distillery its time to shine. Well done, both!👏🏼
Great video! It took me awhile to get into the smokey Islay malts but now they are my favorite. The unique flavors of Islay whisky are what keeps ke coming back for another bottle. I like them all… Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Laphroaig, Bowmore, Port Charlotte & Bunnahabhain. The 16 year Lagavulin is my favorite though.
I really appreciate it brother! This message fires me up and gives me motivation to make even better videos in the future . Cheers and thanks for taking time to comment! Cheers, -Jeff
@drinkdestinations Jeff, I live in Boston but big fan of all things from Scotland...from Harris Tweed to whisky...it's amazing you managed to get Kilchoman and Bruichladdich in this. These two in particular are doing creative and innovative things to peated whisky.
Thanks so much! It’s difficult to get the doors to open on Islay, but glad to everyone involved that said yes and hope this will be used in future documentaries.
My mum is from Islay, I've just got back from there. It's a beautiful island with a fascinating history but I do feel the distilleries could do a lot more for the infrastructure.
One of the best documentaries I have seen on Islay and its history with Whisky. Beautiful work!
Really appreciate it and means a lot! Thanks for taking the time and letting us know. -Jeff

Wish i lived there...
My diet living there would be nothing but whisky. Hahahhaha it’s an amazing place, the midgies will get ya when the wind is low.
In 2006 i bought First Black bottle blendet Display whiskey. 1👍👍😋🏴🇩🇪
Sad to not be able to see Lagavulin
Diageo didn’t want to open their doors. I asked they didn’t want to be part of this like the rest of the distilleries did. It’s unfortunate.
@@drinkdestinations their loss. Beautiful video of my favorite island. Thanks
My favourite is laphroig
@@macleod41069 such an iconic brand! I can’t wait to go back to visit the end of the year!
Ardbeg is my favorite out of the lot
One of my favorites as well! Bunnahabhain grew on me a lot while I was on the island.
Привет, Джефф. Ты и тут в шапке? Ты хотя бы на ночь ее снимаешь? ;)
I had no idea they shut Ardbeg until the 1990's. So sad.
Fantastic! Thanks so much for putting this together.
You’re welcome. Im happy the Islay distilleries said yes to me coming and filming!
Once visit campbeltown.
Yes it’s amazing! I’ve also filmed an episode with Springbank!
@@drinkdestinations wow fantastic.
